Fashion truck? Genius. Idea. Smak Parlour’s portable shop was parked at the Midtown Village Fall Festival last weekend and, at first, I walked right on by. But, darn it, the truck is just so flashy and alluring that I couldn’t help myself, and so I was compelled to head back and check out their goods. First thoughts upon entering: Their dresses are adorable! And actually affordable. I didn’t select any, as I’m not in need of a dress right now, but I will most definitely be keeping their Old City store in mind for the future. Soon, I found myself in front of their accessory collection… and picking out a bracelet($ 16). That’s weird. I don’t wear bracelets! But this one — silver, chain-linky — was super, super cute. And I feel like I’ll actually wear it. And every girl needs a bracelet, right? Right?

Saw Smak in Manayunk and decided to shop some of the jewelry. Found a necklace CLEARLY marked at $ 20. Many of the others were the same price with some at $ 15 and some $ 30 and above. When I went to pay she went to charge me $ 36. I asked why and she said«That’s what it looks like» A 2 is a 2 and a 3 is a 3; no confusion there. She asked her coworker what it «looked like»(don’t you know what your merchandise costs???) and she«thought it looked like a 3» also. I left and stopped back on my way past again and showed necklaces to quite a few people and asked how much it said and all agreed the 2 was a 2. I could imagine someone buying a few items, not really paying attention, and being ripped off by these people. Name of the truck should be Scam.

Thanks to Michelle and the Café for posting and hosting the Smak Parlour Truck! Just as I was missing the Rittenhouse pop up these trendy gals rolled up a mere block away. I grabbed my beau under the guise of «holiday shopping» and off we went. SP offers trendy styles at affordable prices and the truck did not disappoint. After checking out the bags, baubles, and dream catchers displayed on the exterior of the truck we skipped up the steps inside to scope out the clothes. Using the economy sized changing corner I decided on two long sleeve patterned crop tops after a few dresses ran a tad shorter than I’d like. I stayed true to my original purpose and bought some adorable knit wear for gifts — loved the rectangular hats that look like kitten ears when on. Missed out on this cute bag studded with metallic skulls because I wasn’t in a splurgy mood, but it’s on my radar for the next time I run into the truck. CCs accepted via square.

University City was in need of some better shopping and we got it when the ladies from Smak Parlour decided to up and start a fashion truck right in our hood. I had never been to their Old City location, but I was seriously missing out. Simply adorable clothing abounds in this little truck. There are tons of dresses, blouses, graphic tees, and a number of fun accessories. These ladies are not afraid to choose vivid, cool colors. I picked up a very unique aquamarine-blue sleeveless blouse with a large heart cut-out in the mostly open back. Perfect for summer and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments, already. There’s a reason the top is so unique, the label reads«Smak Parlour,» as in they make their own line of clothing! And it was only 30 bucks. I could easily blow through my paycheck here on my lunchbreak. Thank goodness it’s affordable!
