The Business College has made some great improvements in the past few years. I see it competing with W.P. Carey and Eller in the near future if it isn’t already.

There are good schools to transfer to; there are bad schools to transfer to. There are schools who care about your education; there are schools that only care about themselves and go after your money. My situation? It’s all the latter. GCU only cares about the money, and whatever I pay up, I pay up. And did I learn anything from that school? A big N-​O! All I did for the first two «classes» (yes, I quote «classes») was to do little 250 to 500-​word paper write ups about what we learned about the class, how it affects me and my life, etc. This is a COLLEGE learning course, NOT an English learning class you took when you were a little kid.
Do you know what I would have done with that $ 1,000+ in tuition costs I had «paid?» I would have saved up some of that money for a roundtrip to another state to visit my girlfriend, or trade-​in my laptop for a new iPad; hell, I would even save up that money and give some of the other money to charity. But no… I have/​had to let these guys chew them up and spit it out, making me look at it, and think, «I’m not picking that up.» Because that’s how they’ve been treating me for the past 1 ½ years. Now look at me: No job, no education, still living at home with my parents. And you said that you want to HELP ME move forward with my life??? HA! What a joke!
Oh, and another thing I wanted to point out: Back in 2014, I had to go on a trip with my dad for «Christmas break» (Yes, I quoted «Christmas break») for about a month, and you’re telling me that I STILL «can go to class» while I’m actually abroad??? Japan/​China is 13 hours ahead of you!!! I didn’t know at first if I could staying up until 11:00pm Japan time while my parents are asleep just to get my «assignments» done. You guys say you get the holidays «off;» what about your students??? What about US??? Like I said, all you guys care about is yourself and money.

My daughter is finishing up her freshman year. I could not be happier with a college. Amazing staff and such a Godly atmosphere. Thank you Jesus for such an amazing school.

This school is absolutely ridiculous for online. I chose it because it had less classes to complete my BS and would be easier to keep working full time. HOLY COW. These people really are stalkers. They call me multiple times a week. The instructor calls and you have about 3 counselors that call too. This continues throughout classes. Then you have to take the most ridiculous class in the world before you start– UNV103 University success. This is a HUGE WASTE OF TIME. Its an 8 week class that makes you answer stupid questions and write pointless papers and do busy work assignments. Its all about «how to be successful», «what motivates you», «how to write a paper». You’d think you were back in kindergarten. The discussions require multiple posts 4x a week. I dont have time to waste on an idiodic subject like this. Why in the world would a transfer with an AS degree have to take this? Not to mention, in other classes, it feels pointless as well and like you’re not learning a thing. Not to mention, Cal States have a MUCH better business program. After comparing classes, I will be transferring. I’d rather work harder and learn more than have to suffer through this crap any more.

Graduating this week and continuing to get my masters here. Nothing but good things to say for GCU.

love this place. the campus is absolutely gorgeous! all of the buildings and dorms are brand new and state of the art. food options on campus are endless. everything from chick-​fil-​a, einsteins bagels, panda express, subway, the habit burger and more. the student body is growing rapidly making basketball games and all school wide events huge and extremely spirited. although campus is much larger than in past years it is still the perfect size to grow and meet new people while still keeping a close friend group and not feeling like just a number. the organization on campus is spot on! events are always well prepared for, occur often, and never lack the expenses necessary to do things the right way. vibes on campus are friendly and Christ like. walking and growing with the Lord is totally doable on this campus! opportunities are available at least twice a week, monday morning chapel services at 11:15, and «the gathering“every tuesday night at 8pm with extended worship and an encouraging, and relatable message. these options are not mandatory in any way, however they are there for students who would like to take advantage of them. i feel so blessed to call myself a LOPE and would recommend absolutely anyone to this school!

I really hope someone of some sort of authority at GCU reads this, because I speak for several people when I say the following.
I am stuck going to this school out of pure convince, being that it is a 15 minute commute for me, I can do online & on campus, and I got an amazing scholarship so my student loans are minimal compared to what they would be elsewhere. That is the only place the two stars comes from. I started going to GCU 3 years ago after it came highly recommended by some friends and colleagues of mine. I even went to their «Discover GCU» event and fell in love. The atmosphere was incredible, the people; even better. I had never been in dorms that were more state of the art (decided not to live on campus to keep costs down, but the facilities are amazing). In the last two years, I have been less than pleased, and considered going elsewhere for my degree. I started online, but when I applied to go on campus a little over a year ago, I was promised (as it is also in their commercials) about 20 people in a class, give or take. I took a demo class on campus and there were 17 people! Great! I was in. I wanted the community college feel, with the university name attached. Now, my friends class sizes are as much as 40 people! Not what any of us were promised. It is awesome that the school is expanding, but it is getting almost too large, and the students are feeling the brunt of it. Whether it is lackadaisical advisors who do not return a call, teachers who are taking twice as long to grade work, walking 30 minutes just to get from one end of campus to another, or, not being able to even get basketball tickets because they are now suddenly «selling out» GCU needs a reality check and FAST. It takes an hour to get food in the union, even during off hours. GCU staff is not even helpful anymore, due to being too overwhelmed by the influx of students. As far as the «always something going on» and fun events atmosphere & attitude, you can forget about it now. Every event is now overly jammed due to too many students and you’re often not let in, but that may not be such a bad thing because the events suck so much. There is almost no effort put in to them anymore and it’s truly sad. My friends that do live on campus would rather lay in bed and watch movies then go out and about on campus. Also, I am tired of being treated as less than not only by faculty, but by the student busy because I am not in the nursing program. I know this school can offer more because they used to. Instead of worrying about the NUMBER of students that is associated with this school, they need to be worried about their experiences, course material, online program (which is abominable) and the happiness of their students. I will continue to go to GCU as most of the students are great, and I love the values that goes along with this school versus the others in the state, but I hope things can turn around by the time I graduate, or I will be walking across the stage with a sour face, and a degree from a place I felt financially obligated to attend.

Best show on earth as far as the basketball program is concerned, we really enjoy the whole process.

This should be named Smile University! Extremely helpful and very friendly people here. Seemed to be genuine to! really was impressed with the beautiful facilities here as well.

I am currently enrolled in GCU’s online I/​O Psychology Masters program, and I feel that this program needs another good review amid all the other mixed reviews. I am more than halfway through my program, and so far it has been a very positive experience. Both my enrollment counselor and my Student Services Advisor have been extremely helpful the entire time. Any time that I have had questions or concerns, I have been able to connect with my SSA the same day and find a solution. Additionally, at the end of every class, there is an opportunity for each student to fill out an End of Course survey to give feedback about the class and the instruction. If you have other feedback that is more immediate, your SSA can forward this feedback to the correct department right away. I’ve had this happen for me, and I have always appreciated it and felt like my concerns were taken seriously.
I should note, however, that not all instructors are created equal. Some of them are absolutely fantastic, others are not as helpful and not very proactive. I’ll admit that this has been disappointing from time to time, but this is a typical experience for many students regardless of whether it is in an online class or not. However, if you enroll in an online program, you should automatically plan to be assertive and use time wisely to complete your work and get the help that you need. You can’t expect anyone to babysit you and tell you what to do.
Additionally, I have definitely felt that the overall quality of instruction has been great, and I feel that my paper writing skills, critical thinking, and research ability have definitely improved the last 10 months I’ve been enrolled. One of my textbooks was even written by a professor I had at Brigham Young University during my undergrad. Very legit.
The work is challenging, and the flexible schedule of online courses is hard to beat. I would definitely recommend GCU’s online programs!

Great university, but worst laundry machines ever. If you are looking to wear clean not soaking wet clothing don’t go to this university! But, the education is great so there’s that.

If you are looking for promises, this is the school for you. If you are looking for a school that supports their students, any other school would be better. This opinion is for online learning, distance learning, the on campus experience may be completely different. If you have a question, you wait 24 hours to get a response, if this leads to additional questions, you wait another 24 hours. Do not think that you can call an instructor as this doesn’t happen. After trying to deal with the format for 4 classes, the frustrations mounted and now a lot of time and money has been waisted. They will take your money and leave you hanging. The stress associated with this online school is not worth it, go somewhere else, anywhere else.

Speaking about the nursing program only.
Quality of the nursing professors and the program content is awful. Mostly busy work with very little direction and practical training. I overheard the instructors complaining that the school has cut back the classroom hours to such an extent that they don’t have time to provide the kind of training we need. Way too expensive for what you get.

The staff here have been stocking me over the past 5 months!!! Blowing up my phone with calls voice mails and emails i even blocked several numbers an they continue to use different people to call me!!! Do you not catch my drift?! I would never even look into going here just for that reason that’s crazy to continue to call me if i never answer! It’s like a crazy ex on steroids

Completely not what I expected. The university is BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN. They do a great job in giving students hands on experience. They purchased a hotel and a golf course to hand over to the students in their hospitality and golf course management programs to run. Their engineering program is growing, undergrads that are pre-​med have the opportunity to work in cadavers.
They also make sure the students are engaged in student life. There is something constantly going on from games to movies on the lawn and more.
I would have no problem sending my kids here!

So far, I love GCU. I began my graduate program a few weeks ago. Getting enrolled was effective and easy. Many staff members were available to help guide me through the process. My professor is organized, helpful, and informative. I am looking forward to continuing the program. It is pricey but what school isn’t..

My family and I went to a GCU baseball game this past weekend. The stadium was outdoors of course, and there were nice sections of bleachers. The bathrooms were close buy inside the air conditioned building. The concession stand had a good variety. The music was good, and it was a fun game!

Mother’s Perspective: I did a lot of work in helping my daughter attend. She is in her freshman year. While it fits my daughter’s financial situation, it is not her dream college. But she needed to put forth a lot more effort to make it to her dream college (San Luis Obispo), or be willing to have a larger amount of debt when finishing up her college education.
As her mom, I like what I’ve seen so far. Everyone I have come in contact with has a pleasant attitude.
My daughter raves about her counselor. She was having a lot of stress about finances, working, her schedule and not knowing if she should stay with her nursing major. After offering my opinions and thoughts, I strongly encouraged her to talk with an advisor counselor. She did it and she was so relieved once she did. She re-​arranged her schedule, made a decision to be on call only for her job. She is much happier now.
She loves her roommate, but feels like she missed the memo about how to have fun on campus… Not sure what that’s about. It’s hard on me to see her not completely thrilled with the campus and the college experience but she is still in college and for that I am grateful. The firs semester was hard on her, she really had to be encouraged by both her father and myself to stay in college and not come home. As it is she come homes quite often, it’s about 5 hours away and while I would like her to stay on campus and get in the routine of being there instead of home I can’t bring myself to say NO you can’t come home.

So there’s a bunch of kids here on Unilocal that are not satisfied with this school.
I get it. Maybe it’s not for everyone.
Maybe the your program was tough, or your advisor had no idea what he or she was doing.
But couldn’t you get support or find a new academic advisor?
This school won’t baby you. It won’t make sure you have a perfect advisor match and an easy schedule. It won’t reward you thousands of scholarships simply for gracing the campus with your presence.
If that’s what you’re looking for, then I’m sorry. Try another school.
This school is expensive. It’s challenging.
But it’s worth it.
In my experience, you won’t find another college where the professors genuinely care about helping their students succeed.
The other kids in my program are so friendly and helpful. I’ll be honoured to graduate with them.
The faculty is more than happy to help you with anything.
In fact, one time I got a flat tire and one of the landscapers helped me with it.
The campus is clean and safe. The security guards do their job well and are kind and friendly for the most part.
Food is good. Dorms are decent. Apartments are obscenely nice.
Don’t whine about how expensive it is. You could do worse.
Don’t complain about your advisor. You could get a new one.
Because at the end of the day, no one is gonna baby you into success. That’s something you have to do for yourself.

The campus is smaller than I expected, but it’s super gorgeous and clean! They’re also building things fast! Last month there was an empty lot… This month we parked we parked in a garage structure in that empty lots place. Looks like they’re building a couple more dorms.
The dorm rooms are amazing! I visited a triple occupancy n it’s very roomy… More so than I expected. I also love that each room within the suite has their own bathroom.
Everything is within close walking distance. Students longboard, razor scooter, bike, n wall to class.
I also love how GCU keepS the student body busy with fun events all the time. it makes for a great college experience. Esp for those who live & are stuck on campus.
If you arent in part of the athletic program, they have many intermural sports to get involved with. I love this! Keeps the students busy and focused on fun positive outlets.
It is a dry campus. I don’t know who they police that policy, but those that I’ve run across are pretty much into «clean» fun.
It was truly a blessing to see how many students actually attend chapel in the stadium and I even saw quite a few familiar faces at a local church we visited while out here.
I gave GCU a 4 out of 5 stars because the do not offer physics which isn’t a deal breaker, but def a slight disappointment.
Still Choose GCU! It’s a great school to send ur children to!
