First, let me say I haven’t tried any of their ice cream or ices. This is because I was in the mood for soft serve and couldn’t get any because they were cleaning their soft serve machines. Really? At 1:30 on a hot Sunday, machines should be ready to go. The man at the counter then informs us in a matter-of-fact tone that it is a state or federal law(I foget which he said). Well, let’s hope so but this is something that should be done during prep work when you are not serving the customers. I mean no one would go to an Italian restaurant that couldn’t serve you lasagna because the ovens are being cleaned. You are selling a product. The product should be ready serve when business is open.

Tried this for the first time last night. there was a line, so figured they had to be doing something right. The guy would managers/owns? this place is incredible. You can’t help but smile when speaking to him, i’d make that drive again just to give him repeat business. I had black raspberry ice cream with sprinkles. it was AMAZING.

Updating my review from 4 to 5 stars! Originally when I visited this place I had the water ice, which was good(hence the four stars). Went back yesterday with a major craving for ice cream and ordered a medium strawberry /buttery pecan in a sugar cone(in a cup). The medium was the largest medium portion ever — and at the price tag of $ 3.25 — I felt as if I had stolen something. The butter pecan was amazingly rich and ranks right up there with my all time favorite(franklin fountain) … But with double the portion size and half the price — this just might be my new favorite spot for ice cream! I also must say that the owner is amazing! I remember him being very friendly during my first visit. However, yesterday I witnessed a tremendously kind act towards a family who wasn’t sure if they had enough $$ for their order. Long story short, more people should be like the owner of this ice cream spot! Not only did his ice cream win me over, but his amazingly generous and winning attitude will definitely make me a repeat customer!

Defiantly a great place to go for your ice cream and water ice craving. They have food items like nacho cheese, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. If the had funnel cakes I’d ending up living there. That would be the perfect add on. Overall, just a great classic ice cream shop.

How does this place only have two reviews! I admit the trolley aspect might give the impression of a tourist trap but it’s well worth the stop. The only downside is the wide selection of Nelson’s ice creams which can make choosing between flavors difficult. My girlfriend tried the Grand Slam which was one of the most flavorful ice creams either of us has ever tried. With its steady mix of crushed graham cracker and chocolate it was almost a meal in itself. The cinnamon caramel twist was exceptional as well. They also have great portions for the prices and ample outdoor seating is located in the back.

Definitely a good selection of ice cream for a great price… and really tasty! FYI… they also have soft pretzels and hot dogs if you’re craving something salty!

Great place to grab some ice cream or Italian ice on a hot spring or summer day. They are also open late which helps satisfy those evening cravings. Ice cream is Nelson’s, which is sooo good. The manager is super friendly but can be pretty sarcastic so don’t take him too seriously. My ice cream shop of choice in the Chestnut Hill. Love it here!
