Specialties
The Spiral Bookcase is Manayunk’s neighborhood bookshop, located at 112 Cotton St. We specialize in all genres of used books, as well as some new titles. Our used titles include hard to find and out of print editions, and we can fill special orders if you are looking for a particular title. We also have a small selection of jewelry, artwork, and paper goods available for sale.
History
Established in 2010.
We opened in Manayunk because we love the charm and history of the neighborhood and bought our first home here in June, 2009. After moving, we discussed that a bookshop would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and in January of 2010 we were ready to make that a reality. After months of planning we opened for business on July 17th, 2010. Initially we were only open on weekends, but now we are happy to be open Tuesday-Sunday.
Meet the Business Owner
Ann T.
Business Owner
I grew up reading every book I could get my hands on. My parents are schoolteachers and instilled a very deep appreciation of learning and reading. On trips we would visit used bookstores (most notably The Crow Bookshop, VT and Raven Books, MA) and I would spend hours browsing their selections. After graduating with a B.A. in English and M.A. in Folk Studies and Historic Preservation I began a career at the Library of Congress as a Copyright Specialist. During that time, I not only learned about the book industry and copyright, but also selected books for the library’s holdings, building my knowledge on book collecting.
