Nothing out of the ordinary here. They have plenty of selections and it’s the closest one to me in walking distance. I go here because its convenient not because of the prices. It’s center city prices for sure. The cashier however did NOT ask for my ID. I must say this broke my heart since I’m 28, but i look like i’m 18.(this is a fact ok! I don’t make this up!) This broke my heart a little not gonna lie… but on a serious note it got me thinking are they not checking anyone’s??? Should someone be looking into that? hmmmmm

I really enjoy the personality of this store. My go to sake is always in the same location, they offer a great amount of wine, and its employees go over the top when it comes to service. I would like to say thank you to the gentleman who told me where I could find the 50 cent bottle signing event, which intrigued me. He was casual and had a friendly disposition. While outside the store I dropped my bottle, only to have Caitlyn come out, and offer to give me a brand new bottle. Places that pay this much attention to detail are not only managed well, but have a special feel to them. This Wine and Spirits encompasses what the City of Brotherly love is meant to represent.

This is favorite Wine & Spirits Shoppe in the city. The wines are well stocked and nicely organized. And I’ve also had good luck of stopping by when they’re having a wine tasting. The staff is very helpful in answering an questions you may have. And Max is a sommelier that has always suggested the right wine to bring to a BYOB.

I think Pennsylvania’s draconian liquor laws have an unfortunate side effect in that liquor stores tend to verge on the frightening. This one is the second scariest I have been to, but its selection is also one of the best, and it happens to be the most convenient for me on most occasions, and we all know how I feel about proximity… I’ve recently decided to stop hating on BYOs, since I read somewhere Philly may just be the BYO capital of these United States. That was probably not a verified/verifiable fact, but it was enough to make me make more of an effort to go to BYOB restaurants. So, um, I need wine. I would probably rank the 20th and Market location as the nicest one I’ve been to, then South and 6th? 7th? followed by this one in 3rd place. This location likely houses a better selection of wine than the other two, but it has more drawbacks: 1) Whenever i have gone alone,(which I’ve only done so in broad daylight) I’ve never escaped harassment at the doors. I mean, like, right where the door to enter the place is. You would think that’s something they can address. 2) I’ve never been offered help. I’ve sought help and received anything from a thoughtful and warm response to probably falsehoods to straight up «I’m working but I’m wearing my ear buds so I can’t hear you and I won’t respond». Service is frustratingly inconsistent. 3) You know how they’re not supposed to sell alcohol to someone who looks obviously inebriated? I don’t think the employees know this. Alternatively, some of their clientele are so scary, they would rather just sell the booze instead of disagreeing with said scary clientele. Either way, this place definitely makes my top five of ‘most fearful for my life while standing in a queue’ I’ve ever been. 4) It’s dinky inside. Don’t get me wrong, for a collector’s item, I love a good dinky store. If this were a books or trinkets shop, I would be noodling through the aisles meticulously and with glee. But they sell booze, and they have scary patrons, and indifferent, ineffective looking staff including security. So I never feel like, just, browsing. I wish that would change, since they do have a seemingly impressive collection. Oh well. Would I come back if there was another convenient location with a comparable selection but is also brighter, cleaner, less plagued by visibly intoxicated patrons and more competently staffed? Noooo. Do I stop in with some frequency even notwithstanding these aggravations? You betcha.

Normal liquor store aside from the fact that they have an incredible amount of wine in the back of the store… and that they have this funny fellow with glasses that seems to always be there when I am looking for wine and gives me incredible tips and deals and steals on wine to try! If you are in there looking for wine definitely let him assist you if he offers(or probably even if he does not).

I’m actually surprised at all the bad reviews because I’ve always had friendly service here. A lot of the employees have even helped me pick things out and the cashiers are always nice. A good selection as compared to some of the other smaller wine & spirits. Definitely gets busy though.

I have to agree with Nikki L. The service is terrible. While there on Sunday the people working the registers spent their time complaining about their bosses. That is something that would not fly in a private liquor store. Although the selection is better than most State stores, it still is not as good a private store like Total Wine, Wine Legend or specialty wine stores. I am hoping House Bill 790 passes and passes soon.

Horrendous service. Cashier, Courtney was incredibly rude shouting at customers to that his line was closing. Then when he went to check me out and I had a problem with my card and I was trying to look for another one to use said«miss what are you doing, let’s go” — again rushing me I told him that I was getting another card to pay for the item he continous to rush and said I gotta go– i then told him his schedule is not my problem he doesn’t like his hours to take it up to his scheduling manager because as a paying customer if you are on the floor I assume you are there to work. He then says-speaking to no one, Man I swear sometimes I’m about to go off on people» I looked at him and said«excuse me? What did you say? Go head, you want to go off at me? Go ahead. Matter of fact let me get your name Courtney I’ll speak to corporate.»… little did he know I was hired as a secret shopper. They are completely unprofessional.

It’s a State Store so it’s grand! This is like the super market of State Stores in Center City. It’s huge! They have a crazy selection of wine and liquor. It’s also one of the special ones with Sunday hours! This is the State Store I go to when I forget to get something on Holidays and they always handle the CRUSH of people really well. I remember being queued up all the way in the back of the store on New Year’s Eve and being to the front of the queue in like 10 minutes when it seemed like I’d be there all day.
