If you have lighting needs, you MUST head to The Classic Lighting Emporium. The place is full of many vintage or antique lighting options, as well as furniture. The staff is incredibly helpful, and they are not trying to rip you off. Samith super knowledgeable and offered me advice on my broken industrial pendants free of charge. $ 30 to have them rewired sounds like a deal to me!

I recently found a perfect mid-mod fixture here, and the price was less than a cheap knockoff from a big box home supply store! Sam cleaned, repaired, rewired and repainted it to my specific color and length requirements. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I did have to call to remind him about my fixture, but he got it done on time, and it’s beautiful.

I’ve always walked by this place on the way to Johnny Brenda’s, but I never actually popped in… until today. Wow! The lighting in this place is unbelievable. It’s like you’ve been transported back to the early 1900s. For the most part it’s not my style or really within my price range, but seriously, they have some incredible antique lighting items. It also looks like they have a shop in the back where they do restorations. This would be the place to go if you need lighting for a period piece movie or for a new restaurant maybe? Overall very cool… and cold… it’s an old warehouse.

I have purchased a number of pieces here. Astounding selection of fine quality lighting in a broad range of antique styles and sizes. There is so much to look at that I advise going a few times because it is easy to miss something right in front of you. They are great about loaning you a piece to take home and look at it in your space. Sam, the guy who fixes the lighting and really runs the place is a sweetheart. The owner is very down to earth. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because some of their pricing is right on and others are super inflated. Also, they can be scattered and off in communication.

Beautiful things here! Just fantastic! The entire upstairs of this gigantic building is lamp shades lamp globes etc. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything here, it’s fun just to walk around and appreciate the detail in some of the pieces inside. You can find good deals here ! It’s really like a museum of antique lamps inside… I wouldn’t let small children run loose inside though cause if you break it you buy it! Great place to purchase a gift or to find a really cool piece to add to your home furnishings.

While walking past this Olde City hidden treasure I noticed that the space was apparently vacant. It made me sad to think this business had closed. I’d bought a lamp there soon after moving to Philly and before my possessions had arrived in state(um, I mean commonwealth). I also had some repair work done on some of my old illuminating devices. I used to really enjoy roaming around the store, trying not to knock into anything, and being dazzled by the overwhelming lighting options. Sheer brilliance covered in a fine coat of dust. My initial panic at the out-of-business indications were all for naught. Upon my getting home, a short internest search revealed not a closure, but a mere relocation. I can only hope that their new location inspires someone to the wonderment that I experienced wandering amongst this forest of fixtures.

This place is awesome. You could not find a bigger selection of vintage and specialty lighting anywhere. Tommy really knows his stuff, very generous, and has world class. They do repair work here as well as selling pieces they have refurbished.
