US Post Office

Quite possibly the worst post office in the entire US. they never open on time, they’re rude, they never leave a slip for an item, they lose items, and they close early.

Easily the worst post office. We have had problems with 100% of our deliveries from this location — «attempted» deliveries when we were plainly home, rescheduled deliveries never show up, they can’t find things once we go in person, and to make matters worse the customer service is just plain awful. Would give 0 stars if I could.

As you’re experiencing the horror of the 7^th street post office, it’s easy to understand all those post office shooting rampages a few years back. Each time is astoundingly awful in new and horrible ways. A few possibilities: wait in line (behind just 5 people) for over an hour, wait over 20 minutes for any clerk to come out from the back to help anyone, stand in line next to a man in a robe and hole-​riddled underwear, get screamed at more than once per visit by a «customer service» rep for such atrocities as picking up the bulletproof glass screen before she commands you to or suggesting that she gather multiple package slips at once instead of waddling and huffing and puffing to the back with each one separately. Every. single. person there is picking up a package (or buying a single stamp, which is a whole other story) so have a designated person to get those packages all at once!!! I’ve seen it done at other post offices!!! It will not cause a fight because people think I’m getting special treatment! We will all rejoice because we’re all there for our packages you are hoarding in the «back,» which must be in New Jersey since it takes so long to come back from there.
The one glimmer of hope is the man they have working there sort of regularly. He is polite and efficient. I won’t go in anymore unless he’s there, which helps with the rage but is certainly not convenient.
While you’re waiting in anger, at least you can check out the New Deal WPA art on the north wall!

My package has been sitting there 2 weeks and no one wants to deliver it.
Phone rings 18 minutes before someone picks up:
Me: Hi do you deliver packages?
Guy: Yes we’re the post office.
Me: Ok because I have a package that’s been there for two weeks, any plans to deliver it?
Guy: What’s the tracking number?
Me: We don’t need it tracked. We know where it is. You’re sitting on it. It was scanned into your location, I can see that online.
Guy: Well we cant do anything without the tracking number.
Me: You can deliver it.
Guy: Not without the tracking number.
Me: If I give you the tracking number you will just get your little revenge and return the package or destroy it or hang onto it forever.
Guy: Why would we do that?
Me: Because people who don’t want to do their job get mad at people who remind them to work.
Guy: Well I can’t do anything without the tracking number.
Me: You can always take all the packages that have been there for over a week and put them on a truck and deliver them, like a post office.
*guy hangs up

Worst service ever. Playing the cat and mouse game with my mail. Wasted hours of my time. Yuck.

They actually started treating me like a human after I rented a PO box… because my regular mail delivery wasn’t going through…
Prior to that, I’d’ve fully agreed with the other reviews. And you shouldn’t have to rent a box to get some reasonable treatment.

This is far and away the worst post office I have ever been to. Twice now I have been sent packages that specifically say «Carrier: leave if no response». Seeing as the carrier has keys to my apartment building, you would think this wouldn’t be a problem. However, both times the tracking info stated that «delivery was attempted, no authorized recipient present, notice left». Seeing as no notice was left, I’m led to believe that delivery was never attempted. Subsequent re-​delivery requests were ignored (re-​delivery was hard to schedule as I didn’t have the notice with the authorization number!). Calling or e-​mailing to complain does nothing. Overall, just terrible service.

I have lived here 20 years and this post office has never been great. Lately, however, they are bordering on criminal. I agree with the previous poster: I will watch tracking info and wait at home when it says «out for delivery». No one ever attempts delivery, yet the tracking info is marked «notice left, attempted delivery». No notice is left. Recently a semi valuable package disappeared into thin air. No one can find it, hmmm. I have complained to the USPS website, please let me know if there is any further.

Must agree with the rest of these reviews — literally the worst post office I’ve ever been in, to the point where I wonder if what they’re doing is legal. They will lie and say they attempted to deliver, even though no slip was left and we were basically sitting next to the door at the time they claim to have tried. They ignore scheduled redeliveries. They will send you to their office to pick up your parcel, have you wait in that ridiculous line (make sure you have an hour to spare), and then tell you that your package isn’t there, it’s out on the truck so your carrier can pretend to try to deliver it again.
The worst is anything sent through UPS Mail Innovations or FedEx’s equivalent. They will report that they attempted to deliver and the customer wasn’t available; when I called to find out what was going on, the rude attendant told me they «suspended service» on those days. When I asked why they would lie about trying to deliver my parcel on FedEx’s tracking site, I was told «We had no other choice.» I’m sorry, WHAT? Your other choice would be to not log an attempted delivery when there wasn’t one.
If you have literally any other alternative to using this post office, take it.

Absolutely the worst. Horrible and rude customer service. Slow-​moving, long line ALWAYS with one person behind the counter. Overall a horrible ghetto experience – some of the shittiest of what Philadelphia has to offer.

I’m considering moving just so I don’t have to deal with this post office ever again. I now have packages sent to my parents’ house, because I would rather drive an hour to pick up a parcel than enter this hellhole.

Can I get a nice and or helpful employee? Apparently not. Got snapped at when I didn’t come with a piece of mail to my new address. The package that I was trying to pick up here was time sensitive and the people that worked here couldn’t have cared less.
Needless to say, I now get any packages sent to my work in case I’m not home and they get sent to this place.

If you live in Northern Liberties, make sure you never get parcels delivered by USPS. They have lost packages — and they do NOT honor redelivery requests. It has happened to me at least multiple times. If you need postal service, utilize the private mail companies in Northern Liberties — and do yourself a favor by getting a PO Box.

Going to the post office is never a fun experience. This one takes the cake though. First, it’s in the middle of a neighborhood you need a bodyguard in. Second, every single employee at the window has an attitude. And they all move slow as molasses, mosey-​ing around behind the counter like they’ve got all day. This nightmare of a post office is every government worker stereotype come true.
