US Post Office

The Saturday mailman that delivers the packages doesn’t even attempt to deliver them. Last Saturday I was waiting on a package I needed before leaving for a trip on Monday. I left a huge note on my door stating to leave the package. Came home from work at 6pm and no package. I checked the tracking and it said undeliverable but there wasn’t even a pick up slip! He leaves the packages outside of the BP while he goes in to buy scratch offs, seen that multiple times. They didn’t deliver our mail one time for days and when I called they said we just didn’t get to you. I could throw something and hit that post office that’s how close I am! I went in one time to get a package and the woman disappeared. After 15min someone else came out and asked if I was being helped. I said yes but she’s been gone a long time. She said oh she’s on break. Seriously??? What is wrong with these people???

I use this place twice a week, every week. The women behind the counter are great, they must have changed from all of these old reviews — I don’t know why everyone’s always so down on this place. All of my packages and letters have gotten to where they’re going, and I always get my mail. Hell of a lot better than my old post office in the ‘burbs.

Disgrace! This place is a joke. Constantly delivering packages to the wrong address-​at least 3 times I can remember. Rude when you try to get them to locate the package they lost. Just file a claim they tell me…

This place really is terrible. You leave there without any faith that your lovingly prepared package will get to it’s destination. Who knows? They might be throwing the packages into the river. The staff sit behind bulletproof glass and provide endless ‘tude. They are just mean. The guys who do my local delivery are ok but Lord help you if you have to pick up a package that didn’t fit in your mailbox. I’m usually a fan of the post office but this place seriously needs to be overhauled or shut down.

I’d give this post office a negative 3 if I could.
I’ve lived in this neighborhood for about 40 years. Delivery to our home was never a problem until about 4 months ago when we began seeing mis-​deliveries. The problem grew to the point about two months ago when we would get 3 – 4 pieces of mail for other addresses three or four days a week. Some of them were for another zip code. Most were for addresses on our street on different blocks or several doors away. I always re-​delivered to the proper address or sent it back to the post office if it was too far away. My wife operates a business where clients often send payment by mail on a regularly scheduled basis. Two check in one week were not delivered and never did show up. Her clients had to stop payment on those checks and reissue them. Last week I expected an important letter by certified mail. I verified the sender got the certification of delivery returned to her, but the letter never was delivered to my home. We have seen many weeks in the past 4 months with up to 3 days with no delivery to anyone of the three people adults at this address, many bills that never were delivered… I could go on and on. Many of my neighbors have similar problems.
Whatever happened to the days when you had to be literate to work for the post office?
I’m calling my senator and representative to see if some congressional interest might jolt this abysmal post office back into some semblance of decent customer service.

If I could give this office 0 starts, I would. I went in to send my priority mail and there were two older women working behind the counter and 1 customer behind me. Tracy was available and I walked up to the counter. I was writing the last letter of the address down on the envelope and she immediately told me, «NO you are going to the back of the line,» with attitude. I then left and called the office, hoping to speak with her supervisor. However, Tracy answered the phone. I asked for a supervisor and she preceded to yell and scream at me that I was in the wrong… and she even hung up on me! How can an employee speak (or shall I say yell) at a CUSTOMER!!! This is completely and utterly unacceptable. I am extremely offended. This is also not the first encounter that I have had with Tracy where she has given me attitude, as I come to this office weekly to send packages for work. Every time that I have been to this office she has been incredibly rude and ignorant to me. Because of this incident I am never stepping foot back in this office again, and am taking my business to UPS. All of these negative reviews are true… avoid this office at all costs.

got off the phone for service. From the moment we started talking this lady seemed to be in a hurry to get off the phone while trying to maintain as if she gave half a fuck. did not get anywhere speaking to the person.
I regret calling in the first place, and a waste of time. East Falls really needs to take its garbage out.

I would rather have hot metal daggers driven into my eyeballs and be forced to listen to 10,000 screaming babies than have to step foot in here again. This is our neighborhood post office and we will do anything it takes to avoid this location even though it’s three minutes from our house. Read every negative review… they’re all true.

No parking, dirty place, bulletproof glass, rude staff… this place should be shut down.
This post office location is a shining example of why the government shouldn’t be running a business. The only reason I went there is because I live so close. I’m now shipping packages from the website option or going elsewhere.
On my last visit, I brought a manilla envelope with staples on the end. The USPS worker told me that they couldn’t ship it because the staples may cut a carrier’s hands. I asked what I should do and she suggested that I use their USPS tape to tape up the package after removing the staples.
I removed the staples and taped up the package. The USPS worker said the postage would be $ 6.75 instead of the original $ 3.05. I asked why and she told me it’s because of the USPS priority tape that I put on it! ha Nice up-​sell technique.
I grabbed my package, walked home, removed the USPS tape, applied my own clear tape and walked back over to the post office.
After the USPS worker finished her cell phone call, I was able to get the package shipped.
Now I know why they work from behind bulletproof glass.

It’s in a convenient location for me since I’m within walking distance, but if you’re in a car, don’t expect to find any parking spaces. Service seems to be hit or miss. I got lucky and had a reasonably nice person help me out, but I also saw a few people get yelled at by the other woman at the counter.
Plus, what’s up with the super thick wall of bulletproof panelling across all the service windows?! O_​o

Exhibit A — Philadelphia East Falls United States Post Office
This place has the meanest staff. They will yell at you for NO REASON! To avoid being yelled at, keep your sentences short. When they ask you a question, reply only with «yes», «no», or «I don’t know». Do not ask questions, unless you enjoy verbal abuse.
Me: «Hello, how are you today, ma’am. I would like this to be shipped the cheapest way possible».
Lady at the counter: «A:LKFJ:LAJ:FJ:LJERLJ:LW:HSLS:LDJF:LJ:LFDJ:LSAJ~!!!ADKJF:LFKJ:LJSALFJ!!!@^%(*&@%^(#@%^!!!»
Me (thinking to myself): «I’m so sorry, please don’t eat me».
I’m really stingy, but I’m considering paying the extra money at UPS. This branch should consider firing these workers and replacing them with new ones. But that wouldn’t work because it would result in a wrongful termination lawsuit, and cost USPS another million dollars. Or maybe they could teach some of these workers customer service skills. But that wouldn’t work because it requires these workers to put in work and effort.
Sigh…

My 30+ visits to this sideshow have been nothing short of horrible. The rudest ladies I’ve come across in Philly work here. Yikes. They make up rules I’ve never heard of (in my 30 years of using the postal service), they’re misinformed, and have terrible customer service. I’ve been told to wait while they finish cell phone calls, and on more than one occasion I’ve seen/​heard nasty verbal fights between employees and customers.
One employee (Kim?) told my boyfriend he couldn’t ship a package to Saudi Arabia because there is a war going on (what??). He tried to set the record straight but trying to undo mass ignorance through a bullet proof window with a line behind you is really difficult. Also, my mail carrier never leaves package notices and I have to play a guessing game if they’re being held captive at the post office or not. I’ve been there three times this month to collect phantom packages that are «left at post office» but in fact have disappeared in the back room and I have to try back everyday to plead with Kim to look harder. WHAT A NIGHTMARE.
I wish this location wasn’t so convenient…

Not friendly staff, street parking, all and all — not a good place to be.

So I have been here twice. The first time was to buy stamps and the second time was to send a priority mail envelope. I never had any issues at the register. On my second trip I had to wait in a small line when they failed to open promptly at 8:30am. They unlocked the door at 8:34am. In hindsight its not a big deal but I like to give through reviews. I do like that I can walk there very easily.
Ps. If you are turned off by 2 inch bullet proof glass, then you won’t like the massive barrier at the register.

Moved labor day weekend 2011. (Moved from one Philly neighborhood to another only 4 mi away. Put in my change of mailing address (both me and my boyfriend did it) at the end of August. We got forwarded mail (with the yellow sticker) for about a month or two.
The East Falls post office hasn’t forwarded one thing since mid September. I missed getting a $ 127 Septa trailpass (so I had to pay for it twice), among other things.
Called the national USPS customer service to lodge a complaint. They said they had to check with the local carrier because that’s who’s responsible for the mailing address changes. I never heard a thing.
I did not have this problem when I moved into Philly from out of state in 2007.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 12 years now.
For about a year I worked from home selling on eBay and had to make almost daily trips to the Post Office. I discovered at that time that the East Falls Post Office is the absolute WORST service ever.
They would try to charge me for things I had already paid for, say that I underpaid when in fact I over paid, they have yelled at me, hurled racial epithets at me and finally I gave up and started going to Roxborough.
But now I work for a company in the Falls and we have to take packages to the PO and we use the East Falls branch.
It is the same now as it was then, absolutely horrible.
It’s as if they’re doing us a favor or something.
We have a machine calibrated monthly that weighs our packages and prints the postage. We take them down for mailing and we get the same old run around every day.
«You can’t just leave those, I need to weigh them all.»
«But they’re already paid.»
«I don’t care, I have to weigh them.»
«Okay, weigh them.»
«Not until I take care of the rest of these people.»
«But I was here first?»
«I’m not making them wait.»
«Okay, I’ll wait.»
45 minutes later.
«I’m sorry sir, it’s 5 o’clock, I can’t take these.»
«It’s only 4:45?»
«I know, but I won’t be able to weigh them all by 5 o’clock.»
I mean, WTF!!!
I’ve called, I’ve talked to managers, post masters, I’ve written letters, what does it take to get these people to DO THEIR JOBS?
Aren’t I the customer?
Don’t I deserve a little respect?
When I started here we went to them and asked, «What can we do to make this easier on you?»
They explained the way to do things (their way) and we’ve adhered to that process completely and they still don’t accept our stuff.
Yesterday the «woman» threw my entire box of packages on the floor, violently threw it.
I didn’t say anything because there was nothing fragile in there, but the disrespect was evident.
I think the worst part for me is that I know, if I made that big of a ruckus in the post office they’d call the police and have me arrested, but it’s perfectly okay for them to treat me like that.
