Pennsylvania Centre For Dermatology

I’m actually giving two stars because they were able to see me so quickly. I’ve had severe itching and redness around my lips for close to two weeks and finally decided to see a derm about it. I called this group because I work within the health system. They gave me an appointment for the very next day.
The receptionists are very profession and super nice and polite. They offered water to all the patients waiting.
I came 15 minutes prior to my appointment time at 10:15am to fill out paperwork. I was called back a little after 10:30am. I had to wait until 11 before my doctor even came to see me. My actual appointment with Dr. Jih, lasted less than 5 minutes. She seemed like she wanted to leave the minute she came to see me and was very rushed the whole time. I told her that I already applied topical steroids and did not see an improvement but she prescribed a topical steroid, so I will update if it actually helped. I have ezcema but did not believe the irritation that started around my lips was due to ezcema because this has never happened before. She did not seem to think it was anything else, such as allergic reaction to anything but she did not ask those types of questions.
I think I expected more follow up also, she just said she’ll send the scripts over to the pharmacy and did not tell me to follow up with her with results or anything. I think I will try another derm office before returning to this practice.

I have been coming to this practice for a few years on various issues. Getting a timely appointment has never been a problem. The office staff has always been pleasant and courteous both in person and on the phone. I have only ever been seen by Dr. Crawford who actually listens to what I have to say, gets all the facts and then we come up with a mutually agreed plan of action for me. He is a responsive and caring individual who obviously really knows his specialty and is superb at what he does. I am over an hour away from this practice by car and there are many practices that are much closer to where I live and work. I opt to go this practice because I feel that I am being treated by the best!
Just wished that some of the other specialists practices I go to were as well run as this one is.

Went to see Dr. Crawford for the second time today (my daughter and I both had appointments), and was very impressed with the office and the doctor. Did not have to wait months and months for an appointment like other dermatologist offices. Received both phone call and email reminders of appointments. Office was pleasant and extremely efficient and we were taken back to the exam rooms almost exactly at our appointment times and seen by the doctor very quickly. NO LONG WAITING — worth our drive into Philly from NJ. Dr. Crawford was very professional and thorough. Offered great advice without trying to sell products (even told us the things he recommended could be bought on Amazon). Would highly recommend this practice.

Somehow it takes forever for a dermatologist to see you. I’ve been a patient at this practice since 2013 and went back because I was able to make an appointment quickly enough. I didn’t have a terrible nor a superb experience. It was something in between.
Two years ago, I saw Dr. Gutman. He was generally thorough with my full skin examination. Although I had to pin point some issues that I thought I had. The second time I saw Dr. Jih. She was a little more rushed. Both times I had a small procedure done. The first time I had to pay many copays — even when I had to just get my stitches taken off. Thankfully, this time I had a health insurance with no copays. A specialist can be expensive.
In my opinion, the experience depends on what you may need to treat or have a medical evaluation. For me it wasn’t more than 3 stars.

UPDATE: So it’s one month later and I am updating my post from 6/​24, below. I’ve just received an apology.
Apologies are always better late than never. I respect any apologies as I know they’re not easy.
So I just received a bill for the «no-​show» fee outlined below and I called to dispute it.
Dr Gutman reviewed the claim, called me to apologize for my experience back in June and then he waived the fee siding with me, the customer. I was clearly animated in my below post as I had just been called a liar and had to find a new dermatologist to reschedule my appointment with. Hence, I wrote a post while I was angry.
Dr Gutman tells me he’d rather have the chance to discuss things one on one, which we did and now I feel better and I’m sure he does as well. I can at least respect him for that.
I think the issue with my experience below comes down to an office manager who was having a bad day and she took it out on a patient, costing Dr Gutman money as well as a patient. The fact is, Dr Gutman called me to apologize and waived the fees, proving me wrong in some of my statements below. He did the right thing and so I commend him for that. In return I am updating my post which is also the right thing to do. I can respect Pennsylvania Center for Dermatology for the business they conduct. No one is perfect and everyone has a bad day. My final opinion is positive because it’s not a surprise for a company to make a mistake, but it’s how they deal with that mistake that will define them in the long run and Dr Gutman made things right at the end of the day. I’ve moved on for now but I wish them all the best of luck!

BEWARE — AVOID Dr Gutman. I’m a fairly new patient who vistied 4 times in just a few months. On my last visit, the office manager tells me I missed an appointment and I will be charged a «no show fee» of $ 50. I said I had no recollection or record of having missed an appointment and they said, too bad, you have to pay the $ 50. I told the office manager I wouldn’t pay a no show fee for something I never scheduled and she said Dr Gutman said he is willing to lose me as a patient and will not waive the fee. So, I told the office manager to tell Dr Gutman that because he is so stubborn about nickle and diming his patients with $ 50 fees, he just lost a patient as well as the several hundred dollars he was going to bill my insurance for that day’s visit, not to mention the hundreds more for every future visit… all for insisting I pay the $ 50 no show fee… by the way, I left and never paid the $ 50, so he didn’t even get that! Dr Gutman didn’t even have the courtesy to come talk to his patient himself… what a greedy, stubborn doctor. If you go to this practice, make sure to avoid Dr Gutman as he’s just after your money and doesn’t treat his patients with respect.
If he does this type of nickle and diming in my face, can I even trust what he’s doing on the back end with my insurance billing, etc.
Dr Gutman is the epitome of a shady, greedy doctor only looking out for his bottom line and treating his patients like line items on a balance sheet… He’s classless and because of him, I’ve left the practice all together. Maybe there are other good doctors in the practice, but I won’t let any of my family or friends go there… because I actually care about their well being.

I would never return to this place. Although quite nice, Dr. Introcaso spent 5 minutes with me, walked in with a canister to «freeze» dermatological problems, and did not even help me in the right location. Couldn’t realize it till I could get to a mirror and she was long gone.

This was the worst practice I’ve ever attended across any type of medicine. I can’t comment on the quality of their doctors because I was never able to see one after an hour of waiting, but the service orientation of this office does not exist.
I had made an appointment at another practice a month out because the wait time for new patients is really long at most places in the city and my dermatologist recently moved. However, Pennsylvania Centre for Dermatology called me with an earlier appointment when they received a cancellation. I explained to the receptionist that I had made an appointment elsewhere and that I would not be able to make the 11am appointment she offered because I already had a 12pm appointment with my dentist on that day.
She told me that if I came 15 minutes early, I would be out by 11:30am no problem. Easy peasy. I cancelled my appointment with the other practice and showed up 30 minutes early to fill out any paper work they had in order to ensure that I could get out quickly. When I arrived, I mentioned to the receptionist that I was told if I came early to fill out paper work I would have no problem getting out by 11:30 where I needed to make another appointment. Great — no problem.
Filled out my paper work, was taken in by a nurse at 11am, things were going swimmingly. I was left after pretty much no questioning alone in an exam room and told the doctor would be right in. At 11:15am, I started to feel antsy considering I was told I’d be out by 11:30am. I decided to give it another 5 minutes. And another 5. And another. At 11:30am, I walked over to the front desk where I was asked if I was checking out. I explained to the receptionist that I never saw a doctor and I needed to leave because I had another appointment at 12 which I had mentioned and was told this wouldn’t be an issue. So an hour of my time wasted, I was asked if I’d like to reschedule. No thank you. All she did was laugh and say, okay sorry about the wait. Uhg.
I then came to find out that I had been charged a $ 50 fee for cancelling my appointment (which I was told i wouldn’t be charged) since I did not see the doctor. Are you kidding me? No other industry is this acceptable in, and I never have encountered anything like this with any other doctor as well. I have no problem waiting for a doctor as offices typically are backed up, but when you promise a patient that you will get them out to their next appointment knowing full well that many offices charge you if you don’t show up for an appointment — get your patients out when you say you will. Or at least check in on them! I sat in an exam room for a half an hour and not a single person stopped by to mention things were a bit backed up — I would have been sitting there for longer if I didn’t walk out.

Awful and a huge waste of my money. I think I see why it was so easy for me to get an appointment there now.
One receptionist was nice and the other in a very bad mood. I saw Dr. Jih and she sat down for a couple minutes and then stood near the door to leave even though I still had questions. She was clearly done with our appointment. I may as well have not seen anyone.
And then I was supposed to get a prescription and had to call back three times to get it. After they bragged it would be ready at my pharmacy that same day.

I have been a patient of Dr. Crawford’s for over a year now. He was my third opinion on a scalp and hair problem. Dr. Crawford is professional and nice. He seems well versed in my problem and the treatment regimen. He is usaully on time for appointments. He takes his time with me, answering questions, offering explanations, reviewing my progress. He seems to understand the sensitive nature of my problem and offers solutions to deal with my problem. He has always been available by telephone should a problem arise. At one point, i was awy on the west coast and he called me there and prescribed medication to the local pharmacy. His staff is equally friendly and responsive to your needs. The front desk staff are kind and considerate always available to assist you with appointments and questions. The office is clean and comfortable. I would recommended Dr. Crawford to anyone.

Was recommended to Dr Glen Crawford for a mysterious little bump. Dr. Glen Crawford was extremely nice and professional. He said it was just a benign cyst that he could remove on the spot and said he didn’t mind dealing with a very small problem that turned out to be nothing. The office is nicely designed and the staff were friendly and professional. The receptionist was extremely nice: when I called for directions she told me I could download the forms ahead of time. I especially appreciated that nobody tried to upsell me or get me to do anything extra. They dealt with my issue very well. I was in and out in a matter of minutes.
