Rainbow Donut is your legit neighborhood donut spot. It’s nothing over the top but they have an awesome assortment of freshly made donuts! We went with a dozen and it was $ 10 bucks and change for the dozen which included a $.75 up charge because an apple fritter was selected amongst the chosen 12… The donuts were good, but not great… The maple bacon didn’t look appetizing enough to order($.99 up charge when ordering a dozen) I wouldn’t make any special trips or journeys to Rainbow, but if you’re in the hood and craving donuts, you won’t be let down.

Reviewer Jonathan E. is right on — the simpler donuts are the best. My chocolate cake glazed donut was perfect. The cinnamon roll was fine, fresh but pretty generic in taste. The maple bacon glazed was fine but too sweet and didn’t have that strong bacon flavor you need to balance the maple and sugar. Easy to locate but not a very large parking lot. Service was super friendly and fast. Got the two donuts and the large cinnamon roll for under $ 5, so a good bargain. If you’re looking for donuts near the airport on Mondays when the Welcome place is closed, this is a solid alternative.

Awe man. This Rainbow led to disappointment. Stopped in for two dozen Saturday morning to treat my work team. 6am and the place was poppin! The donuts are good looking and the place is clean. Also, I see they sell sandwiches. Cool! Picked out my teams favorites– long chocolate bars, maple iced, strawberry iced, chocolate iced, and a few others. The actual cooked dough is good. Not very sweet which I imagine some people enjoy, but not me! The not so sweet donuts with icing all tasted the same! I am quite certain their icing is just a thick glaze with food coloring! Zero flavor! Yes, even the chocolate! I was looking forward to that artificial strawberry taste! I feel this place is cheap with their product but not inexpensive for donut lovers! Sorry to tell ya my fellow Unilocalers! This rainbow has no gold at the end :(

After 2 years in Phoenix, I finally found a donut place which churns out consistently high-quality simple donuts. Located in an unpretentious building with super-friendly and efficient staff, my average wait time was less than 3 minutes over the past 6(yes, 6) visits. The Good: Great variety of donuts. The simpler ones are the best(Chocolate & Mapel Glazed, Old Fashioned & Cruller). Inexpensive(paid $ 3.xx for a bagel w/cream cheese + 2 long johns). Staff is friendly yet efficient. The Not-so-good: The more complex donuts tend to be sweeter(understandably so). Overall: Great place, excellent donuts, superb service. Stay away from the jelly-filled, super crazy donuts and go for the simple, fluffy and fresh glazed donuts. Your taste buds(and to some extent, your waistline) will thank you for it. :).

Best donuts in town so far! We used to eat at bosa then found arizona donut company which was even better THEN started coming here due to the whipped cream glazed donut sandwhich, only donut that exists! It’s just as good as az donut co.

Great apple fritters ! Bring cash!!! They charge for debit/credit. What is this am/pm or the early 90’s? If the doughnut was not as good as it was I would give this place less stars because paying for debit/credit is DUMB!!!

Best donuts in town. These locations are all great, but this one on McDowell is the best. Everything is clearly labeled, service is fast, and of course the donuts are great. Stop by before the morning rush and grab a frosted cake donut. Beats the competition hands down any day!

I had really high expectations going into rainbows first of all it is a really sketchy area. Then the employees were really rude did not really help us out when we asked for help. I’ve had better donuts.

They have a wide variety of donuts to choose from. I always end up ordering 3 for myself. Great to go to if you’re in a hurry in the morning and don’t have time to make yourself breakfast.

There’s a few trendy doughnut shops opening up around the city. Those are great, but I prefer Rainbow! The doughnuts really remind me of a doughnut shop from my childhood. We’d wake up early on Sundays for church and as a reward, we’d get to eat sugary doughnuts after. But that’s besides the matter. THISPLACEISAMAZING! They’ve got tons of yummy options. Doughnuts if you want something sweet and croissant-wiches if you are partial to more savory options. So far, I’ve only had the doughnuts. Dough is perfect, icing is just sweet enough. My go to is a chocolate glaze, but I’ve ventured out to try other flavors. Recently, I tried the milk and cereal doughnut(which I loved) and the orange glaze(surprising, refreshing, but not really my preference). The prices are really great too. Cheap but not like they’re just giving away food, like a local doughnut shop should be. I don’t leave with three or four doughnuts and coffee wondering what I just spend my $ 20 on like I’ve done at some of the trendy doughnut shops in town(I’m definitely not ragging on them. They’re good and their designs are awesome, I just like Rainbow better). My best advice is to go here early, or on a weekday, but still morning. They tend to run out of the more popular doughnuts towards midday.

I don’t think I’ve ever come across a donut I didn’t like … Rainbow Donut is conveniently located near Banner Good Sam and is on the main road so it’s easy to get to. Walked in at 5AM to an empty shop and a solo diner having his coffee and donut. After looking through the case, the Maple Bacon donut caught my eye as well as the Raspberry filled donut. They both came out to be less than $ 3. Maple Bacon donut was so fluffy and airy– love. The maple flavor was there, not too sweet and more like a semi-solid glaze. It came topped with cut pieces of bacon which I found to be a bit too tough and salty, but was okay since there was more donut than bacon to balance it out. Raspberry Filled donut was also similar in texture as the donut was fluffy and soft, however I wasn’t a fan of the Raspberry filling. Too much thickening agent to it, very gelatinous and artificially Raspberry. Service was fast since I was the only customer there at the time. I’lll probably try out their classic/raised donuts instead next time!

Stumbled in one morning(about 4AM) looking for something to get me started and asked the«Baker» what the best Donut was. He responded that«glazed is our best.» In the case I saw a Whipped Cream filled Glazed Donut. Combine two of my favorite food groups and I am a sucker. About six or seven trips later(I have lost track!) I am still absolutely in love with this combination. The Baker swears it is real whipped cream, I doubt it but I could care less it is so good! Don’t miss it!

My husband and I had a hankering for donuts one afternoon. So we decided to try rainbow donuts. We’ve lived in the area for 10 years and never thought about this place. My husband is a die hard DD fan. I decided on old fashioned and buttermilk. The buttermilk was so good! Crunchy on the outside, moist and buttermilky on the inside. Yum yum! My husband got the jelly and Boston cream. The Boston cream was a Boston cream — delicious!

These are really good donuts! Fast service and lots of choices. Bought a couple of dozen donuts for my co-workers and they loved them as well. My favorite was the plain glazed donut. It was so fluffy! They were all fresh. My only complaint was the bacon donut, I noticed in the pictures that some have bacon«sprinkles» were the bacon looks real and crispy but in little tiny pieces and then some just have 4 pieces of bacon placed on top. Yeah, I didn’t care for the one topped with 4 pieces of bacon and that is all they had. I will continue to come here and see if I get lucky!

Donuts are the source of more smiles than both rainbows and unicorns. Combined. I read that somewhere on the ol’ interweb… and dangit, I believe it. Especially if those donuts are from Rainbow. Maple bacon, whipped cream filled, toasted coconut, chocolate cake with coconut shavings. Those are just a few of the magical flavors that the wizards at Rainbow have concocted with their wizardry. Everyone, put your hands up in the air and say it with me now… RAINBOWDONUTS, WOOHOO!

MAPLEBACONDONUTS!!! I have been hearing about Rainbow donuts and how they have maple bacon donuts, so I was in the area and I made a stop for them. It was about 11:30 on a Sat morning, and I knew that my odds of finding them where pretty slim because I have already been forewarned that they sell out pretty fast. I walked in and saw the display case of donuts, the normal kinds you find at a shop, and I was going to give up on my search for them, but the lady behind the counter asked me what I had wanted and I told her it doesn’t look like you have what I came for and told her what I was seeking, she asked me how many did I want, told her 4, she said give me 3 minutes and I’ll have them for you! OMG she was going to make me some right then and there! This lady rocks in my book! She came back out with 4 maple bacon donuts, they looked sooo good, I thanked her for making them just for me and took my donuts home. 3 out of 4 loved them! The picky one(my oldest daughter) said I know that’s not bacon on my donut. She couldn’t get her mind wrapped around it! The donut was perfect! The maple and bacon melted and blended beautifully! I am a fan!
