I really didn’t care about wedding flowers — until I saw Sullivan Owen’s designs on her website. They’re artistic and beautiful and completely unlike any of the arrangements out there. She was my first pick for wedding flowers and although we had looked at some less expensive options, no one else came close to the service or quality Sullivan was offering.
Working with Sullivan was smooth sailing the whole way. We received a detailed proposal within a week of our first consultation and they were happy to make revisions over the next few days. We had a strict budget and Sullivan was good about working within all that while providing us with extremely beautiful work.
When I mentioned how I had wanted string lighting for our ceremony but it was too expensive with our lighting company, she easily accommodated our request given her own inventory of decorative elements at a much lower cost than our lighting vendor could.
I’ve also ordered a couple special occasion arrangements from Sullivan and each time the beauty and quality is unmatched. Sullivan Owen’s work isn’t cheap, but it’s worth every penny.

For someone who creates beautiful and acclaimed floral designs, I was shocked to find that Sullivan’s customer rapport and professionalism were sorely lacking. My fiancé, his mother and I drove for 2 hours to meet with her, and before the three of us had even had the chance to sit down, Sullivan had engaged me in a seriously unpleasant conversation about budget. She said she wanted to «be direct», but there’s a not-​so-​subtle difference between being direct and being blatantly rude to your customer. We were still sorting out how much of our budget to allocate to florals, and while we were ultimately willing to pay the premium for beautiful work, Sullivan’s distasteful attitude was more than enough for us to take our business elsewhere. Her disposition truly related that her main concern was what our wedding could do for her bank account and her image, not what her services could do for our wedding. Seriously, I’m considering making you a part of the happiest day of my life– can you at least play the part? I have encountered exactly zero other vendors across the board of wedding planning who made me feel like I had to defend and pitch my own wedding to them.
What’s more, the proposal she eventually sent me was not only late but lacked any personalization to our wedding. My fiancé specifically told her he didn’t want boutonnières for his groomsmen, yet they were included in the proposal. Several other similarly overlooked details made us feel as if Sullivan pulled some old proposal off the shelf for us — certainly not the attitude a bride wants when she’s about to invest in a supposedly high-​end experience with a vendor. We are happily moving forward with other vendors who understand how to interact with their potential clients.

Whoa. I used Sullivan Owen as the floral designer for my wedding this past weekend and to say my expectations were met & exceeded would be an understatement!
So everyone knows that flowers are beautiful, right? What really got me was the design behind the flowers. Sullivan has an eye for arranging and putting together really interesting colors, textures & flowers together to make everything awesome. All of our guests raved about the flowers, and most ended up leaving with some. that’s how great they were!
Sullivan and all of her staff that I encountered over the planning process were all so friendly & professional. I came to Sullivan Owen knowing that I loved her aesthetic and that’s about it, I didn’t have very specific ideas, colors etc. We looked at a few photos and for the most part let her take it from there within our budget. I highly recommend that approach, the result was beyond awesome!

I almost didn’t go to my appointment with Sullivan Owen, because I didn’t think they would fit my wedding budget. Their arrangements are gorgeous and so artful, I thought I would need to find a less unique florist. However, Sullivan assured me she could work within my budget and she did. I kept changing my order over the summer, when I decided to have a bridal party and then when the bridal party changed. Sullivan did not get annoyed, although she could have been, and she still kept me within budget even with the additions. My flowers were amazing!!! They were soft and unique. I can’t say enough, I am only sorry I didn’t take some home with me that night.

I booked Sullivan Owen for my May wedding and she did an excellent job implementing my request for a «vintage, organic, ethereal, rustic» feel. (Yes I realize that made me sound crazy.) She responded to every email and question immediately and incorporated all the flowers we talked about at our initial meeting. She even incorporated the personal touches that I requested and did a beautiful job. Her bouquets were a unique mix of textures and details. She was able to work with my relatively small budget without a problem and delivered them promptly free of charge the morning of my wedding. I did think the bouquets were a little smaller than I had expected, but overall a truly great experience.

Woah, Sullivan, woah. I recently had my Bridal party and ceremony flowers for my wedding done by Sullivan Owen, and yeah, they were pretty amazing. Very helpful and friendly company and the flowers were so interesting and beautifully done, not at all like your boring, cookie cutter flower arrangements. I would highly recommend these guys for anyone but if you are looking for someone who really cares about making beautiful, inspired, tasteful and unique arrangements, these are those guys!

DO NOT, under any circumstances, hire Sullivan Owen to do the flowers for your wedding. In the interest of fairness, I will tell you that some of the arrangements for my wedding were very nice, even as a guy who rarely notices the flowers at a wedding, I liked them… but this alone does not make someone worthy of taking care of things on one of the most important days of your life. Many of the arrangements were not at all what was discussed or written in the contract and the company’s customer service skills need a lot of work. My family has been involved in service industries for a long time and I am sure that I don’t have to tell anyone out there that when I customer is unhappy, you go above and beyond to provide them with whatever you can to make their experience a positive one. Instead of this, my wife was subjected to unnecessary stress on her wedding day and a combative and belligerent response from the proprietor of this business, who even engaged in a juvenile attempt to defend herself on this very site when the bride’s mother expressed her unhappiness. Rather than trying to find out why her customer’s were unhappy, she decided to vehemently defend herself and disregard a customer’s concerns… is this really someone that you would want in charge of an event that is important to you? Is the work worth the risk? I would say no. This company was rated as one of «Philly’s Best» by Philly Mag, and I honestly saw flashes of the talent that would make that a well-​deserved honor… but shouldn’t the criteria for such an honor be much more strict than simply having artistic talent? The magazine obviously did not take into account customer service skills (or lack thereof) or the condescending attitude that would come along with the contract. Is it ever appropriate for a business person to tell you that the money you paid was not adequate to give you what you wanted (and I can assure you it was more than adequate, considering what we were provided) after they tell you they can do it and clearly use the money you provided them with to build up their own supplies with materials you did not ask for but they preferred? I would not recommend this florist to ANYONE, they need a great deal of work on their people skills and customer service, and I can assure you all that I will spread the word to anyone and everyone I know, both in the service/​catering/​wedding industry and out of it, not to give their business to this company. It was an immensely disappointing experience with a company that I had great expectations for prior to the event.

Not sure what has taken me so long to write this review… maybe I am still in awe of the amazing arrangements Sullivan and her team put together for our wedding months ago.
We were married on Labor Day weekend (a pretty busy weekend for the S.O. team considering they had 4 — maybe more — events that weekend). Even though they had so many other events going on, Sullivan and the team made us feel important and were always willing to give us a quick consult if we had questions.
From the day my wife met Sullivan, I knew she was in love with her work. Unique and special, every arrangement is thoughtfully done. I remember looking around our venue and scratching my head to figure out where all of these crazy/​awesome flowers came from. She and the team are super knowledgeable and are willing to think «outside of the box», which was really important to us since we are not the typical roses or carnation people. That’s not to say that she cannot do a «typical arrangement» as I’m sure she can — we just appreciated that her work was NOT cookie cutter at all.
S.O. met with my wife on many occasions to soothe her worries about the big day — something I give her extreme props for since my better half is overly detailed (one of the reasons I married her)! She coordinated pick up and delivery of some of our larger décor items since we had a house-​full of things we wanted to use and no good way to get them to the venue. She even helped me to put together a surprise arrangement to be delivered to my wife just a few days before the wedding and featured some of the amazingly funky and colorful flowers that were to be used on the wedding day.
On the day of, it wasn’t just flowers. Her team helped to set up décor throughout the venue, perfectly capturing our (my wife’s) vision for our special day.
Throughout the process, she was honest and willing to work with us in figuring out how to maximize our money, making suggestions as to where we could trim back or add to stay within our floral budget.
Since the wedding, my wife has participated in two of her flower school classes and has come home with some pretty awesome arrangements.
I would recommend S.O. and her team any day of the week for some of the most amazing arrangements in the area. It’s no wonder why she won Best of Philly 2011. I’ll be in touch for a V-​Day arrangement for the wife, without a doubt!

the arrangement was beautiful, the price very reasonable and customer service was great! and i love that they email you a pic of the final arrangement. i just wish they were closer to NYC so i could get the arrangements for myself!

I recently ordered flowers from Sullivan Owen to take on a road trip to Ohio with me for my grandmother and I couldn’t have been happier. My grandmother was a florist and comes from a long line of florist so it was super important to me that I bring her the best. I ordered the arrangement last minute, briefly mentioned that I was traveling with it, and it was promptly delivered to me at work in a carrier that was road trip friendly!
I don’t typically write reviews but I couldn’t resist this time. This kind of service and beautiful crafting should be lauded.

I can’t say enough how beautiful Sullivan’s arrangement was I ordered for my partner. Amazing & interesting flower choices & composition!
Her attention to details in every aspect of the presentation & packaging was just as nice as the arrangement itself. Also, she made a special delivery for me on my anniversary that far exceeded any service I expected or hoped for.
I hate to give her such high remarks as I want to keep her for myself, but her amazing talent needs to be shared everyone. She has a long time customer in me!
Price wise, she is the best I’ve come across & I have ordered from many florist in the city. She didn’t use alot of filler as many others do.

Sullivan Owen really made it happen for my lady on Valentine’s Day. I ordered a reasonably priced $ 50 bouquet of flowers for delivery to my sweetheart while she was at work.
The lovely bunch of dark roses came mixed with astrantia and seeded eucalyptus. Sullivan Owen also included my personalized message hand-​typed note form. Classy. The bouquet arrived in a glass vase which we will use for future flowers.
A week later and the flowers are still alive thanks to the eye dropper bottle of plant energizing vitamins included with the flowers.
My sweetheart felt the love. Sullivan Owen are awesome and will be my go-​to florist from now on.

I ordered an arrangement for wife for V-​Day. Customer service was good taking my information. The arrangement arrived on-​time and was delivered as promised. Pricing was reasonable and I felt the value definitely matched what I paid and probably exceeded it.
Arrangement: The wife loved it. She remarked how Sullivan Owen pays attention to every little detail. From the design itself (creative, not your typical FTD), to the message card typed on a vintage typewriter, to the handmade label on flower food and even the box that held the arrangement, it is very clear that great thought went into every aspect to the presentation of the arrangement and overall design.
I look forward to ordering again from Sullivan Owen and surprising my wife with another innovative and visionary arrangement. I would definitely recommend Sullivan Owen Floral & Event Design to people who are looking for something that is above and beyond the average. Impressive stuff.
