I went here for a routine check-​up, and they told me one of my previous fillings needed to be replaced.
It’s over 6 months later, and the tooth the dentist worked on still hurts when I chew on it.
At first I thought it was going to be very convenient to have a dentist right in my neighborhood, now I wish I had never walked through the door. Avoid them at all costs if you can.

I was very excited to have a dentist right in my neighborhood, but found after a few visits that the close distance wasn’t worth it. The hours were originally better, but after a few months of being a patient, the days and hours became less frequent and more inconvenient.
When I was able to get in, never were my appointments on time. The girls running the office have very little to no previous experience working at a dental practice. I had to move the assistant’s hand several times, because she was getting lazy with suction and kept cutting my lip. At the same appointment, I heard the doctor having a fit in the back room saying how she just wanted to go home.
Recently I asked for my records to be sent to my new dentist, and I was told that was too much work and that their system isn’t good enough for that. I don’t know how a place claiming to be so modern has such a hard time maintaining a file system. I was told I would be charged a records fee for all of «the trouble» the girl would have to go through to send them out.
If you have dental insurance, go ANYWHERE else in the city. I spent plenty of time getting a fraction of the work I needed done here, and it ended up breaking in six months. It may be more affordable, but the quality is not the same as a more established practice.

So happy switched from dental office in Center City to O-​Life in Northern Liberties. Terrific service, atmosphere and expertise ! AND I watch CNBC (stock quotes from the chair). Is the first time in a few decades I almost do not mind going to the dental office. Hats off to the crew — highly recommend to anyone seeking a new dentist in the area.

Today is first not fab visit. I bolted from gym to be on time for my cleaning. They are totally behind w/​full waiting room. Mutual courtesy may have be to text they are behind.

Have found that many a dentist views what they do as a business. For Dr. Roknian, this is a compelling mission. To be on the receiving end of a medical professional w/​that kind of attitude is rare in these times. Highly recommended!

This was the best dental experience of my life.
Things were explained to me I never understood.
My mouth was super sensitive because of cancer treatment, and my cleaning had not one moment of pain. Everyone was great.
I did not have any fillings done, so can’t speak to that, but I am recommending it to everyone.

I hoped to make this my new dentist office as I live right down the street. I made an appointment in advance. I arrived and was told I would have to wait a little while — I could handle that. I filled out my paperwork and was then told to come back in an hour — that they would not be able to see me until then. But I had made an appointment. I also had other appointments scheduled for later that day — it is not often that I have a day off of work. I actually had other things to do. I don’t know if the fact that they accept walk ins affects their ability to take their patients with appointments on time — but it appeared that was the case.
I will not be going back. They did not make a good impression on me and I did not appreciate having my time wasted.

I got referred to this office by a friend and I love it. The atmosphere doesn’t feel like a dental office and its in a great location (Northern Liberties). I went in to have a filling replaced as well as some other work on my lower teeth. The appointment was on time, quick and (pretty) painless. They followed up to make sure everything was cool the next day. Very happy I found these guys. I highly recommend it.

Staff is awesome! This place is outstanding!
They take time to explain things and have a very positive attitude on the phone and in the practice. Good music, TV if you like.
I actually want to go back to the dentist now!

Dr. Roknian is my all time favorite dentist. I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to dental work and Dr. Roknian is the only one I trust with my teeth. She’s very smart, knows what she’s doing, and treats others the way she would want to be treated.
One time I had a very deep cavity. Anyone else would have said to get a root canal but Dr. Roknian said that she would try to save the tooth and that root canal would be the next option if it didn’t work. She was able to save the tooth and use just a filling, saving me over $ 1,500 but even more importantly saving my tooth. I liked how she spent extra time and effort doing what was right rather than taking the easy way and sacrificing my tooth.
Even though I’ve moved, I still fly in to see her because she’s very honest and extremely gentle. I purposely set my work trips to the East Coast up around times that I need a dental cleaning because I can’t imagine going to anyone else.

For my fans (I know you’re out there) you’ll notice that this is not the first dentist I’ve reviewed but that this time I have nothing but positive things to say (except for the part where they determined that I need a filling (but then again I cannot blame them for this. Can I?)
The office is clean and modern and the staff is friendly and professional. They are also organized and all of the issues that I had with the previous dentist regarding insurance billing were completely nonexistent here. Interestingly, somehow the price of a cleaning and X-​Rays here (unsubsidized by insurance) was about half what I paid at that other dentist even after they used my insurance’s scheduled billing.
If you need a cleaning, a check-​up, some fun tooth related gadget, this is the place to go around Northern Liberties.

Super professional, state of the art practice/​surgery. Relatively painless also. Makes going to the dentist a whole lot easier. After a clean and polish I left with shiny clean teeth in record breaking time.

Super weird. I have had two bad experiences here, and now will be continuing my search for a new dentist. On the first visit, I arrived on time and the dentist was not there for the appt. They had called my cell 5 minutes before the appt to reschedule. I was told I could wait, but it would likely be an hour. After I had returned home, I received a call letting me know the dentist had only been ½ hr late, so I should have waited (?) Figuring this was just a bad day, I rescheduled. Upon arriving, I had some questions for the dentist about xrays– as I had just had xrays within the last 6 months I asked if they were necessary for a cleaning. Just by asking a simple question, I got such a negative response handled in such an unprofessional manner that I left the office without receiving services. The dentist was also very weird in wanting details of why I was switching dentists — they treated me as if I was trying to get over on them somehow– I have no idea what the h*ll is going on in there but there is a very weird vibe. Tread carefully.

I haven’t even made my first appointment here yet, but I went by w/​my boifriend twice. He’s from Chicago & needed a dentist & since the dentist I usually go to wasn’t accepting any new patients, he tried this place from a referral. Everyone there is really nice, they make the patient feel super comfortable with neck pillows and options of watching tv while in the chair, and even had apples, strawberries, crackers and fig jam in the waiting room area with their magazines. They have an all woman staff (which is awesome!) and they are professional & down to earth as well which makes for a really nice experience. My boifriend said this was the first time he never had pain at the dentist and was actually looking forward to coming back! Some dentist charge like $ 75 – 100 just to look at your teeth, this place waved the fee. They work with you for what you have, making it feel more like they actually care and are passionate about what they’re doing, rather than just capitalizing on the medical industry. Personally, I’ve had the same dentist since I lived in philly, but stumbling upon this place I’m really considering switching from my dentist for the first time, ever. Not to mention the décor is amazing! Hard wood floors, open windows, heart of Northern liberties and earth toned colors. 2 thumbs up and kudos to this place.

A sentence I never thought I would write — I just had a wonderful trip to the dentist. From its comforting, non-​sterile décor trading traditional medicinal intimidation for warmth and caring, to its helpful beyond words all-​female staff, Olife is top notch.
The administrative assistant patiently wrangled with my insurance company for me and maintained a pleasant demeanor throughout despite the insurance company being less than forthcoming. The hygienist was engaging, friendly and extremely capable and managed to pull off the difficult feat of getting an X-​Ray of a wisdom tooth without making me gag, wince or beg for mercy. The dentist herself, Vivian Roknian, couldn’t have been better. She conveyed competence without arrogance and sidestepped the usual black box approach of medicine and clearly and simply walked me through my x-​rays, identified the problems and thoroughly explained what could and could not be done. All three managed to make it a playful rather than arduous experience and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Located across from the Piazza at Schmidt’s this new practice is off to a wonderful start and I wish them all the best. They will have my business in future for certain.
