The Latham Hotel Philadelphia

I booked this hotel for a Saturday night through Expedia for $ 135+ tax; the original price I believe is upwards of $ 250+.
The room wasn’t too spacious but it was tidy, modern, and welcoming. It had all the basic features and amenities that a modern hotel would have.
The hotel itself is in a prime location in the heart of Philadelphia and is an easy walk to the popular tourist locations such as the Reading Terminal Market and shops. My girlfriend and I found ourselves coming back to the hotel to take a break and drop things off or pick things up.
Parking in this area in Philadelphia is not easy and they command $ 30 or $ 35 for valet parking which I think is reasonable compared to the other parking lots in the area. You can take your car in and out as you please until 5pm the next day which I thought was great as you can spend another full day there and just take the car in the evening on your way home.
The BEST part of the hotel is that they have a complimentary driver (named John) who will drop you off and pick you up from a three mile radius within the hotel in the hotel’s Audi R8. Not sure if we got lucky but he was available as soon as we got into the lobby and he was able to drop us off at Sabrina’s (a popular brunch spot located in Little Italy) and pick us back up. He gave us great recommendations along the way and he’s an all around great guy; don’t forget to tip him!
It’d be a no-​brainer for me to stay at this hotel again if I were to make another visit to Philly.

A near excellent overnight stay.
My wife and I visit Philly twice a year, every year for the past 7 years. Since discovering it, my heart is in Philly. Absolutely love coming to this awesome city.
When we do spend the night, we have always stayed at the Loews Hotel Philadelphia on Market Street. Its one of my all time favorite hotels– the décor, the feeling of grandeur, the hospitality and the food, always top notch. And at $ 380+ per night, you get what you pay for.
This time around we did not want to spend so much for a hotel and decided to try one of the less expensive options. Note, I did not say «cheap option», I said less expensive because I refuse to stay at a cheap hotel. We just did not need as many amenities as the Loews typically provides.
At an excellent last minute deal price of $ 150 per night, my options were The Latham and the Hotel Meridian. Truthfully I really wanted to go with the Meridian over the Latham because it looked more upscale in the photographs. However it was the Latham we chose because of their cancellation policy.
Upon arriving at the Latham, a few things instantly annoyed me. First its in a VERY busy neighborhood in Center City surrounded by other boutique hotels and clubs meaning traffic just to arrive in front of the Latham was crazy. Next, once you pull up in front of the hotel there are only four or five parking spots for valet available. All were taken. And since traffic is terrible on the street, you can’t even wait a few minutes to see if a spot opens up because people are constantly honking at you. So it took me three go arounds to finally decide valet parking was not worth it. Instead, a mere block away, we found a parking lot which only cost $ 23 for 24 hours (versus $ 39 at the hotel). Saved me money and aggravation.
Once we arrived at the hotel, I was a little annoyed (and hungry and tired), but pleasantly surprised. The lobby, though on the small side boasted classic art deco/​hollywood chic décor which was very warm and inviting. The concierge people were friendly and professional and check in was quick.
Upon entering our 9^th floor king room we realized it was a small room. Perhaps one of the smaller hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. Up there with the Brexton Hotel in Baltimore. Although small, the room had character, a sensible layout and large windows which opened up the space and let a lot of natural light as well as the Philadelphia architecture in.
The bathroom, surprisingly was huge and loved the design. I think we received one of the ADA wheelchair accessible rooms (which was fine by us!) because it gave us the walk in glass enclosed shower plus an additional nook in the bedroom area.
The bed was clean, comfortable and provided a night of much needed rest. Check out was as easy as check in.
Highly recommend this gem of a hotel and would stay here again!

Good location, good view, friendly staff, and a hotel we would stay at again. Perfect place to walk through Philly and check out all of the sites. Plenty of shopping, restaurants, bars, and sites.

Biggest issue for me is the room was much smaller than I expected. The gym has a great view. It’s a good location and they have a car service available (excluding going to the airport). Pass on room service, it was a waste of money. Another plus for me is the free water.

Very chic and perfect for our budget when my friends and I did a trip to Philly. Staff was really friendly (we especially enjoyed Brandon and his hospitality) and overall easy place to like. Location was everything when coming back late with all quick and good food within walking distance.

Terrific place & they were very good to us! This is a grand old boy of a hotel that was renovated without losing its character. If you could open the window of our 5^th floor room, you could touch the classical, exterior stone ornamentation on the hotel’s façade. Security is good considering it IS downtown Philly: Key card access to the elevator as well as to the rooms, and a roomy safe with an electronic combo to keep you covered in your absence.
Linens were crisp and the room very clean. In-​room Keurig coffee, and two bottles of water, are complimentary. Also, the hotel’s courtesy car — a brand new Audi sedan — is complimentary for lift within a few miles’ radius. That took care of business to return us to the SEPTA regional trains at Jefferson Station.
Quick check out. Check in was pretty funny. Be aware that the posted 3 PM check-​in is observed with military precision. There were quite a few early birds milling about the lobby, card room, and restaurant awaiting the appointed hour.

I had a very short stay at the Latham, as it was 3am when we checked in for the one night stay. We did not get to use any amenities, but the customer service was amazing. Every staff member we encountered was very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help us out. The room was also clean, large and well laid out. The bathrooms were a little on the smaller side, but still large enough to handle business. Also, the water pressure was a little lower for those that care about that kind of thing. The toiletries were great. I would definitely come back here.

Had a nice stay at The Latham Hotel in Rittenhouse House Square ! The Latham is located in a great area lots of place to eat, have a few drinks, shop and relax in the park. Also, on the weekends they have a nice market around the park where you can purchase everything from flowers to cheese… great find!

Incredible location with excellent value. We stayed two nights with 3 people, 2 dogs and 2 rooms. Since we were arriving at 11:30am, I requested early check in for at least one room so we had somewhere to keep the dogs. Both rooms were ready immediately upon arrival.
The staff is so accommodating. They helped with tons of luggage and helped me get my car fixed during my stay. There is also a courtesy car to take you anywhere in the city. This was extremely helpful for my elderly parents. Joe was always at the ready with helpful suggestions on where to eat and what tours to take.
It’s a upscale boutique hotel but the price is very reasonable. The hotel is located in rittenhouse square which has lots of great restaurants and shopping. Beautiful park one block away to take to dogs for a walk.
I would definitely return ! The staff make it such a great experience.

I stayed at The Latham while visiting Philadelphia. I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time staying at this hotel. The staff was professional whiling checking in and out. If it’s a busy time, it can take a while for the elevators. My room was on a high floor which was a plus (decent view of the city). The rooms were clean and well maintained. I had a problem with my bathtub but Latham staff did a good job correcting it. There’s a restaurant on site (happy hour specials). Latham has a beautiful Audi to drive guest to certain locations (if available). Latham is within walking distance of different shops and restaurants. If you’re driving, it’s best to valet because Latham is located in a busy section of Philly. Valet parking is very pricey but it’s your best option in my opinion. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Latham Hotel Philadelphia.

This is my first time staying at this hotel. I come to Philadelphia for work a few times a year, and always love to try new places.
I checked in around 8:30pm, and had to run to the FedEx down the street to make copies for my meetings tomorrow morning (since Latham doesn’t have a color printer). I get back to my room and call room service at 9:15pm. They tell me the kitchen is closed, that it closed at 9. They said there was nothing they could do. We hang up and I check the menu, where it clearly indicates they serve dinner until 10pm. I call back to mention this, and the gentlemen says the kitchen closed early for a private event this evening.
I called the front desk to inform them of my disappointment, as I feel they should have notified me upon check in. As a young solo female traveler, all I wanted was a nice meal in the comfort of my room. Now I have to go find food on my own late at night. The front desk said they would let the GM, but for this reason, I will not stay here in the future.

In order to beat the morning traffic last week, I decided to spend the night at The Latham Hotel on 17^th Street, and meet with visiting nephew, niece and baby-​neph for breakfast the next day.
Brilliant, if I don’t say so myself!
Everything from the online reservations, front desk, room, to valet parking was first rate. I remembered being here maybe 15 years ago, when the place had slipped into a less than optimal condition, but the new version is just fine.
I loved my 5^th floor corner room. It was New York small, but clean and very comfortable. My windows overlooked both 17^th Street and the Philadelphia Baptist Church, whose spires filled up one window with an old-​Europe sensibility. I actually moved the HDTV out of the way so I could see it more clearly and take photos. The bed was firm and I had way too many pillow choices. Plenty of hot water and pressure in the morning rush times.
The only issue I had was with the parking. While the valet is convenient, at $ 39 per night, it is expensive. It would be better if upon reserving a room, the hotel provided detailed information on parking options (location, cost, in/​out), and allowed the customer the ability to prepare in advance for using self parking down the street. It might only save a fin or two, but having preferences honored is what good guest services is all about.
I would certainly stay at The Latham again. This is a great spot in Center City, just off Rittenhouse Square, with plenty of streetlife for everyone’s taste and habits.

I have stayed here over 10 times, and each time I fall more and more in love with it!
The lobby (although fairly small) is absolutely STUNNING! You’re greeted by a beautifully oversized crystal chandelier, posh furniture, and oversized ceilings. From the lobby, turn right, and you’ll find yourself in their beautiful corner bar that serves awesome drinks and really good food! (The bartender is super sweet and even gave us free drinks on my birthday!)
Turn left and you’ll walk into a beautifully decorated room for intimate gathering, oversized window that opens up to the street, and a gorgeous seating area (I had my 30^th birthday here where the bartender served us the free drinks!)
They are always so friendly and accommodating, from the front desk to the bar to the room service! My favorite part is the gym, it still on level 2 and has floor to ceiling windows that allows you to work out while people watching in trendy Rittenhouse. They always have complimentary towels, headphones and water too. (See pics!)
The rooms are stunning as well. You seriously feel like you’re in a presidential suite! The beds are so comfy I literally get depressed when I get home to mine! Haha. Another thing I find unique is their carpet, I know that’s odd, but I love it! All the rooms have a mini fridge, coffee maker, and flat screen.
The bathrooms are my favorite part! The one I had last trip had an almost mirrored ceiling and all marble oversized bathroom, and a HUGE shower. It was so elegant.
Another awesome perk is the FREE car service! That’s right, FREE! They will take you anywhere in Center City in their super nice Audi! The driver was awesome, of course!
Really I can’t stop raving about this place! I highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re not familiar with the area because it’s right in the heart of everything! The best shopping and restaurants are right at your doorstep. Rittenhouse Park is only a block away, which is so gorgeous (especially during the spring)!
This is the only place I’ll stay in the city of brotherly love! Love you guys!!!

Excellent hotel option in downtown Philadelphia. Great value for the price if you can get a discounted rate. Super-​friendly and professional staff, several complimentary items available (water, wifi, papers), and a few neat little touches like a small boardgameroom/​lounge with very comfortable chairs. Also, the free (when available) car service around the area is a great bonus. Will definitely recommend to out-​of-​town guests.

I had quite a nice experience at The Latham Hotel!
Everything was up to date, extremely comfortable, and clean. The service was great, WIFI was available all over the hotel, we felt well-​paid attention to, and enjoyed the downstairs bar for a quick predrink before heading out! The location is perfect, steps away from so many great sights, restaurants, and bars.
I’ll definitely be back!

My crew and I were in town for a day for a film shoot on Christmas Eve/​Day and The Latham became our home. The rooms are very comfortable with tasteful modern stylings. We had spectacular views of the city skyline from our rooms.
The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, genuinely nice people. Beyond the standard services the staff provides, everyone on the team went the extra bit to accommodate or special requests with loads of equipment cases and a number of vehicles.
We ate all our meals from the kitchen of the Urban Enoteca, the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious and we were welcomed to use a number of tables in the dining room for eating, working at our computers and meetings. The chef is all about local and fresh ingredients. The fare is Italian fusion. They also prepare standards for room service.
My only complaint is that we could not stay longer. I did not get a chance to visit the fitness/​or spa offerings but the business support — free wifi and printing included — was a great help for us. Thank you Latham Hotel Staff.

I am genuinely very pleasantly surprised by Latham’s interest in Helena satisfaction. After speaking with Mike, I realized that this could have been a one-​time fluke in an otherwise well-​oiled valet machine. We were able to resolve the issue of parking.
Way to go, Latham. We can get back together, if you’ll have me.

This place is totally dependent on price. I paid a little over a $ 100 on a Saturday night this summer and thought it was totally a wonderful option. Perfectly located centrally so you’re totally able to walk anywhere in the center city or beyond if you’re ambitious. If you’re not a walker, they have an Audi available for rides within a 2 mile radius from the hotel.
The hotel room itself was solid. Big comfy bed, flat screen with not too many channels and a decent bathroom. The hotel itself was super small in the matter that there is really no lobby and 2 crickety elevators that take forever; not quite luxurious.
Overall, if you’re paying at a huge discount, this hotel is great. If you’re paying the full $ 300+ room rate, you will be disappointed.
Free wifi is always a plus in my book!

The wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Latham Hotel during our mini-​vacation in Philly a few weeks back. After booking train tickets for our vacation, Amtrak made some recommendations for hotels. Latham came up, but were outside of my target price range. After some independent research I stumbled upon Latham, went to their website, and saw that they were offering special rates — $ 150 a night Thurs and Fri, and $ 175 for Saturday. Of course, this was before the ridiculously high city hotel tax, but in the end I wound up paying in the $ 180-​$ 185 a night for a gorgeous boutique hotel in a great location with nice amenities.
Our room with a king sized bed was a good size for a city hotel. The rooms we’ve had in DC or Charleston, SC were smaller. The bathroom was normal-​sized, and everything worked perfectly. There was plenty of room to work at the desk if needed, or relax in a comfy chair, and there was a small alcove area to keep our luggage. The king-​sized bed was SUPER comfy. The wife wished we had whatever mattress they use there. As noted, the elevators are SUPER small. That, and the lack of hot water the first night, were the only down sides. (And when the hot water works, be careful, it can get REALLY hot)
The complimentary car service is fantastic. They use an Audi A8, so you are pimpin’ Philly in style. Both of the drivers we had were professional, courteous, and friendly. One of them took time to point out a lot of the city’s landmarks. We used them Friday to get to Reading Terminal Market, and then back from dinner at Morimoto’s. And then Sunday to take us back to the Amtrak station.
I’ll add a separate review for their onsite restaurant, Urban Enoteca, but the wife and I stopped in there pretty much every night. The bartender there was great fun and took care of us well. Inventive cocktails, decent beer selection, and really good food.
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and we will definitely be staying here in the future.

I stayed for one night at The Latham Hotel in Philly. I expected to like this place a lot more, but overall it wasn’t that great.
Pros: Very comfy bed, I wanted to steal the pillows. The overall atmosphere was nice. The location; in the heart of all the shopping and not too far from some major attractions like museums, etc.
Cons: Freezing and it took forever for the heat to finally circulate our room. We had to crank it to the max degrees in order to feel any warmth. Tiny elevators. The valet took FOR… EV…ERRRR. If I was in a rush I would have been pissed, but I wasn’t so whatev. I would say we waited about 30+ minutes. Not OK.
I would not come back here, but at the same time it wasn’t a super bad experience, so book at your own risk.
