History

Established in 1971.

NCC combines with Special People in the Northeast (SPIN), which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those with mental and physical disabilities. When parents wanted a summer camp experience for their children with special needs they joined forces with one of Torresdale School’s special education teachers, David Losinno. Their dream became a reality when Camp SPIN opened in 1971.

David became the organization’s first CEO and together with his wife, Trina who became the Executive Director, they led the growth of SPIN from a summer camp into a multi-faceted organization for forty years until their retirement in 2011. SPIN’s mission and values-led services have supported thousands of children, adults and families to achieve their dreams and live inclusive lives in their communities. Today, SPIN thrives as it supports over 3500 children and adults annually to each live a life of possibilities throughout Philadelphia and adjacent counties.
