We rented the Hilltop accommodations for our family and friends for our wedding at the Boonville Hotel, and could not have been more pleased with the quality, location, and value. As other reviewers have said, this is a true jewel. New furniture and appliances, quality towels and linens, and well-maintained top to bottom. Each room has its own individual bathroom, and they even provided toiletries. Travis and Dan did a fantastic job of making sure our family and friends were well-cared for and had everything they needed for a comfortable stay. They are even in the process of putting in a bocce-ball court for future use, so we’ll definitely be back. Thanks again!

CHEAP. Not in cost, but in décor, etc. One might expect a 5-br/5-ba log cabin to ooze charm, but this does not. Our room had stained carpets, and the common areas were cheap 12×12 tile with old stained grout. The bed sheets, curtains, towels, etc. all cheap cheap cheap chintzy. Plastic tub surround. The primary reason that I’m writing this review is to warn of the mold for those who are allergic. We stayed two nights recently in the Alpenrose room($ 135/night), and there is an odor of mold that my allergies/illness both nights proved to corroborate. In addition to the mold and stained carpeting, the room is very dusty. There were cobwebs all over and behind the bed(all along the back of the headboard) were vertical strings of dust bunnies. Hard to reach, but that’s what vac attachments are for, which you can afford when you’re charging $ 135/night. On the upside the kitchen was well equipped and easy to use and relatively clean. The owner was responsive and friendly when I called to ask whether there was wi-fi(there isn’t!) and to let him know his automatic sprinklers were on sprinkling people, weeds, dirt patches, and concrete. Unless that was necessary for fire prevention(I don’t think so) then technically this was illegal in our horrible worst-ever drought. If you’re allergic to mold/mildew/dust do NOT stay in Alpenrose!

Stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. Wedding guests had booked virtually every available room in town(Philo has a population of roughly 300), so I felt lucky to get a single room in the Log Cabin at the Indian Creek Inn. It’s definitely not a five-star resort, with very few amenities, but the rooms are clean. There is no TV, and very spotty internet connectivity(at least for Verizon). I believe that each room has its own bathroom, but most of the bathrooms are located next door to the bedroom, with no connecting door. All in all, it was a very good deal for $ 135/night, especially in light of the rates that other guests paid at The Madrones or the other Indian Creek Inn buildings. Follow-up to Kelly M’s review of 11/12/2012: Provided toiletries include bar soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. Still no food, but the full kitchen included a coffee maker, coffee in the refrigerator(may have been leftover by a prior guest) and coffee filters.

This place was fantastic, as Kelly M. said, a real diamond in the rough and also a great value. Last July I did an overnight in AV with the bf, the bff, and the bff’s bf(got that?). I spent close to a month trying to find a place that would take us for only one night since most places in AV require that you stay for at least 2 nights on weekends during the«busy season.» Thankfully that turned out to be a blessing in disguise since it led us here. After a good day of wine tasting(make sure to check out Toulouse if you go!) we headed to Indian Creek Inn around 5pm. I had to call Travis since we had some trouble figuring out where the drive way was(literally right at the end of Golden Eye’s vineyards) but he straightened us out and met us as we pulled up in our car. He offered us a tour of the grounds which are actually really beautiful, we walked down to the creek that’s below the inn and Travis gave us a bit of history. The inn used to be a boy’s reform school, and you can kind of tell from the layout(though not from the feel of the place, don’t worry, it doesn’t feel like a reform school). There’s a kitchen in the middle and two wings with the rooms that branch off from it. Our evening there was awesome, we opened a bottle(or maybe 2 or 3 bottles…) that we’d bought that day, grilled some steaks and chicken that we brought with us, and hung out around the fire pit which Travis had shown us. I think we got lucky, we had the whole place to ourselves for the night since the other guests were attending a wedding. This place definitely isn’t fancy, but it’s got great character and what more could you want besides a grill and a fire pit to hang out around with your friends and a glass of local wine?

A diamond in the rough! A little difficult to find once it gets dark, but literally right in between the end of the Goldeneye fence and The Madrones… up the driveway, through a gate, and down and around a few country road bends. The accomodations were very comfortable and heaters were already running in both rooms(we had a suite). The good: Great price! $ 140 for two rooms(queen in one for us and a twin in the other for our son). Beautiful grounds, very«cabin in the woods» feel complete with wood stove. Full kitchen and plenty of tables/chairs for meals. The bad(not actually bad, just things to know): If you do get a suite, the bathroom is in the room with the twin bed. So if you need to go in the middle of the night, you might wake up your kid. The shower is a stall… not bad, just not a bathtub and it is very small. They do provide some toiletries, but no hair conditioner(again, not a big deal, just something to know if you have long hair and usually count on this). Also, they told us beforehand, but there really is no food except for some seasonings in the kitchen. I would recommend that the owners invest in some kind of coffee option at the very least — maybe a Keurig or something? You even have to bring coffee filters. Overall — great find! We’ll definitely be back :)
