I only gave this company a one star because it wouldn’t let me give zero. I would first like to start off by saying I paid for short term disability through my job. I PAID. I filed a claim on Oct 26,2015 to get my short term disability because I had ruptured a disc and was off work. I paid to have that added on to my insurance just for this reason. I did not want to be stuck out of work without having money to pay my bills. According to the papers I received from Reliance Standard the normal amount of time it takes to make a decision on the claim is 5 business days after receiving all the correct information. I have been waiting 3 months. I have sent a release for for my medical records. I have sent in my medical records from months back and had my doctor fill out the requested forms. I have done everything they have ask me to do. But still they have found a reason to delay me from receiving my money. Now it is because my previous insurance company has not sent them anything. And I did say previous because I have now been fired from my job that I had this insurance through. I spoke with a customer service rep Jan 252016 and ask the status of my claim. She stated that they are still waiting to receive the needed information from BCBS. I ask her who is responsible for getting said information. She stated they(Reliance) are but they have found if the party needing the short term disability to live would work with them then things worked out better. Wait what was that… you want me to do your job. Your job that is suppose to provide me with back up money in case something happened and I was unable to work!!! No… I have went beyond what was needed from me to supply a multitude of information to this company in regards to my past medical history. This company has done nothing but cause me immense emotional and monetary grief. I was also informed during my conversation with the customer rep that is they did not receive that information from BCBS then my claim would be denied. My claim is going to be denied because this company did not invest any time in getting the knowledge they so desperately needed to decide if my claim is eligible. I’m not understanding what the problem is. You have paperwork from my doctor. You have months going back of medical work. You are the reason I have lost my car and other things. I will pursue all avenue’s I can to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else and to ensue that the appropriate people are compensated for your delay in completing my claim.
