Founded by Cara Frank, Six Fishes Healing Arts is located in a beautiful cherry-​paneled, art filled office that is conveniently located in Center City Philadelphia. We specialize in treating gynecology, family and internal medicine. Using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, homeopathy, nutritional counseling and massage therapy, our caring and experienced team treats a wide range of disorders that affect people at all stages of life. Our practitioners work with a multitude of complex health problems, including allergies, musculo-​skeletal disorders, digestive problems, headaches, pediatric complaints, PMS, menopause, hormonal imbalances, fertility and the side effects of cancer treatments.

Six Fishes Healing Arts offers a range of expert massage therapy modalities, along with specialized services including Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™. Our massage practitioners are Jennifer Harrison, HHP, LMT, ATMAT, and Daniel Cordua, LMT.

Six Fishes Chinese Medicine and Healing Arts is a trusted authority on acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Cara Frank is the founder and head practitioner of Six Fishes. In practice for over 30 years, Cara has treated thousands of patients with a wide variety of health concerns.

Business Owner

Cara Frank has been a practitioner and teacher of Acupuncture and Chinese herbology for more than 28 years. She is a popular lecturer, known especially for her clear and irreverent teaching style. Cara has demystified Chinese Herbology for acupuncturists, doctors, nurses, veterinarians, botanists and researchers. For eight years, Cara was the Director of the Department of Chinese Herbology at the Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts, located in Laurel MD.

Cara’s initial training was at the New England School of Acupuncture. Her herbal training was done with Ted Kaptchuk, OMD, Simon Mills and at the Xi Yuan Hospital in Beijing, China. It was there, in China, that her love affair with Chinese herbs took root, and still flourishes.

While Cara works with a multitude of health problems, she has a special focus on internal medicine. Among the varied problems that Cara’s patients seek relief from are: allergies, musculo-​skeletal disorders, digestive problems

First lets talk about the environment… so inviting and relaxing, you literally walk in and feel at ease (maybe it’s the soft sounds of running water in the background lol). Secondly, the staff. They are by far the friendliest care providers I’ve ever met in life, eastern medicine must have a permanent affect on mannerisms and demeanor. All are very knowledgeable… even Lauren, the receptionist knew to tell me to ask for the chamomile point first, in order to
Calm my nerves during my first appointment… Joseph is so gentle, attentive, and quick. I’ve had a problem with my menses foreverrrrrrr and nothing in western medicine helped me… Acupuncture had result within the first week of trying it. I’ve been going weekly for about 2 – 2 ½ months now and I’ve had major progress, I’ve even incorporated the herbal medicine they prescribe you at the other office. I’d recommend them for anything acupuncture can help you with.

I’m not shy about talking about my PTSD/​Anxiety/​Depression and gave Cara the full scoop (long stories short) during our initial consultation. I had made the appointment the week before — before I tripped over a proverbial cliff and had a spell of crippling depression. Cara patiently listened, coached me on trying to do more frequent deep breathing exercises, and then did an acupuncture session. What a difference! I dramatically felt more like my regular self and was able to cope with life again (which grinds to a snails pace when I’m down). She also gave me some herbs that I have not managed to incorporate into my regiment yet but plan on doing so soon. We have another appointment scheduled next week. Feeling hopeful about decreasing my chronic anxiety.

I can’t say enough about how much Six Fishes has helped me! They are my go-​to folks to alleviate my chronic pain. Did I say chronic? Not anymore! My fibromyalgia is way in check! (Thank you Cara Frank!) Pain from cervical spine herniations and tears, eased! Most recently I had stabbing pain in my knee. After one session with Joseph’s magical hands, I walked (or should I say skipped) out of the office ouch free! I highly recommend their care!

Went to Karla for some very painful back tension issues. This was my first time having any cupping or acupuncture done and she talked me through everything. Less than an hour later I walked out with tension gone and movement in my neck and shoulders back. Definitely a convert!

Had an awesome deep tissue massage by Daniel. Such a change from going to one of those chain day spas! Daniel definitely knows his stuff and is trained in multiple different types of massage — he honed in on muscles I didn’t even know were tight! Have definitely found my go — to for massage!

What an amazing surprise I found in my neighborhood! When you go down 15th street, you don’t expect to find a lovely, calming spa where you can get personalized treatments including Thai massage. I love Thai massage but find that not a lot of therapist know how to do it. I had the pleaure of meeting Jennifer who is amazing. She has a warmth that cannot be matched, and her skills are amazing. She gave me a 90 minute Thai massage that included discussing my issues, ways I can address them at home, and therapies that might solve them. It doesn’t get better than this, especially in a setting that was tranquil.
I intend to become a frequent customer. On street parking is available, online scheduling, the prices are competitive, it is wholly relaxing and personal, it offers a variety of treatments that can’t be found elsewhere, the staff is nice, the place is secure. I can’t imaging a better option — and it’s in my neighborhood!!!

I’ve been going to Cara since the beginning of the year because of health problems. I lost a lot of weight and I was very sick so my sister recommended I set up an appointment with Cara. I did not have any problems setting up my first appointment. I was not sure what to expect when I met with her but she made me feel very comfortable. It was easy to talk with her about everything and she gave me my very own herbal mixture. I’ve been in good health for a while now and I attribute that to Cara’s healing hand. She’s now a special part of my life and I thank her for that.

Cara Frank is my ‘go to’ for Chinese herbal medicine. She has thirty years experience treating patients with acupuncture and herbs. Cara created the herbal medicine program at Won institute and is a current faculty member. She really knows her stuff! Her company, China Herb is right on the premises so my herbs are fresh and of the highest quality. Her knowledge of herbs is top notch. Booking appointments is easy and can be done online, front desk staff is very friendly, and even though it’s in the city, parking is not that bad! Want a trusted practitioner for Chinese herbs? Had a wonderful pummeling massage here from Jenna, after purchasing a deal on Buy with me. (will review the acupuncture once I have had that!). I was happy they did not use oil for the massage but a nice thick cream, that was not overly greasy (I hate to squick all the way home!) Jenna was nice and asked how much pressure she should exert, and would keep asking throughout the massage. It was a nice little spot, not too far out of the way for me, and I will definitely go back!

Jennifer has a new updated business website and is now offering sliding scale massage. This new sliding scale option has been a real life saver, basicly I book my appointment with her on Mondays and let her know I want to do the pay what you can option. For an hour massage I can pay between $ 35 – 60 bucks and still get the quality touch my body needs without going broke. She is an amazing woman more concerned about you staying on a path of health and well being than becoming some ultra rich spa owner. i don’t know how i could possibly work two jobs and remain happy without her services.
