History

Established in 1974.

Originally constructed as a Tennis Club, Northeast Racquet and Fitness Center has grown into a 125 000 sq ft full service family activity center with a broad selection of program options. Throughout our many changes and upgrades, the club maintained a solid commitment to member service and creating a comfortable, neighborhood, family atmosphere.

Gary S. has managed Northeast Racquet and Fitness Center since 1985 and has served the racquet/fitness industry since 1978 in various roles. Gary believes that member service is the most vital characteristic of a successful club.

I received a free trial period to this gym, which was great because I wasn’t quite sure that I wanted to make the commitment just yet… The gym looked very nice and everything was going great until the staff became very rude. Ted, who was at the front desk, was very rude and short with me after I let him know that I had a trial period and I wanted to check
In to workout. His looks could have killed, just a very rude guy. I felt like saying if you don’t like your job then go get another one. Other than the staff, the gym is nice. However, I do not want to spend my money and get the rude treatment. I made it to the second day of the 7 day trial period and I never went back. I enjoyed the first day though.

In our quest for a great camp for our children ages 6 and 9, we have finally found one in the Northeast Racquet and Fitness Club. We were initially very impressed with their Kid’s Club and then, decided to try the Summer Camp. The Northeast Summer Day Camp is well organized. Our children have many opportunities to engage in a variety of activities. Not only do we have the peace of mind that they are safe, but also they love being a part of this camp. We have tried a few other camps in the past but have never felt as comfortable as we do now. Not only as parents, but also as educators, my husband and I are constantly seeking out opportunities for our children. The camp staff is always very attentive and seeks out ways to have the children feel special through their interactions, newsletters, metals, ribbons, prizes and so forth. Both of our children grew to enjoy playing certain sports that they did not previously enjoy as much. The camp promotes positive behavior and interactions. One of my sons is on the autism spectrum and has flourished here. We can’t be thankful enough, so we decided to spread the word so that other parents may be aware of this program.

Nope nope nope… and nope. If I were able to give it zero stars, I would. There are absolutely no redeemable qualities to this horrible excuse for a gym. My daughter was invited to a pool party here by one of her classmates. The pool was small since it was just kids. No lifeguards showed up to watch the kids while they swam, we did get an employee that came in and told them stay here until we tell you to get out. That was it. I was so appalled by that. I went to the from desk and was told to call and place a complaint if it was that big of a deal. Saw a cockroach in the locker room, the room where the party was had a broken kitchen in it and the «helpers» only made snarky comments to the kids and parents. Disgraceful!

Have been going to this place for a year. Workout equipment is not new, but in good condition. Treadmills are great facing TVs on the wall. The pool is big enough, clean. Jacuzzi is sitting nearby the pool, also clean. The locker room is big. Staff is friendly. There are few things that I didn’t like. Shower room has no separate stalls. It is just one big shower room. Forget about privacy while you are showering! For all I know someone maybe checking me out while I shower. The sauna next by the pool sucks big time. The timer is set for 15 minutes. The room never gets hotter than 90 degrees at best. Just these two things made me leave for LA Fitness.

From the front desk, to the class instructors, trainers and nursery I Haven’t had any complaints and every visit is always a good experience.
The treadmills and cardio equipment are not the newest and definitely could use an upgrade but they are all in working order, Clean and get the job done. The weight section is well organized and usually not too crowded.
I like the fact that they offer so many activities for kids. (Swim lessons, Karate, dance etc.)My son really loves it here. My wife and I get to workout while he Plays and does what kids do.
