Havan Room had great food but service was just satisfactory. Great music and atmosphere. I’d come here again

Great outdoor seating in the summer. The mango margaritas were really delicious too. The appetizers were pretty pricy and they were especially stingy with the plantain chips that came with the ceviche and the guacamole apps. Boo! The entrees were better priced relating to the portion size and quality. I had the plantain encrusted red snapper, which was perfectly cooked on a bed of kale. The kale was really salty, so I didn’t eat too much of it, but I ate the whole filet of fish. My boyfriend had the suckling pig entrée which came in a block form of shredded meat along with a side of adorable little caramelized carrots. He really enjoyed it. The service was really great, especially for handling so well the large party of 12 we were with. I would come back for the outside seating and yummy margaritas.

The Havana Room was fine. The squid ink paella was good, but then again, everything with squid ink on it is good… including chia pets and gummy worms. The Havana Room offers a variety of mojitos, and if you’re feeling so inclined, the watermelon is great — tasting slightly of alcohol and mostly of watermelon.

My friend and I went in today to have some lunch today at Havana room and we had just a terrible terrible experience. The whole place was empty and it took for ever for the one server to take our order and get a salad and a gazpacho order with plantain chips to the table. Lastly when I paid for the bill the restaurant charged us wrong, the waiter ran around trying to correct the wrong charge, it took 20 minutes for the waiter to fin the manager and correct the problem. The thing is they haven’t corrected the problem. Now I have to look after my bank account for their mistake and start an investigation to try to get the charges cancelled. Skip this place, go anywhere, or pay with cash but don’t expect good service.

It’s been a while since I ate here but I had something with squid ink which I enjoyed thoroughly. If you see something on the menu with squid ink on it, that is probably what I had.

I’ve never tried Cuban food, so I was very excited to see what adventure The Havana Room menu would take me on. I started off with some tropical Ceviche with baby octopus. The texture of the ceviche was amazing. It was very tasty and refreshing. Next I had the Cubano Sandwhich. All the ingredients were clearly very fresh and bread was toasted to the perfect crunch. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff was very polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Havana Room to anyone else looking for a great bite to eat in a calm atmosphere. The outdoor backyard was also very nice and if it wasn’t so hot out, I would have enjoyed my lunch out there.

We left here as soon as we could, which took a while since service was as slow as a turtle crossing railroad tracks with an oncoming train. Our table of 4 began our meal with the empanada de queso y maiz, choriqueso con maduros, and chicharrones de pollo y platano. Or, that’s what we asked for anyway. After waiting ~15−20 minutes — quite a long time given it was early evening and the restaurant was far from being packed — for the appetizers to come out, one of the waiters explained that one of our dishes was a «beef empanada.» To this, we responded that we didn’t order a beef empanda, and in fact had ordered a cheese empanada. The waiter retorted that they did not sell a «cheese empanada,» but given that«empanada de queso y maiz«means«cheese and corn,» we begged to differ. We spoke to our original waitress about this, and she happily replaced our dish. Onto the food itself — the choriqueso con maduros was by far the most favorable dish of the night — with rich, melted manchego covering Spanish chorizo. One change we would make to the dish would be to serve it with fried plantain chips to given it more texture, rather than ripen, warmed plantains that made the whole dish too«mushy.» The chicharrones de pollo y platano were so-so — the banana salsa was good, but the chicken was dry and the breading lacked flavor. The empanada — the correct one — would have been good had there been enough filling proportional to the amount of dough. Next, entrees! One of us had ordered the«fresh catch of the day» — I put this in quotes because I hypothesize it’s actually the«frozen catch of the day.» We arrived ~7PM, so it was still quite early for restaurant operations. But, 2 minutes after taking our orders, our waitress came back telling us that they had ran out of the«fresh catch of the day.» Given the early hours and very few customers, my conclusion was that either they had very very very few fresh catches to begin with, or they ran out of frozen fish to masquerade as fresh fish. After another 20 minutes and a sincere apology form our waitress(who was very nice throughout our time there), our entrees arrived. I had ordered the salmon con fufu y almendra, which, if it had arrived hot on the plate, I would have given the restaurant an additional star. Instead, it was lukewarm and disappointing. We skipped out on dessert.

I booked a reservation to Havana Room, solely based on the Unilocal reviews, and frankly, I can’t understand what people see in this place. I’ll admit that it has potential, but it is mediocre at best. The food is somewhat Cuban, though the preparation is unimaginative. The indoor atmosphere is cold(a cement cube), but the back yard patio has a lot of potential for a warm summer evening. They really should invest in some outdoor heaters as this would make outdoor dining more pleasant. The service was not good. Our waiter had dirty finger nails, looked and acted stoned, and would disappear for long stretches of time. Getting our bill was a 15 minute search via the hostess, the bartender and manager, just to get someone to get the check. My mojito was very sugary, syrupy and just plain too sweet. I could see returning if I was looking for a super casual atmosphere and a summer drink. This place reminds me of the Jamaican Jerk Hut combined with the Silk City patio. Don’t bother dressing up for the Havana Room, the patrons are in shots and flip-flops.

They assisted with my daughter’s 30th Birthday party. We were in contact about the menu for weeks in advance. They had difficulty getting things out on time and getting the orders confused. And some quests didn’t get served their meals in a timely manner. They were seriously upset and we had to step in. It seems that the person taking care of our event didn’t communicate with the wait staff or check with us. The foods for the most part was great, the small Empanadas needed work. «Dry» is the word. As well as the fry’s, cold and hard. The Quac and chips, very nice. The«cheesey beef with plantains were extra yummy. The cuban sandwich was good. I wish them to continue to get better and succeed. Thanks to Steve, Williamm, Pete and Ashlee for working on it.

This place exceeded my expectations. My wife and a friend of ours decided that we were in the mood for some late night mojitos, so we decided to venture over to the Havana Room on a Thursday night around 11:00 P.M. Upon walking into this establishment we were blown away by the décor and the care that was taken into making the outside dinning area inviting. The three of us sat down in the outside courtyard. This area came complete with tables, lights, trees and a fire ring. We were very impressed and already began making plans to come back. The mojitos we ordered were very good, just the right amount of citrus, mint and simple sugar. The mojitos were crisp and well balanced, without being overly sweet. I had two classics and I very much enjoyed the sip of the raspberry mojito my wife allowed me to have. While we did not eat anything at The Havana Room, the food that I did see looked great and smelled amazing. I am very much looking foward to my return to this establishment.

I’m not a big review writer, more of a reader. But I like to drop couple lines if the place was either awesome or horrible! In this case — its a positive one. Great place for summer! We ate dinner there and were sited outside: great atmosphere, couldn’t be a better place to enjoy good food and the weather, the waiter was really sweet and funny too. Truthfully, I wasn’t expecting the food to be that great at all, but it was! We ordered seafood ceviche — delicious!, red snapper — awesome, chicken — huge portion(I was shocked!) — everything was spectacular! And mochitos were delicious too. Definitely gonna go back there again while its nice out and to try the other stuff they have on the menu!

Great décor and atmosphere, service was attentive and helpful. The outside area was fun to hangout and grab some food and drinks. Not a fan of the classic mojito, it was quite strong and didn’t have the hints of sweet lime and mint that i am accustomed to. Basically it was like I was sipping on straight rum with hints of mojito flavors. Wanting to make sure that this wasn’t just the Cuban style of mojito(and I was not being a ignorant fool), I asked the server if they were typically made to be this way at Havana Room, and she said yes. So I guess the lesson here isn’t whether or not it was made correctly, but whether or not I was made to my taste. And the answer to that one is no, so I guess I’ll try something else next time. Secondly, the food. It came out in a timely fashion, which was impressive for our fairly large order. Most notable were the cubanas, hot fresh and tasty, and dubbed by my native cuban friend as «legit». To me, it was just ok, and although the taste was good, the price was steep. Other apps were fun to try and pretty good, just overall a little pricey. I think this place will be a summer hit, it’s trendy and fun. I’ll like to give it another try sometime to see if there are changes, as they have only recently opened.

I went here during the afternoon and we were the only table. Our service was mediocre and after my friend ordered a veggie burger, the waiter came back to tell her she couldn’t have it because they were out. Seriously? It’s only 3pm and don’t your cooks communicate with your servers? Our food came out at different times over a 20 min span. I had a suckling pig sandwich and it was pretty fatty. There wasn’t much meat in it but at least the bread was fresh. The dressing they put on my salad was way too salty to the point where I couldn’t eat it. My friend got a club sandwich and she said it was very dry. Her fries looked like rejects, all composed of broken up pieces. No fry over 1″ long. Cool atmosphere for drinks but I probably won’t eat here again.
