Paradise Nails

Fine with me. They had the polish I wanted & it was empty so no wait. It’s two days after my manicure & no chips yet. I keep my nails very short & the tech did a neat job.
I’ll return. I can see why it doesn’t suit most ppl but it’s just right for me.
Five stars due to no wait & neat, lasting polish.

They always do a flawless manicure job! Best salon I ever been to and no other place can compare. They are very gentle on my delicate hands and the polish always come out perfect, non-​streaky and my edges are always clean. The receptionist Patty is also a very pleasant lady. She makes me feel welcomed and very helpful.

My go-​to nail place in the neighborhood. Not fancy, just a couple chairs, but that’s just fine with me. I get a UV gel every couple of weeks, the ladies do a very nice job and are very friendly. The prices are the great, the folks working here seem pretty happy with it (given all the bad publicity about labor abuse in nail salons lately, I think that is pretty valuable), and as long as I stay away from the OPI colors which chip way too easily, the quality is always good — my gel reliably lasts 2– 2.5 weeks without major chipping.

Not coming back. Pedicure was less than mediocre. The technician did a very poor job with scrubbing the bottom of my feet and completely neglected the back of my heels. Had to finish the job myself when I got home. The polishing was sloppy with traces of nail polish on the area close to the nail itself. Barely said two words to me while I was there. Not sure if they sanitize their instruments between clients, but it looks like they just stick the tips of the tools in some blue gel. Not worth the $ 28 memo pedi.

This is my local nail spot, I come weekly. It’s nothing fancy but it’s clean. I’m just getting a manicure so it suits me fine– plus, only $ 10! The girls working there are friendly and do a great job– love it!

Considering the location I would expect this place to be packed all the time. I’m guessing it’s their cash only policy (and no atm on site) that keeps this place relatively clear — even on Saturday afternoons during the summer. I’m okay going cash only here but I also docked them a star for it.
That said, they don’t have a huge selection of nail polish colors (and the fewest gel polish options I’ve ever come across). The staff is technically competent and their prices are competitive for the neighborhood (24 for a pedi and $ 25 for a gel manicure). You won’t get pampered here (so don’t whine about not getting a hand or foot massage that’s too short) but you will get a pedi that looks great for at least 3 weeks and a gel manicure that holds up for about 2 weeks before chipping at a decent price.

Not impressed. I went in for a polish change (recently gotten a manicure somewhere else). The woman was rude — said my cuticles looked horrible and asked if i was sure I didn’t want a manicure. She then spent most of the time talking about how bad business has been and complaining about too much competition (which was obviously awkward). When I asked her to add an extra coat (I picked a paler color than intended) she said flat out no they «don’t do that». Not surprised business isn’t the best. In short, if you’re desperate for $ 10 manicure here might work, but otherwise I’d recommend somewhere else.

This has been my go-​to salon since moving to the area six years ago.
The girls here are all very friendly and they give you a good manicure or pedicure at a very fair price for the area. I normally get my eyebrows waxed here and as with their other services, it’s a very reasonably priced service although it CAN be hit-​or-​miss. I have left there unsatisfied before.
The reason I’ve deducted two stars is because:
1. They do not accept credit cards which to me is an outdated practice. It would make things much easier although now that I know, I’m never unprepared. Makes it difficult to stop in last minute though because I usually don’t carry much cash on me.
2. They do not have a very wide selection of gel colors. I understand it’s a relatively new trend but it’s not THAT new. Also, sometimes the girls will rush through a mani which makes me nervous because I’m already very particular about my nails.
Overall, this is a decent spot for a mani/​pedi but if I didn’t live in the neighborhood, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.

I’m not gonna lie, I love this place. Then again, I may not the pickiest consumer when it comes to manicures and pedicures. Here’s why I like Paradise Nails.
The shop is small, but orderly and clean. It is rarely busy, which means I am easily able to walk in on a whim and be seated right away. Appointments aren’t necessary. None of the ladies (or gents!) really speak English very well, but they’re sweet.
Don’t forget, it’s cash only!

I definitely don’t recommend this place! The only thing saving it from 1 star is the fact that a manicure is only $ 10 (oh, cash only!)…but it’s hardly worth it! I was put with a man that spoke no English, so when I asked for my nails to be cut short and have them squared with a rounded edge so they weren’t sharp on the sides, he didn’t understand me, and didn’t follow my instructions. Also, it seemed like he never used a cuticle remover before and did a horrible job. I’ve been getting regular manicures for about 17 years and this was the first time I wasn’t told to wash my hands before being polished! It was like amateur hour. Then, after I noticed that he was doing a horrible job polishing, I asked for a third coat… and another woman working overheard me and quickly told me «we only do 2 coats bc it would take too long to dry»…um, if that’s the issue, shouldn’t that be my decision? At that point, I was so annoyed that I was wasting my time and money on a horrible manicure, I just wanted to get out! Bottom line, if you’re in the South St area and need a manicure, spend a little more and go to Cozy nails… it’s worth it!

So I went here today despite the lack luster reviews I found on Unilocal,mainly because I was lazy and didn’t feel like walking. I found it to be a no frill place, little talking done outside of, «pick a color». I actually enjoyed that as it allowed me to do some reading without interruptions. The massage chairs were absolutely horrible, did not move up and down but instead dug repeatedly into the same spot in the middle of my back. I found for the first time ever that I had to turn it off before it shut off. As for the actual mani/​pedi the ladies did a great job. If I wanted a special, relaxing experience I probably would not head here but for a mid week mani/​pedi you can’t beat the $ 28 special!

Polish starting to chip after four days plus two restaurant shifts. Not bad! Still looks mighty cute. I’d recommend this place for a budget job; nothing fancy, but good in a pinch when you want a basic polish to look pretty all week.
Maybe next time I’ll go red. :)

If you’re looking for a quick, budget-​priced mani-​pedi, this is probably the place to go. If you go Tues-​Thurs a manipedi is only $ 28 (other days, I believe it’s $ 32), which is what I got. It was basic, nothing above and beyond, and I walked away with manicured nails. The paint job isn’t perfect, and the woman asked me if I wanted my nails trimmed, which I thought was a little weird (have you ever gone to get a manicure without the intention of having your nails trimmed?)… but whatev. I’d go back.
Only accepts cash. Boo.

My Birthday is in early March, so this is usually the first Mani/​Pedi of the season, and as such, I’m usually way over due for some pampering & a good coat of Polish. I decided on Paradise Nails for this occasion, cause it was easy for me and a few friends to get to, and I’d been wanting to check it out for awhile. We were the only ones in the joint, and had a lot of fun being silly, without having to be self-​conscious. I’d say they did a pretty good job — I wasn’t too impressed with the French Manicure I got (not enough base color, and it didn’t even make it past 3 days and an attempt to cook brunch (on the bright side, the white didn’t bubble up, a tell tale sign of a crap job).
My bright & shiny Red Pedicure however is still going strong, and making my feet look cute as ever. I would have liked more message incorporated throughout the experience, but I guess that’s less common these days. Oh, and Monday –Thursday they have a Mani/​Pedi for $ 28 deal (cash only) — I forget how much it was otherwise. For the money, I would totally go again, but probably just get a solid coat of «I’ve got the Blues for Red» (my all-​time favorite nail color).

I get a lot of flak through PM’s for being a tough reviewer. But, really, I just believe I am honest. I am downgrading this nail place to 1 star. Let me explain.
I’m surprisingly low maintenance when it comes to my nails. Give me a mani/​pedi that is slightly above average for a reasonable price and I am a happy customer. Also, I don’t want to leave more stressed out/​frustrated than when I came in. What warrants a place 1 measly star? Especially after I already gave it 4 stars in the past?
In short, horrible customer service. The young woman who did my nails was hating life, and it showed. I came to get away and relax, and my experience was just the opposite. Throwing my feet both in and out of the water instead of dealing with me gently. Throwing a scalding hot towel over my legs and not even flinching. Pushing back my cuticles in a rough manner? She hurt me again and again. Not okay. She also slammed the instruments around. Not relaxing at all!
I just want to add that when this happens, I try to treat the tech with compassion, and always leave a nice tip. As I did here. But I won’t be back.

I went here once with a friend for an eyebrow wax, she did a great job! My friend decided to get a pedicure and she loved the service! The leather chairs were very comftable. Everything was very clean and hey they even got a mani/​pedi deal!
