Recently at Plays & Players for a show, I enjoyed a WONDERFUL intermission spent at Quig’s. I learned it was«members only» when shows aren’t taking place, a damn shame because I’d love to pop up into this tiny, kitschy bar on a regular basis. Limited draft, wine, and bottles of beer, but the prices are SUPER reasonable. Cash only, and if the bartender notices you’re not quite done your wine, he/she’ll give you a plastic cup to enjoy your beverage during the show. The lighting, the random wall decorations, and the small space made Quig’s warm, inviting, and making me wonder if I should skip Act 2 for a few more drinks upstairs! Knocking down a star because cash only isn’t my favorite(ATM on-site, though) and, while I’m a fan, I’m not in the entertainment industry so visits will have to be limited to showtime.

Place rating: 4 Philadelphia, PA
This place, nestled away on the third floor of Plays & Players, is weird, cool, and unique. At non-show times, it is a members-only club(allowing it to stay open until 4 am, with a last call at 3 am) for people in the entertainment/theater industry. During shows, this spot is non-smoking, but the rest of the time, people smoke indoors and you can definitely tell. Most beer is in the $ 4 – 5 range with some imports clocking in at $ 6 – 7. You can bring drinks in plastic cups or beer bottles into the theater, if you are at Plays & Players to see a show. The bartender who was there when I stopped in recently was super nice and friendly. The only thing that knocked this cool spot down a star for me was that the stale cigarette smoke lingered on my clothes and hair after I left. Regardless, I always make a point to stop at this bar for a drink when seeing a show at Plays & Players. If I was a member, I would certainly stop in more frequently!
