History

Established in 1971.

In 1971, Dennis and Clara Martin started Martin’s Auto Repair. They built this business on honest and reliable auto repair and great customer service.

They did this while raising three boys and when their boys became old enough, they put them to work too.

Dennis and Clara are now semi retired.

Dave Martin, who is the middle son, stayed on to take over the family business and do the things his mother and father instilled in him by still providing honest and reliable auto repair and giving great customer service.

Dave has been the Owner and President of Martins Auto Repair since 2006 when he took over the family business from his father. His automotive career began in 1974 working as a station helper then as gas attendant. Dave personally runs his auto repair shop each day with 7 employees.

Dave married his wife Bo in 1992 and they have one teenage daughter, Qamree. When Dave he is not running his business he enjoys going to Qamree’s sporting events and helping her with practice. He also enjoys playing his own sports which include over the line baseball and bowling. Dave and Bo enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family. Dave is also a passionate football fan and proudly supports his lifelong favorite team, The Dallas Cowboys.

Dave was born with Spina Bifida and wants to help others affected along with growing public awareness. Dave has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2012 and looks forward to a year of growth, increased involvement and giving.

We brought our car in for an unexpected problem which is always the worst way to try out a new auto repair place. They are in the neighborhood and we had been talking about trying them out for an oil change on one of the cars and that of course meant one of the cars broke down.
Brought it in without an appointment and Glenn worked with us to get the diagnostic report done and repairs done. The car is older and we are not sure if we are keeping it much longer so it is helpful to know some other things we might want to get done if we decide to keep it long term. There was not a high pressure sales pitch to get things done like other places. Communication with report and specifics by email was great. No surprises.
Will be bringing the other car there for sure and recommending to friends!

I have several great stories of the service and care provided by Martin’s. One of my favorites is that Mr. Martin, and then Dave himself, stayed late one night and talked me out of driving out of town in what they viewed as my mechanically unsafe truck. They provided me a loaner car that night and to use around town the next day so they could keep my truck, and repair it the following day. I was then able to travel safely without worry. Also, I would bet that both Mr. Martin and Dave slept better knowing that I was not traveling in an unsafe vehicle. Thank you guys.
Another story involves my wife’s auto repair price comparisons with our friends and other repair facilities. She/​we found that Martin’s was very competitive for the services they provided.
Lastly, while my vehicle was in the shop for an unrelated problem, it was noted that my battery was also going bad. Since the battery was under warranty, they simply took the initiative to make the exchange and the repairs, saving me considerable time and frustration of having to replace the battery on my own or re-​schedule a return visit.

Customer service gets two stars: Glenn in the office was helpful, thorough and attentive. No one was pushy or shifty like some places. Bonus star for not requiring an appointment for oil changes like some shops.
Courtesy gets a star: John gave me a ride home in the company car while they worked on my truck.
Service gets a star: the turn-​around was a lot quicker than expected. I got a very detailed diagnostic emailed to me showing me exactly the terrible condition of my truck.
Price does not get a star: full synthetic oil change was about $ 15 more than what I’ve paid in the past.
TL;DR: Good shop, will go again.

I have been taking my cars to Martins Auto Repair for many years. I love the staff, they are always so friendly and helpful. I trust them completely when it comes to my autos. Before I go on a road trip with my family, I always have Martins check out my car. My car runs so well because of the great mechanics and staff at Martins. I had a 1999 vehicle I just sold a little over a year ago, and Dave Martin and his crew helped me keep it running smoothly until I decided to purchase another vehicle. When I did decide to sell and purchase another vehicle, Dave Martin went out of his way to help me sell my old vehicle. GREAT PLACE, GREAT PEOPLE, would not trust anyone else to work on my vehicles. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

These guys took me in first thing in the morning even though they had a full day scheduled. I was having issues with my Stabilitrak and traction control system. The problem was diagnosed and fixed in a few short hours even with a full schedule. I even overheard a conversation with the technician telling the customer they were going to cover the repair cost related to their vehicle since they had worked on a supporting part in the past. Usually a shop will tell you to find the receipt and bring it in to them before they will ever cover work that they’ve done in the past but this was the complete opposite. You just don’t get that these days! It’s extremely out of my way to go to the shop but I will continue to bring my business back here.

I have an older SUV and I have to say that these guys do a fantastic job working on my ride! As a woman, sometimes Auto Shops are a bit difficult to deal with but These guys treat me with the utmost respect and I am confident in there service! Local owned and family operated too, and I love that. I live a few miles from the shop, and when I need to leave the truck they drive me home and come get me when it’s done! I would highly recommend this place!!!

Here’s the bottom line… I didn’t leave a «happy» customer, by definition. But only because I ended up shelling out $ 800 for unavoidable repairs… that fact alone didn’t put me in a good mood. But with that being said, the staff at Martin’s Auto Repair treated me very well. They were cordial, explained in detail all the possible outcomes, and were able to complete my service in the same day. They also did a complimentary inspection and gave recommendations for future service. The ladies in the waiting area were very nice as well, and offered me a beverage while I waited.

I went to this auto shop about a year ago and they wanted to charge me $ 1k for replacing valve cover gaskets and other odds and ends. Well, I just went to Highland Auto in Chandler and they did the work for $ 376! They are really friendly at Martin’s, but I ended up spending over $ 700 there and didn’t have my original issue fixed. :(

I have had so many problems with my 2003 Jetta, in return I’ve met a lot of mechanics that just try to screw me over but not at martins.
I loved the customer service at martins auto repair.
Dave is wonderful and everyone is so friendly. They told me exactly what was wrong with my car and to bring it in again just to make sure it was handled correctly. I’ll definitely make the drive from tempe to here.

Martin’s is truly wonderful. I’ve had my Jeep for 15 years and they take excellent care of it. I’ve never once felt as though they’re making unneeded repairs. Anytime I have a concern regarding my Jeep, they thoroughly examine it and provide me every option so I can make the best decision. After reading reviews about Martin’s Auto Repair, I decided to take my Toyota in for a routine oil change. The employees were professional and personable and, though I didn’t take advantage, they have a courtesy vehicle to get you where you need to go rather than wait at the shop. Prior to servicing my vehicle, I received a phone call explaining the options as far as types of oil and an explanation of the benefits of one over another. Though a little pricey, I was pleased with my experience at Martin’s Auto Repair and will take my car back for maintenance and service.

They replaced the clutch in my Nissan Frontier about a year ago. After comparing prices for the job, the price was reasonable and service was fast, professional and courteous. They needed to make a small adjustment in the clutch pedal or something, and they fixed it immediately and apologized.

I’ve had some really wired things happen over the years with cars. Like shooting a spark plug through the engine. Or an engine that over consumes oil. Each time David and his staff have been fair and honest and most all all have listened to me rant and rave about my car problems.

Few things in life are more exciting and fulfilling than finding your first love, winning the lottery, or discovering a trust-​worthy mechanic who goes above and beyond for you.
Dave and Glenn were so helpful to me when I brought my car in for maintenance repairs. Understanding that I was on a budget, they helped make recommendations that were most important for safety first, and why. There was absolutely no pressure to do any of the work, so I can tell they weren’t putting their interests before mine.
They even provided a loaner car for me so I can get to and from work!
After the work is done, they walked me through everything that was repaired/​replaced. They ran tests several times throughout the day to make sure the repairs were up to their standards.
These guys will become your friends, and you’ll come to trust no one else because they earn it.
Best part? They always leave a cute little treat for you in your car when you come to pick it up. How can you not leave with a smile?

I can’t say enough good things about Martin’s-I first found them through Unilocal reviews when I desperately needed brakes on my saturn. they were helpful, reasonable, and had them done the same day. recently, I brought my car in again last week to get it in shape to pass emissions-​my tags were seriously expired and the check engine light had been on for a few months. glen kept me informed on everything that needed to be done, had the needed part rush delivered, got me a temporary tag, AND took my car down to emissions for me. it of course passed and my 10 year old car runs better than ever! i would recommend them to anyone needing a reliable, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced mechanic

Choosing a mechanic without a trusted recommendation or significant research is like having unprotected sex – it feels great for 2 minutes but could easily cost you thousands of dollars over the course of a lifetime.
That said, I found Martin’s Auto Repair on Unilocal and took in mine Honda Accord that was suffering from squeaky breaks and AC impotence. Glenn was particularly nice over the phone and even offered the use of one of their courtesy vehicle’s while they diagnosed my vehicle.
Glenn was very candid about my car needing not only new brakes but also having alignment issues and he explained that they’d need to do an in depth exam of my AC system that could cost hundreds of dollars depending what the issue was…
Sure enough, I got some bad news and he outlined the costs and my options. I originally fought back on price and necessity of the new parts as I have always lacked trust in mechanics many of which are con artists – making it more difficult for guys like Martin and Glenn to deal with disenchanted soccer mom’s and mechanically inept folks like myself. That said, Glenn took the time to educate me on exactly why I needed what and outline some other less costly options that would cut corners on the repair.
Ultimately they did a great job on my car and provided patient and trustworthy service. I trust them and will go back when I need my fan belts replaced.

Earlier this week, I came back to my parked car and it had left me a nice present in the form of an anti-​freeze puddle on the ground (in other words, my car was heavily leaking green liquid) –_​–
Me being still relatively new to Phoenix, I didn’t know where to turn to first. So of course, I turned to Unilocal.I read all of the good reviews on here and was willing to give these guys a shot, much to the dismay of my father who said I should have went to the dealership. Plus, they were able to take me in on such short notice, and I support small business.
The price they quoted me to replace my leaking Water Pump Hose was well under what i expected, and they were able to finish it rather quickly. I was late to work still, but for being a walk in customer, a half hour late to work was well worth it. The shop was clean, people were friendly, I didn’t feel pressured at all, and no one tried to upsell me (I’m in sales, its quite annoying). Excellent, Professional work environment
I got my car fixed on a Monday. It’s Friday today, and I open my mail box to see a hand written Thank You post card from these guys saying they appreciate my business. Never have I ever received a post card from ANY company, let alone an Auto Shop saying thank you. Normally, I’m not one for the cheesy and fake customer service routines, but this was real and genuine. I will definitely be coming back for all my maintenance needs, and i would highly recommend them to anyone
