The Classy Taxi

One unfortunate night I had the ungodly luck of being ran off the road by a drunk driver on my bicycle and injuring my shoulder. I managed to make it home but within a few hours my pain was excruciating. My girlfriend gave Jack a call in the very early morning asking if he could give us a ride to the emergency room. Despite having an 8am appointment with another client, he was able to squeeze us in, picking us up promptly and driving us to the nearest hospital safely and swiftly. I can’t thank him enough for his courteousness and professionalism he displayed that morning for picking me up on a moment’s notice and being more than happy to drive me as such a godawful hour in the morning.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve rode in the Classy Taxi and it certainly won’t be the last. Although I have multiple modes of transportation and extensive knowhow of public transportation, I always know that I can rely on Jack to pull through in the clutch whenever I need him; Anything from one beer too many to an emergency trip on the shortest notice, the Classy Taxi is on speed dial and will remain so.

Filled out the reservation form on the webpage for an airport drop off 6 hours later. Jack replied back to me with a confirmation and estimate within 15 minutes. He was on time and is a cool guy to talk to.

From reservation to drop off, this was a pleasant and professional service. They were easy to get ahold of, friendly and punctual. I will definitely book my airport rides with them again.

I decided to give Classy Taxi a try after reading all of the positive reviews. I called a day before my flight and booked my ride. The gentleman on the phone said that his partner Jack would pick me up in the morning at 8:30. At 8:40 I called to see how much later they would be. Jack answered the phone and said that his partner never told him about the pick-​up and that it would impossible for him to get to Old City in time. Frantically I started to walk down 6^th street in the rain with my luggage in tow to try to hail a cab around Independence Mall. Wet and frustrated I successfully made it to the airport with minutes to spare. I really hoped that Classy Taxi would be my carrier of choice.

I had an early morning flight, and figured I would arrange a cab the night before. The problem was the first couple of companies I called did not pick-​up at 10:00 pm. Nervous. Based on the feedback here, I called & texted Jack at the Classy Taxi for a 6:30 am pickup. I didn’t get a chance to speak to him, so I was going on faith, but I figured he’d be reliable. He texted me at 5:00 am (woke me up, but that was OK) and said he was on it. Sweet.
Note: he lends his cab to another guy at night and on weekends, which Jack said makes him nervous entrusting his customers to someone else. I guess it’s working so far. I will use him again for sure.

There comes a point in time where enough is enough with the unpredictability of Philadelphia’s taxi system. When I recently needed a ride to 30^th Street Station, I got in touch with The Classy Taxi via Twitter and booked an appointment. One minute before my pick-​up time, a white cab came whipping around the corner and I was speeding away in the backseat seconds later. I dare say it was the first time I ever arrived to the station without heart palpitations and anxiety from running late.
A few days later I again booked Jack’s services and was not disappointed. With baseball in the background, we chatted about this and that. It won’t be long before my next appointment.

I needed a ride to the airport so the day before I searched ‘airport taxi’ on Unilocal and this came up. First I called, but since I was at work I ended up texting where and when I needed to be picked up. I also asked if I’d be able to get a printed receipt and if I could pay with Discover. I got a prompt answer that all of those things would happen. In the morning — I’m talking still dark kind of early — Jack called to let me know he was downstairs, he greeted me, and we took off. I was at PHL shortly thereafter. I am so glad Unilocal helped me find this guy because I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Next time I need a ride, I’m calling this guy.

As someone who is frequently frustrated by the quality of cab drivers in our fair city, The Classy Taxi is a breath of fresh air in an environment filled with smog. This was one of the best taxi rides I’ve experienced.
I was able to book Jack (the proprietor) for a very early morning pickup. We communicated via e-​mail and text so he could confirm the time for my pickup. He arrived early, with a clean vehicle and welcoming smile. At 4:45 AM, I was barely functional, I just knew I had to make it to the airport.
I arrived at my gate a mere 15 minutes later. My experience was perfect. HIs manner and professionalism eased all of my transportation anxiety and I will certainly be using The Classy Taxi again.

Easy to get a hold of, responsive, on-​time and professional. Jack is your man for late night transport or a ride to the airport. I like having a friendly face as my ride when needed. Also, his cab is clean and so is he.

Cant say enough great things about the classy taxi. Jack is so sweet and was literally at my door within seconds of when he said he would be. So personable and pleasant — if I ever have to take another taxi in Philly, jack is without a doubt the first person I’m calling! (just hope he’s not too booked up by that point!)

The name says it all. A taxi driver you can trust. Everytime I hail a cab on the street, I reget not calling Jack. Once you’ve ridden a mile in his cab, you will too.

I was in Philadelphia some weeks ago, so this review is a bit late. However, late is no less heartfelt. Jack is a gentleman, a safe driver, on time and hip. I’m glad I ran into him, and once I did, his was my go to taxi service. When I return to Philadelphia, I’ll call him and use his company exclusively. Jack is the best.

The Classy Taxi will be there, if requested, promptly at 2 when the bar closes so you are not waiting in the cold or wandering around just asking to get raped or mugged. My favorite thing is that The Classy Taxi waits for you to unlock your door and get inside safely before pulling away, even if there is another car behind him. Best music in a cab ever!

Jack is my favorite new folk hero. You’re stuck in South Philly blizzard hell? Don’t sweat it, Jack will come all the way back from Fishtown just to save you. What’s that about having a rock show all the way up in Kensington? Jack will take you, and then he’ll even come in and watch your band. No matter where you are in this city, Jack will be there in the time it takes you to snort another line in the bathroom and finish your last cigarette.
