Pinnacle at Union Hills Apartments

Moved in few days back with my spouse and 2 yr old kid. Relocated from FL for new job. We love the apartment. Great place for kids. Office staff Mayra helped a lot. She did answer all my questions with patience and she helped in all the process. I would definitely recommend this apartment to a friend.

Just moved in. Wonderful place to live. Nice community. Holly and other staffs are super friendly and cheerful. Very clean. Love the renovations.

Excellent place thus far! I relocated to AZ from North Carolina because of a new job and was fortunate enough to stumble across this complex. The area is magnificent and extremely close to my job which is a plus. The grounds are well kept daily by a great maintenance staff. The front office personnel had to be the ultimate selling point for me (Holly, Kelli and Stephanie). All have amazing personalities and go above and beyond to assist the residents with anything we may need. I’m happy with my choice. Stop reading this and come check us out! No seriously stop reading and schedule your tour.

I loved living here! it was quiet and the people who lived there were great! maintenance was always ready for you and the staff was great!
the only con I have is there were a lot of people constantly making curry and it REEKED all the time and after a while it made me super sick. But honestly other than that I truly loved living here!

Great place to live, excellent location. Good sound proofing, good repair and maintenance service. The office staff are great, always a smile, always ready to help. Average grounds maintenance.
Pros: 1 mile to Hwy 51 or Loop 101, 4+ grocery stores within 3 miles, easy access to two bus lines. 2 hospitals withing 2.5 miles. Cox and Qwest available. Reasonable cost per month. Gas station across the street. ²⁴⁄₇ pools, washer/​dryer in each unit.
Cons: #1 = significant lack of parking in the east end of the complex. Even with assigned spots, lots of people hijack assigned spots. No recourse or help with this problem. #2 if hwy 51 is closed due to wrecks or construction hundreds of people bail out at Union Hills heading towards Desert Ridge Mall making Union Hills Dr. and Tatum a parking lot and impossible to leave the apartment complex. #3 Pools can be really nasty. Last time I swam, there was a greasy black bathtub ring around the main pool and the water was cloudy and murky. #4 trees overhanging the sidewalks = branches in the face and tree debris on the sidewalks tracked into your apartment. #5 sprinklers run during the day = tree debris tracked into the apartment since your shoes and pant legs are now wet. #6 Fire Ants on the sidewalks #7 puddles of standing water from over watering breed mosquitoes. #8 all kitchen cabinets/​drawers lack knobs, and they’re super ugly, in my unit the counter top surface is not attached to the particle board underneath in places. #9 there is green algae growing on the walls of the hot tub. #10 cockroaches in the bathtub come up from the sewer — you need to keep bug spray in the bathroom.
Summary: the best thing about the complex is the location, the staff are helpful and eager to please. Maintenance is fast. The campus looks great. Kitchens are ugly but functional, lots of cabinets. Parking is a problem, and traffic on Union Hills can make leaving a big hassle. Pools are nasty nasty!
Bottom line: if I had my lease to do over again would I rent here: Yes, absolutely. It’s greatest asset is location, location, location.
Update: since moving in, I have had one cockroach every 3 months appear in the bath tub. One night, my kitchen was invaded by dozens of large ants — I went to the store and got a spray can myself and killed ‘em all.
As of late July ’09 the black scum ring was back on the main pool — very nasty.
Update: august 5^th: pool scum getting worse, people now etching their initials in the scum on perimeter of the pool. I have photos.

Great place to live if you want to be close to the freeways. This complex is very close to both the 51 and the 101, making it very easy to get around no matter where you want to go.
Plus, you’re super close to Desert Ridge– which means you’re only a few minutes away from Target Greatland, tons of great restaurants, bars and of course, great happy hours. Cab rides cost about $ 5 from Desert Ridge to Pinnacle, so why not have that extra vodka/​soda?

The complex is nice and kept up well. The apartments were built in 1996 I believe, so of course they’re not going to be perfect, but they’re pretty darn nice. Real tile in the kitchens too! You’ll only understand my excitement if you’ve lived with linoleum.
I lived here for awhile and really liked them. The pool is nice, workout room is great and they have plenty of fans to keep you cool (very important!). Oh and extra parking isn’t bad either… if you’re looking for a new place to live, I definitely recommend Pinnacle!
