Understanding that catering is more than just food, the goal of Amici Catering is to provide menus that are made with locally sourced, fresh quality ingredients, that taste delicious, and are hassle-​free.

History

Established in 2007.

Founded in 2007, Amici Catering is a joint venture from established and well respected restaurateurs, Scott and Lori Harlig. The owners have over 30 years in the hospitality industry, working with prestigious companies such as Chicago-​based Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises: Ed Debevics/​Tucchetti/​Don & Charlie’s; Restaurants Unlimited; and the Five Diamond Boulders Resort

The team’s newest venture concentrates their experience on providing social and corporate event clients with delicious food and great customer service.

Business Owner

Scott Harlig brings 27 years experience to the company. He is a third generation restaurateur, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Restaurant Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. The past nineteen years have provided operational experience with Chicago-​based Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, which includes thirteen years as managing partner & owner of Tucchetti Restaurant

Lori Harlig has 27 years of experience in the restaurant industry, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Restaurant Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. With over twenty years in management, her restaurant and catering experiences include premier venues such as Palisades, Seattle WA; The Boulders Resort, Scottsdale, AZ; And Velvet Turtle dinner houses, Southern CA. She now brings her strong background in event planning and catering to amici catering.

This review is LOOOONG overdue. My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Lori and her team for my wedding in Chandler in October. We had to plan the wedding from out of town and were only able to meet with Lori twice before our event. Lori catered to our schedule when we were in town prior to the event and made sure she was available for a tasting and to review all our other options.
She is clearly experienced in event planning and made us feel at ease with her knowledge of all the details that needed to be discussed. Lori’s communication and response time was excellent and I always felt like we were on the same page. She was able to offer many suggestions and was willing to work with our budget while still providing DELICIOUS food and service.
A few days before the event, Lori even came out to our venue (which was at a friend’s house) to ensure we had all of our bases covered. I would certainly recommend Amici Catering to anyone, as you would be getting a talented, professional, and caring team who also delivers amazing cuisine. Thank you, Lori, and all of Amici catering.

LOVE!!! I can’t even begin to describe my appreciation for amici catering. We just got married last weekend and we worked with Lori to plan our wedding. She is so awesome and helped me with literally EVERYTHING. I am still being told how amazing our wedding food was. I wish they had a restaurant so I could try everything again. Even my friend who caters back home said that she has never been so impressed by another caterer. This may not matter to everyone but I was so impressed by their dedication to composting being a green company. They also took into consideration allergies and alternative diets and offered us options we would not have considered on our own. Lori is so much more than a caterer but she is an AMAZING caterer none the less. The staff was so awesome too! My mom and friend keep saying how great they were too. This is a group of amazing people serving amazing food. I highly recommend them for absolutely any event you are planning. THANK YOU AMICI!!!

I used Amici’s catering for our daughter’s Celebration of Life event; the staff at Amici’s made a very difficult time much easier for us. They were extremely helpful from the minute I called Lori, who helped me pick out a beautiful menu while keeping mindful of the cost. She was very experienced and gave me helpful recommendations, even told me when I was ordering too much food; she was very insightful and kind.
The servers Scott and Holly delivered and set up the food, served and cleaned up; they were very professional and respectful. Actually, they were more than that; they were very attuned to our event and were compassionate as well as flexible and accommodating. The food was amazing; everyone loved it, from the stuffed mushrooms, homemade meatballs, salad, lasagna, chicken piccata, chicken parm to the tiramisu. Everything was the perfect temperature.
The staff took care of everything so seamlessly that I felt that we didn’t have to think about anything but honoring our daughter. If I could give Amici’s more than five stars, I would. I would use them again in a heartbeat and have already recommended them to my friends.

Ok I hardly ever review but I wanted to take the time to tell you busy people out there how nice it is to hire a company who is professional and knowledgeable. The food was great. I was really skeptical on the goat cheese fig quesadilla (weird I know) it was great. The sauces are amazing. You may not know this but they had a Phoenix restaurant for years then closed it and went into catering. What I loved most, Lori’s input :) she really jumps in to give her opinion so you can balance everything out. Strong company husband and wife with great personalities and a strong work ethic. Thank you for a lovely party

After submitting an online request for an event I needed to have catered, Lori contacted me within the hour asking when a convenient time to talk. I explained my needs and sent over a little write-​up of a menu and a budget, and she took it from there.
Lori and Scott offered suggestions and worked amazingly with my budget for a group of clients I had in Phoenix. Even through the holidays, they kept in contact with me, responding promptly to any questions or concerns I sent their way. Sometimes when I use a caterer in different states, I become skeptical as I have been put in some pretty sticky situations the day my food should be delivered, but I had confidence and felt trusting with Amici from the start.
I appreciated that they stayed in close communication at all times, not hesitating or assuming when they had a question about how I wanted/​needed things done. Their suggestions were open-​ended and I didn’t ever feel pressured to alter my plan or make last minute decisions. Not to mention I hear their food was amazing.
My main concern is that my client is taken care of and well-​fed. Amici’s main concern was that my client was taken care of and well-​fed, and they did exactly that. I can’t thank Amici enough for making this event such a breeze. HIGHLY recommended.

I am so happy I found Amici Catering through Unilocal!I recently used their catering services for a corporate breakfast in December 2014. From the start, Lori was so easy to work with and very accommodating. This was my first corporate catering event and she really helped me and provided some great advice!
The event was for 50 people. I chose an assortment of croissant sandwiches, breakfast burritos, potatoes, and fresh fruit salad. The food was delicious! Everyone loved it! The delivery and set up was quick and easy and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
I will definitely use their services again for any future catering needs.

These guys are fantastic! Just had Amici cater a wine tasting and dinner party for 25 guests and could not have been happier with the food and service. Lori gave us great advice on the menu, previewed the room to give us pointers on flow, showed up ontime, and setup a beautiful buffet presentation. The food was so delicious. Throughout the evening she and her assistant Whitney were what I can only call «invisibly present»… there when they were needed and discreetly out of the way when they were not. They even rinsed and set aside over 100 wine glasses (which we had provided ourselves — not part of their contract.) Lots of compliments from our guests on the food throughout the evening. Great food, excellent customer service, reasonable price, utmost professionalism. Highly recommended.

I used Amici when planning a last minute wedding reception for my brother. I had two weeks to plan a back yard reception from another state. I spoke with Lori who was incredibly helpful and accommodating. She helped me set the menu and went out of her way to accommodate my crazy schedule. She will work well to suite your budget and still get you the most bang for your money. Amici even created a unique appetizer that featured the bride & groom’s favorite foods. The staff who came to the reception were friendly, flexible, & professional. The food was absolutely delicious, every single guest was satisfied. The goat cheese and fig quesadillas were crazy good! Synopsis: Food is incredible, guests stated, «Best wedding food we’ve ever had,» attentive staff, affordable
Amici catered our wedding on October 4, 2013, and they were beyond amazing. We searched for caterers for a long time. Coming from a family with a chef, and those that have worked in the business, we had high expectations. Not to mention we were paying for everything on our own, and so affordability was key. Amici has an amazing staff, the food is incredible, and they are organized and professional — everything you could ever want out of a caterer. Lori is one in a million. She was extremely receptive and responsive with all of my questions and brought to my attention many small details I might have overlooked (like having food for vendors). She sent me an email each time she received a payment with the on going total. During the wedding, the staff brought the bridal party food and drinks during pictures. They were very friendly and attentive. Everyone raved about the food (we had the Guadalajara style fajitas, street tacos, cilantro rice, and smoky black beans). I can’t tell you how many times someone said, «This is the best wedding food we’ve ever had.» I just honestly cannot think of enough great things to say. I would recommend them a million times over!

I spoke with both Lori and the owner of the bartending company. Both were extremely apologetic about the mix-​up with the timing and that speaks volumes about the integrity of both businesses.
If the bartender leaving an hour earlier than expected was the worst thing that happened before, during, and after this party, I’d say we did alright. ;)

First of all, Lori was a pleasure to work with. My husband invited an extra 50 people to our baby shower, so we had to spring for the food, which was an added stress. Lori really helped out me at ease. She helped me decide on the menu, and work around our budget. The day of our event, Lori and her team even helped set up the yard and helped us set up our bar, and drink stations (which we had not purchased from them). The food was amazing, and we got tons of compliments. Our menu consisted of eggplant and chicken parm sliders, chopped salad in a pasta shell, pasta squares topped with mini meatballs, stuffed mushrooms and bruschetta. I will definetly be using them again in the future.

If you have any sort of corporate or work catering, these are the guys you need to use! We have used them several times in the past month and not only are they friendly, accurate and affordable, their food is AWESOME. I’m always hesitant to try out new catering but they came recommended and everyone kept asking me where we ordered the food from because it was so delicious — that has NEVER happened before! I can’t say enough to recommend them and hope you give them at least one try — that’s all you’ll need to be as hooked as we are. And they have enough variety that we use them for breakfast & lunch back to back days. Definitely a 5-​star!

I use Amici Catering for work functions, they never disappoint!
Either Lori, Scott or the chef will bring the food and set up. On the ride up the elevator one day, I was chit chatting with them and discovered that they used to own Tuchetti’s! I freaking loved Tuchetti’s and I never understood why they closed. Seriously, when I worked in the Biltmore area I remember going there for lunch at like 11:00 a.m. because I couldn’t wait!
Anyway, their catering services are awesome. They do a great job in setting up, believe it or not some caterers just drop off the food and ask you to sign the invoice, but not them. They are always well prepared and put on a nice presentation of their food. I cannot say enough good things about how delicious their food is, from breakfast, lunch and dinner. They offer breakfast croissant sandwiches with either egg ham and cheese OR egg mushroom and spinach, I’ve never had a better breakfast sandwich in my life. The desserts are also amazing. There’s one called… the name escapes me but anyway, it’s do die for — individual cakes with chocolate gooeyness inside served with a side of whip cream, but nothing like cool whip, its the most delicious whip cream I’ve ever tasted, it shouldn’t even be called whip cream anymore. The rest of the food they make is just as good.
They really go out of their way to deliver top quality and I appreciate them! I just wish they still had Tuchetti’s so that I can get a fix in between work functions.
