History

Established in 1968.

This store was originally a satellite location for Zipf’s Candies out of Reading, PA and for years we exclusively stocked and sold their chocolates. About twenty years ago the original chocolate factory in Reading stopped making chocolates and closed up shop. After it’s closure we decided to keep the name at the Chestnut hill location since it was a cornerstone business and recognizable in the community. We continued with a new vision for sourcing our chocolates and candy. Now in business for forty five years, the current owner is a chocolate maker and makes many of her own creations, we also source much of our chocolate from Lore’s Chocolate in Philadelphia, as well as, a few selections from Asher’s and Gertrude Hawk. The rest of our candy is primarily sourced within the tri-​state area with the exceptions from our imported lines from Europe and Australia. We have a rich and interesting history and invite you to join us to keep it’s legacy going.

When I first began working for Zipf’s I had the unique pleasure of working alongside the former owner Murial for several years before she officially retired. I learned much of what I know about the candy business from her. I have grown to love this little store and the families who rely on it being here year after year.
