Everything was perfect from the grilled octopus to the salad to the pizza to the mushroom pasta. Service excelled. Can’t wait to go for a return visit

Why does this place only have an average of 3 stars? No seriously, why??? This is my FAVORITE place now in Philly, outside of Luke’s Lobsters… everything here is so yummy! My go to: The bruschetta(just amazingly fresh!) The chicken Caesar salad wth kalamata olives(I’m obsessed with their olives!) The tres Leche cake… heaven The place is always inviting, clean and warm, and the staff is always friendly and they get it right every time! I’m getting hungry just thinking about this place! I definitely recommend! 5 stars!!!

This is what I ordered @ pizzita SORRYTOSAYBOTHBOMBED: lemonade & lasagne. Why??? The lemonade was almost tasteless as was the lasagne which DIDNOTSEEM/taste/whatever HOMEMADE — contrary to what my twenty somethingwaitress noted about it upon her presenting it. Of course, if you like your lasagne SWIMMINGINWATERYSAUCE, ricotta cheese & mozzarella(that what latterwas???) get it

If you’re in Old City, there are plenty of places to enjoy a proper meal whether you’re looking for something on the level of Stephen Starr with Continental, good pub fare in the form of Khyber Pass, or amazing Szechuan a la Han Dynasty. On one of our leisurely jaunts through the neighborhood, the GF and I couldn’t help but notice Pizzicato, which seemed to feature Italian food with various pizzas and pastas on offer. Bread Service Italian bread was provided with a pat of olive oil and balsamic on the side. Fairly standard but appreciated! Caprese Salad [$ 8] The caprese salad came with mozzarella, half-moon sliced tomatoes, and spring mix, topped with balsamic. However, the salad seemed to missing one element, which was the fragrant basil. A chiffonade of spring mix made for a poor basil replacement to say the least. Truffled Fries [$ 6] Crispy with Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese The fries lacked crispiness on the outside, but there was a chewiness to the spuds that I appreciated. The truffle oil was thankfully not overly permeated, yet clearly there. The fries were nicely seasoned and the bits of Parm Reggiano were enjoyable! Tagliatelle [$ 18] Portobello, porcini, shiitake, truffle oil cream sauce Unfortunately, the pasta almost ruined the experience. You could clearly see the liquid that the tagliatelle is sitting in. While the pasta was nicely seasoned and had bite, the truffle oil«cream sauce» was more of a greasy, oil-laden broth that surprisingly did not emanate much truffle, if any. We’re not the type to send things back, especially at a place like this, but we were debating it. Eggplant Pizzette [$ 10] Eggplant, ricotta, tomato
Considering the other offerings in the city, I wouldn’t recommend Pizzicato as a «destination» for a proper slice either. I appreciated the thin crust and while the dough had a nicely chewy texture, there was no seasoning at all, even in the poorly roasted eggplant and bland ricotta. A sprinkling of plenty of salt, chili flakes, and Parmesan helped to make it palatable. Overall, Pizzicato seems to be properly situated for tourists who are in the Old City area. But for those in the know, there’s a reason why other options in the area are more frequented. Still, if you’re itching for standard Italian without the oomph, Pizzicato does offer 15% off if you mention their website or Facebook.

We were in the area on other business and stopped by here for lunch on a whim. It was really good although we only tried their wood oven pizzas — margherita and another one I can’t remember the name of but it had pesto, ricotta, prosciutto. They were very tasty. Service was great; sitting outdoors on a beautiful day was great. Couldn’t have asked for better.

I don’t know why I thought my experience would be any different this time around. Ordered take out veggie panini with fries. Sandwich was bland & fries were cold & soggy. I picked it up 10 minutes after I ordered it… Mozzarella was rubbery & I could tell it wasn’t fresh. The«spread» was flavorless. It’s sad because with just any effort at all & the food could be really great here — until then, avoid.

I have no friends so what else would I be doing but writing Unilocal reviews. The food was was excellent, or so my dad said. I have to agree it was quite good. The waitress who severed us was very nice. I would recommend.

I LOVE pizzicato! Stumbled into it one night about 4 – 5 years ago to grab a quick dinner and have been coming back ever since. Some of my favorites are the margherita pizza, truffle fries, caprese, and the cannolis for dessert are amazing. They have a pretty big amount of outdoor seating and I have always had great service here. The quality of the food hasn’t changed over the years either!

Custom made a pizza for my picky nephew. He ate it with no complaints. Staff was attentive. A bit expensive. Since I didn’t order I can’t say exactly the quality to price. We were visiting and the rest of our party chose subs at another establishment.

Came here today with my family and everything was sort of okay nothing really stood up to me. Had a plain pizza, the calamari in manhattan, bruschetta and my other half had a chicken panini. I took a bite out of everything having been my first time there and it was pretty bland! The waitress was very nice and attended all our needs, even exchanged a dirty fork for us right away and was very apologetic. Will give it a second chance and see if it was maybe just what we ordered!

THEBEST! We wandered in after a long day in the rain. Seriously the best, freshest, non-greasy most delicious pizza I’ve had. Maybe ever.

Fresh ingredients that explode with authentic flavor! Outdoor seating on the hippest corner of old city. A must for a gorgeous day or night. I definitely recommend!

We happened upon this empty restaurant today with our family of five. We had a very good food especially the veal meatball sliders. The medium-size pizzas were very good soup in a good way with the yummy crispy yet chewy wood grilled crust.

We have been to Pizzacato at least 6 times in a 1 year span. We haven’t been back in ages because they took their amazing meatballs(my bf’s fave!) off their menu. I’m writing now because every time we pass it we can’t believe what disarray they’ve allowed their façade to turn into. Their windows are yellowing and cloudy, their branded over hangs are looking dull and worn out. These are not the signs of a restaurant that wants to attract customers. I would come back in a minute if it started looking as good as their food tastes! Get a facelift.

I ate at Pizzacato on two separate work trips to Philly. The food was consistently fresh/good. This place is quality food at reasonable prices(I had the salmon). Once you get your cheese steak fix out of the way, consider this as a nice sit-down dinner option. Great menu selection– this is an ideal place to enjoy a meal in or near Penn’s Landing.

Came here while in Philadelphia with my husband. We came during their lunch special and the food and service were outstanding. Our water glasses were never empty and the waitress was on her A-game. We shared a Caesar salad. Not only was the dressing great, but their Parmesan cheese was high-end. Matt ordered the margarita personal pan pizza, and I had the 4-cheese pizza. everything was delicious and affordable.

Great food, friendly service. The pesto panini was a huge portion and fresh. Salads with grilled chicken added were also very fresh. Only thing was maybe cleanliness not totally good(slightly sticky table). Surprised that there were such low ratings for this place. Would definitely return here. Edit: I spoke too soon. The cannolis for desert were DELICIOUS. I have to give five stars.

The good: There is a decent amount of outside seating and they have comfortable wicker chairs to sit in while you done outside The caprese salad we ordered was nice and cool on a hot summer day and I enjoyed it. It could have used a bit more basil, but not bad. The bad: The drinks we chose were really not great. My fiancé got the cherry margarita which was more grenadine than anything else and a dangerous color when drinking it over a patio table with holes in the top if you were wearing anything, but black. I got the prosecco and pear drink. While it was pretty to look at with slices of pears floating in the champagne glass, the drink was lukewarm and very perfumey. Sadly both drinks took about 20 mins to arrive to our table and were not worth the wait. Bottom line, service was slow and the drinks were disappointing. There are many other options for outside seating, pizza, and drinks that I don’t think I’ll be back to pizzicato.

So, after traversing the tourist trap that is Old City around 2nd and Market St, we needed some food and fast. We wanted a little quiet and delicious food spot; without all the angry parents pulling tired, unhappy kids through the streets of American history and then sitting next us all tired and angry. After trying another restaurant(The Continental?) where we were pushed to a table in the middle of the room because the hostess didn’t want to clean a booth for us and after waiting without any service of any kind for so long it felt like that awkward moment after someone farts in an elevator and everyone suspects everyone else, we left that proverbial elevator and went down the block. We happened upon Pizzicato happily. The waitress outside greeted us and was professional and polite by asking us if we wanted to dine there and if we wanted to sit inside or out. Being the warmish day it was, we went inside where is was cool and quiet. The service was very refreshing by being attentive and sincere. Our drinks, just water, were brought quickly and were cold. My fiancé had a salad she described as wonderful and my sausage stuffed ravioli with Gorgonzola cream sauce was damn tasty. And reasonably priced. Especially for Old City. If you want a good lunch with great staff without all the typical touristy headaches of more«popular» eating spots in that hood, give Pizzicato a whirl.

After walking past this place for the last few years, I finally got to try it last Friday night. We were immediately greated by friendly service and promptly seated. We split the artichoke heart appâtiez, which was the best part of the meal. The artichoke hearts were tender, the zucchini fries were light and not doughy, and the spicy cream was a nice counterpoint to the more savory flavors. My friend and I split the Mediterranean White pizza, which was very disappointing. The crust was tasty, but the rest of the pizza was pretty lackluster. It seemed as if the crust was baked separately, then the sauteed spinach, garlic, mushrooms, and cheeses were added after the fact. I’m not sure if the blend of cheese was off, or the flavors just didn’t come together that well — but it was disappointing. Calling it a white pizza was a stretch by almost any capacity, except for the fact that there was no red, tomato-based sauce. I think i’d like to come back and try either another pizza or one of the pasta dishes, but my first impression was very mediocre. The service was friendly, but kind of slow and sporadic. Granted, it was a busy friday night, but being right near the kitchen, bar, and wait stations made for a somewhat disruptive eating experience.
