Triangle Medical

I loved Rebecca Calder, the PA. She was extremely thorough, took her time and always mentioned plenty of options rather than trying to push medication on me. She always told me that if I needed anything to give her a call and she would squeeze me in (I was suffering an extreme case of sciatica and she knew I was in a lot of pain) I’m so sad to hear that she isn’t there anymore. I don’t even live in the area but was always willing to make the trip down if needed.
I agree with the other reviews; the receptionists here are the worst. They never answer the phones and when they do they’re extremely rude. One once cut me off in mid sentence after I was explaining what Rebecca told me to tell them in case they couldn’t squeeze me in without apology. Other times they speak to you like you’re an idiot or they can’t be bothered. What a shame. I’ve heard great things about Dr Watkins too, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

I want to give five stars for Rebecca Caulder and Dr. Watkins, but 1 star for the receptionists. I read what another person said about the receptionists being intimidating when you’re sick and they’re spot on. Rebecca and Dr. Watkins are WONDERFUL, kind, caring, helpful, and great listeners. The receptionists are not great. I have never once gotten a call back when leaving a message, and when on the phone with the older one she treats you like you’re a waste of her time. I only get help if I actually physically go into the office to talk to someone. But it is a pain in the butt to have to go into the office every time I need a prescription error fixed, clarification on a test, or to confirm an appointment – especially when sick and you have trouble moving around.
I recently had a bout of sickness where I was essentially bed-​ridden and needed to submit some samples for tests. The doctor forgot to give me a prescription to give to the lab, so I left a message at the office to ask for clarification and for a prescription. I tried calling again and nobody picked up. I never received a call back. From past experience I knew leaving another message would not produce a result. I was too sick to get into the office myself to try to speak to someone in person and did not have anyone who could do it for me. In the end I never got the tests and simply held on until I improved enough to go back to work. This was the last straw. As much as I love Dr. Watkins and Rebecca (can’t emphasize this enough!), I need an office that is more responsive. I will have to change practitioners until I live within walking distance of the office.

After moving to Philadelphia and not knowing the area well, I am very lucky to have found Triangle Medical and be under the care of Rebecca Calder, PA. I came in for something that I felt was just a minor problem that would soon pass, but no problem was too small for Rebecca, she did a careful exam and after the results of a set of blood work called me back personally and gave me an incredibly detailed overview of areas where I’m doing well vs on the edge of being in a risk category.
Furthermore, the office was running right on time (only waited a few minutes), was convenient to get to in Center City, and the entire staff was pleasant and helpful.
I’m so pleased to have found Triangle Medical and specifically delighted with the care I received from Rebecca.

So I just noticed that I wrote a review for Dr. Mark Watkins in 2008 but have not posted anything about their practice since. I am now seeing Rebecca Calder and am just as happy. Was there just today to follow up on a knee injury I sustained while skiing and wanted to see my regular doc upon returning from my trip. Rebecca got me scheduled in with Rothman Orthopedics on Friday. I have always felt very comfortable talking to her and Mark about whatever medical issues I have experienced.

Rebecca was the PA that I saw. She was awesome! I went in for just an annual checkup (like to have one done every year just in case anything is amiss and get routine blood work), and she was very professional, quick, and made sure to answer any questions I had. She was also able to recommend a good multivitamin and calcium supplement (she also likes good tasting vitamins and supplements and not disgusting ones).
Also, in discussing my allergy medication regimen, we discovered that I was taking my nasal spray incorrectly. How have I been to doctors for 10 years and never discovered this??? Apparently you’re not supposed to spray AND inhale at the same time (oops!).
The blood work was scheduled to come in the following Monday, and when it came in, she called me to let me know everything was normal, and even gave my numbers as well as the «normal range» for everything they tested for in case I was curious! Definitely above and beyond my experience in the past with other doctors!
I should mention, I am straight, married female, so this place is definitely not just for gay men. It’s for anyone who is looking for great medical care in with a knowledgeable staff who actually care and take the time with you!
I have a friend who also goes here (which I found out after I had scheduled my appointment) who had a minor health issue. It was mentioned that they handled the issue with a professional, non-​judgmental attitude, which makes me happy, because there’s nothing worse than going to a doctor and having to tell them about your personal health issues and then being afraid that you’ll be judged.

I am soooo happy to have found my family doctor!!! (see also reviews for Dr. Mark Watkins). I’m writing my review under Triangle Medical because I didn’t actually see Dr. Watkins on my last visit, but rather I saw the PA, Rebecca. But in general I think this whole medical practice is WONDERFUL. Everyone was very courteous and friendly, which is so important for a Dr’s office. I love that this is a small office and it’s not over crowded and bustling. Rebecca was so friendly during my exam that I felt like I was talking to a friend. I also loved the fact that they do their bloodwork in house instead of sending me to a lab. And, Rebecca called me back the next day with my test results! I couldn’t have asked for better or faster service.
I never thought that I would be able to find such a warm and friendly Dr’s office in the city… It’s nice not to have to be treated like number in a line.

Not just for the gays. Am I allowed to say that, tongue in cheek? A lot of the reviews for Triangle Medical stress the fact that it’s a very gay-​friendly establishment and that is certainly a good thing, but Dr. Watkins also made this straight woman a very happy patient. As a new patient it was a little hard to get in right away, but I can definitely see why. Dr. Watkins is kind, friendly, and very cool.
Did I mention that I mostly hate doctors? Well, I do. They tend to be pompous and often don’t want to spend more than 2 minutes listening to the patients — I usually leave with the impression that they care more about billing as many people as they can per hour than they care whether or not I die. Dr. Watkins and his PA both made me feel like my health was important to them. They basically acted like doctors should act, which is unfortunately exceedingly rare these days.
I am so grateful for the other great reviews on Unilocal that led me to Triangle Medical. I highly recommend Triangle Medical.

If you’re a gay man looking for a caring, interested, and informed, current physician, definitely look into Triangle Medical.
Dr. Watkins has years of experience dealing with the unique issues that gay men face, whether it’s STD/​STI treatment, HIV/​AIDS research and treatment, emotional health, traditional PCP stuff, and more. It’s incredibly comfortable having an openly gay doctor to discuss issues with, and he’s friendly, funny, and polite.
One of the downsides to this particular practice, however, is that one of the great things about it is also a checkmark: the fact that the practice is so small, as a patient you’ll get extraordinary attention. One the other hand, it is, at times, difficult to be seen within a day or two, though I have not had trouble with pressing emergencies (like a high fever; I was always seen same day!)

John Delrossi and Mark Watkins have to be some of the most friendly doctors in Philadelphia. I highly recommend them. They listen to your needs and are very concerned with you health and well being. Both of them are very professional and have and excellent bedside manor.
