Was one of the worst offices I’ve been to. I’ve been waiting 2 months for them to fill out my FMLA papers and still no progress. Was told by Sharon tht although I received meds and my insurance was charged for visits at thier office I never recieved «care» from them… what??? I was then told that having sickle cell isn’t a serious condition that would result in not working… news flash *you cant work if your sick. She than told me that maybe I need more Care than what they can offer… WHAT! I wish I knew that 2 months ago (btw I told them about my health at my first appt when I was severely sick at tht time) So now I have to beg my primary doc for help. If you are pregnant with any type of complications do not I repeat DO NOT GO TO THEM!!!

I absolutely hate doing this. I have an appointment coming up on the 26^th. Been trying to call to change the appointment for more than a month now and still nothing.
I am completely disappointed because I have been going here for five years! But scheduling has been a nightmare for the past 6 months or so. The wait to see them has been horrible.
I am guessing they no longer need their patients or they are too busy trying to figure out their new office.
Not only that but their billing has been awful. I get a call saying I owe but I’ve not received a bill. I can’t make a payment without seeing a statement.
I absolutely loved going in because my birthing experience with Emily was awesome. Unfortunately because you’ve not answered my calls for rescheduling and for being so inconsistent I am looking for a different place. Man this truly sucks!
Sorry CENTRAL PHOENIX OBGYN you are losing a patient and many referrals…

Dr. Sharon is amazing! She cares so much and is very thorough. She has the heart of a teacher.

I cannot recommend strongly enough against going to this practice, particularly to see Emily Tarazi. I called to make my first appointment back in October. I was told that both Dr. Rachel Dern and CNM Emily Tarazi had availability for pregnancy patients. No offense to those who prefer midwife care, (and not knowing the scope of my insurance) given the choice between an MD and a CNM, I of course told them I wanted to see Dr. Dern. My first appointment comes around. I am not seen by Dr. Dern, as requested, but instead by CNM Emily Tarazi.
The office itself is pretty scary looking (which is surprising as this is apparently their new location), chipped paint, whiteboards that hadn’t been updated, fast food cups and bags on the reception counter. The «reception desk» is in a back room, so you could walk in and not even be noticed. All of the patient rooms open directly into the waiting room as well, with nothing but an accordion of cardboard to block your nudity from view.
Their method of collecting urine samples is completely unhygienic. You enter the restroom, grab what looks like a fast food water cup (clear, plastic, no lid) and leave it in a cabinet that’s fully inside the restroom (no external access). You then sit and watch as several more patients file in after you leaving their own samples, and no one comes to collect them in the 20 minutes you sit there waiting, making it increasingly likely that someone can tamper with your sample.
Finally I go to see the doctor (who is of course the midwife instead). Very quick and perfunctory visit. No real discussion or efforts to make you comfortable. I had been experiencing excessive nausea, and she would only prescribe a very expensive new medication not covered by any insurances (but no worries, she had samples and a coupon. Oh. Sorry. Just the coupon, she had given away the last of the samples)
My next visit rolls around. Same office, same sample collection. Except this time, I wait for nearly 2 hours (totally naked, mind you). They had informed me that Emily was on a delivery (which is fine, I know that’s the name of the game), so I could reschedule or see the other CNM. Setting up appointments around childcare for my 18 month old is no picnic, so I opt to see the other CNM. After an hour and a half of waiting naked, I dressed myself and asked how much longer it would be, since I had another appointment to get to across town. They said it would be right away, and to just get undressed and wait.
So I wait another half hour (naked), and am finally about to give up and go to my other appointment when she comes in. It ends up not even being a vaginal exam, so I didn’t need to be undressed. She’s a bit more personable than Emily, and makes it obvious there were a lot of things Emily was supposed to discuss with me and have me sign at my last visit (including discussion about birth defect testing that needs to be done, you know, that week). I give a bunch of blood samples in full view of the rest of the office (no privacy at all) and end up late for my other appointment. At the end of the appointment, I received a «goodie bag» that I was supposed to get after the first visit. It contains a bottle of prenatal vitamins with the seal broken and pills missing, as well as a ton of formula samples and general pregnancy pamphlets. I don’t even schedule my next appointment, because I know I’m never coming back.
That night, coincidentally, the insurance claim goes through for the first visit, and though my prenatal care is covered 100%, they billed it incorrectly (shocking, right, considering the rest of their inadequacies) and I owe hundreds of dollars in co-​insurance. The next day, I switch doctors. A month later, CPOBGYN still hadn’t my transferred records, so I had to call again.
After months of run arounds and misinformation, I’m essentially told they won’t be fixing their error because «that’s what all doctors offices do» (funny, since the other two OBGYNs I’ve visited for pregnancy haven’t). It’s clear their office is penny pinching to the degree that they’re willing to pass costs along to their patients since they know insurance pays out less. My second visit still hasn’t been submitted to my insurance, so who knows what that’ll be. From the sounds of it, they’re planning on billing that out incorrectly as well to recoup the losses from me switching to a new doctor. In the meantime, I’ve received multiple bills from Sonora Quest Laboratories for nearly $ 1000 because they haven’t submitted the claim for my second visit, and they gave Sonora Quest incorrect insurance information (how is that even possible? They photocopy your insurance card for heaven’s sake). I’ve since cleared all that up by talking to Sonora Quest, no thanks to Central Phoenix OBGYN.
Overall, it was just a horrifying stressful experience that no pregnant woman should have to go through. I switched to Maricopa OBGYN after my experience there, and can highly recommend them instead.

I moved here less than a year ago and was referred to this office, absolutely the worst. Took the doctor forever to come see me in the room. Went for a pap and noticed they washed the supplies in a sink with just soap. really weird. The office never called me back wth my results. I finally called them and that’s when they told me my results. Gave me meds but said I don’t know if they will work. had to go back and leave my urine. called 2 weeks later and they said they had no record of me coming and leaving my urine. just horrible. I will never go back here again!

My partner and I had an amazing experience at Central Phoenix OB/​GYN. They treat all types of conditions with no judgement and are very professional. It is rare that you find a doctor that will take the time to educate you and make sure all your questions are answered. Dr. Dern made my partner feel comfortable and well taken care of. Dr. Thompson is very passionate about delivering healthy babies and always keeps the mothers best interest in mind. I would highly recommend all of the practitioners at this office.

I have been attending Central Phoenix Obgyn for years! They have employees who care.
Dr. Sharon Thompson is knowledgeable, personable, attentive and caring! I am pregnant and am grateful that she is my doctor and have the peace of mind of knowing she will be there when I deliver!

The first time I went was a year ago. The doctor I had was extremely cold and impersonal. She had no real bedside manner at all. I was so uncomfortable that I had no plans to ever go back.
A couple weeks ago, I had no choice and made an appointment for severe abdominal pain and only could get in to see the NP, Luba. I was called back into the room quickly enough, but then had to wait 45 minutes for her to actually come into the room. She was completely dismissive of every concern, while calling me «dear» or «sweetie» or «honey.» I was literally in tears due to the pain, and she told me to take Aleve. (Which was interesting in and of itself, because she told me not to take naproxen and take Aleve instead. Newsflash: naproxen is the generic name for Aleve.)
I told her that it felt like my ovaries were being stabbed and that I was sure that there was a cyst or something. Her response? «Oh, honey. You don’t know what your ovaries feel like.»
Fast forward a week later, when I went to a real doctor who actually listened and gave a damn: I got an ultrasound and sure enough I have two gigantic freakin cysts on my ovaries.
So much for being woman-​centric. Never again. Please find somewhere else if you have anything complex.
