Disgusting RUDE people. The cars are smelly and look very troublesome. This company is out to screw you and charge you more than they originally tell you. The owner is a miserable, unfriendly rude creep who doesn’t have a clue on how to behave or treat customers. Read all the negative reviews about how people have been treated. If you want to have aggravation and a nightmare, rent from these nasty, dishonest folk. STAY AWAY AND BE CAREFUL.

Horrible horrible people. I wish I had read about the law suit against them before I used them. I experienced the same bait and switch of weekly price and being charged something else. The ‘manager’ who is a thug, berated me on the phone. They have many additional fees: $ 12 to clean car, $ 30 to drop car at off site off hours lot and they charged for any days the car is at the off site lot even tho they were told car was there. I have rented for 2mon for them at over $ 1500, but I wasn’t even afforded the removal of $ 90 fees for ridiculous add on BS. They are plain on thugs. The cars don’t have working odometers, locks don’t work, cigarette burns, warning lights on that I was told to ‘ignore’. DON’T USE THESE people because in this case, YOU DON“T GET EVEN WHAT YOU PAY FOR. They are mean and plain old robbers in guise of running a business. I am not done w/​them legally.
It’s a shame people like this get to run a business.

Stay far away these people quoted $ 159 flat for the week when I brought car back it was $ 289 when I questioned anything they laughed in my face said i signed a contract. I wouldn’t think they were even operating under a legal name as Phoenix car rental. They used to be under Sabans car rental and they changed the name due to they are lying scum bags.
The car was a piece of crap and stunk and the Ac didn’t work. Go here to be ripped off. Rip off lyin scum bags no joke.

Terrible is all I have to say. Van was a piece of junk. Had to use a knife to unlock passenger door. We feared doors would fly open at any moment. Seat belts stayed locked and nearly choked out passengers. Dirty, broken parts, stains, burns yet they charged us a cleaning fee. Oh the fee’s, $ 99 turned into $ 280, what a joke. While going up hill the engine sounded like it was going to explode. Van was given to us on empty, but when we returned with more gas no discount was given. I have never been so appreciative of the service I have received from a company as I was this time. Even though the final prices exceeded their estimate of what I was told I knew all of the charges were fair and justified. The willingness of the gentleman at the customer service counter to come out and remove the rodent from under the passenger seat was service above and beyond the call of duty. Their forthright attitude and knowledge of repair facilities in the part of town that the car broke down in made what might have been an unpleasant experience quite tolerable. I will have no trouble recommending these fine people to all of my friends.

I do not know how these people stay in business. When my 19 year old rented from them a while ago he nearly died in an accident on the freeway. Luckily he is an excellent driver and got to the side of the road safely. Everything everyone on here says also happened to us. They couldn’t be reached for a tow, never sent help, wouldn’t relinquish a copy of their «insurance policy», blamed the driver (even though the tire blew), charged extra to his account! These are really sick people. We contacted the cops, the BBB, and 3 On your side. Yet obviously from the date of these posts, they are still doing business. Please do not rent from them it is not worth your life.

I have rented from Sabans the first time and they offered a great deal for a pick up truck while I was renovating my condo. The truck was a s@&t box and kept over heating. Well it served the purpose. Since then I rented another truck because I needed it to move some furniture and then some family was coming out to visit the following week. When I brought the vehicle back I told“Pete” (the owner) that I needed a car for the following week and he said to pick any one of the cars on the lot in a certain row and it would be $ 189 for the week. Well, this car was a six year old impala that had160,00 miles on it which you couldn’t see real easy because someone took the time partially cover the odometer. Well it served the purpose until I returned it. I was in a hurry to get to the airport and when I got home, I realized I was over charged for fuel that was not used and for the vehicle, $ 249 per week not $ 189 quoted. When I called him to dispute the bill he used profanity and told me I was wrong and if I didn’t like it go somewhere else. Well my bill for the two weeks was over $ 700 dollars. Total ripoff to rent shit boxes. Do not use this company Phoenix Car rental owner «Pete». I will peruse the matter in court and notify the attorney general.

They have such a BAD reputation that they are now advertising as PHOENIX CAR RENTAL. That is how I got stuck with them. I was in town for a meeting and needed a car and all the other places were sold out. So… I made sure not to look for Saban’s as I have rented from them in the past (and the were horrible then) and I got tricked by the name Phoenix Car Rental…
The cars are pieces of crap. The one I got for $ 45/​day was a 2004 Pontiac Something with a broken center console, chipped off plastic everywhere, it STUNK like stale cigarettes and had a radio that DID NOT WORK.
THEN! I saw my bank statement after the fact and it ended up being WAY more than they disclosed! MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BACK OF THE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING!
The guy who runs the place is a total jerk and told me he had better things to do with his time than go over my bill with me so I better just listen!
I am going to call the better business bureau FOR SURE!

This Business very dishonest! One of their leased or rental car hit my car. They didn’t not pay for the damages they refused and gave me the run around.

Everything everyone is saying is extremely true. Stay as far away as possible! They will steal from you and call you horrible names. The owners name is «Pete». The Attorney Generals Office is investigating. They have stold over $ 545 so far. They are also know as Phoenix Car Rental.

BAIT-​AND-​SWITCH! Rented here here because they are the only place I could find in Phoenix that would rent to drivers under 21. (Wanted to share driving with my college-​age son.) Was assured on phone when making reservation that there was no surcharge for under 21 drivers. (No written confirmation of either reservation or rate was sent though.) At the rental counter was told $ 19.95 surcharge for under-​21 drivers was mandatory — take it or leave it. Also, when making reservation, I said I wasn’t sure whether I wanted car for 2 days or longer, so was quoted weekly rate and daily rate for early return. At rental counter was told I had to commit to weekly rate (3x daily rate) at start or would be charged daily rate for all days of rental. I realize that with no written commitment, this is a «he-​said, she-​said» tale — but I still felt taken advantage of.
We rented the car anyway. They tolkd us it had ½ tank of gas, but in fact it had only ¼ tank. And the car smelled unclean — like a combination of old urine and mold.
Too bad the rental availabilites for under-​21 drivers are so scarce — so operators like this have yu over a barrel. If you’re over 21, or can come wup with an alternative, GO ELSEWHERE!!!

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I called to reserve a car and was given a great daily rate. However when I signed the contract, I didn’t read the fine print that there is a $ 30 drop off charge; $ 12.95 per day surcharge, $ 11.99 cleaning charge, additional $ 19.95 per day surcharge for my age, $ 16.95 per day surcharge for using a debit card and not a credit card to rent the car, $ 3.00 per day charge if I left someone else drive the car — list goes on and on. Rent from Hertz or Avis and save a lot of $$$. Google this company and you’ll see 100’s of complaints.

Beware of this company. Promised us a newer Caravan or Venture for $ 449/​week. I made sure to check beforehand that $ 449 was the total cost including all taxes, fees, etc. When we got the the place the individual who appears to be the manager said that he was upgrading us to a newer Yukon since the van was over three years old. The car we got was actually six years old and in horrible condition. There was no radio, it was dirty, had unusuable wiper blades, the doors didn’t lock properly, the tank was completely empty and the worst part was that all the check systems lights were flashing when we started it up. My husband asked the individual and he said that it was just a «computer reset issue» and that the car was fine. Well, on the way back from Vegas we broke down at Wikiup at about 1 am because there was a major electrical problem with the car and the alternator would not charge the battery. Since there were no services or place to stay in Wikiup we had to drive 78 miles through the desert with no cell phone coverage, increasingly dimming headlights on a two lane highway to try to get to Wickenburg so we could get some assistance. We called Sabans/​Phoenix/​A-​1 car rentals many times but their phone just rang and rang with no answering machine. We even tried the other numbers they have listed wit the same result. The car completely died as we literally rolled into Wickenburg. We left the heap of crap there and managed a $ 150 cab ride home at 2am. This morning when we went to Saban’s the individual told us that he doubted the car had an elecxtrical problem and asked «why didn’t we call him?» When we explained about the phone he accused us of hanging up on their answering machine, which makes no sense at all. He refused to admit that they did not have any way to reach them after hours. When we pointed out that he rented us an unsafe, poorly maintained car that had all sorts of warning lights that turned out to be legit and not a computer glitch, he told us that we were idiots for driving the car if we thought it was unsafe. I suppose he thought we should have just parked by the side of the road, in the middle of the night, in the desert, with no phone coverage with all our kids in the car. He also called me a BI*CH because I pointed out that he rented us a vehicle that put my children’s lives in danger. This extremely rude and obnoxious person also charged $ 700 on our credit card without our authorization and told us he could do that and to «read our contract». A contract does not protect him from being grossly negligent. We could have gotten into a fatal accident due to the dangerous condition of the car he knowingly rented to us. The receipt he gave us had all sorts of illegible scibbles on it in additon to the $ 449 price, but we did not initial any other charges. He also refused to give us back a copy of the receipt when we left telling us it was a «temporary» receipt and since we turned the keys in we weren’t entitled to have a copy. He broke so many laws it isn’t even funny. We called AMEX and they reversed the charges and they are investigating the situation. We will take this sucker to court if we have to. I am contacting the BBB and the city attorney. I am sure that businesses can’t rent cars that have indicator lights saying the airbags and brakes need to be serviced. We took photos of all this so even if this individual tries to deny renting us a piece of crap and trying to rip us off we have proof. BE WARNED!

Do Not Rent From Saban’s Rent A Car, aka Phoenix Car Rentals. Although it may seem, in the beginning, that you are getting a great deal, you will pay more in the end. They are not consistent in their prices and will charge you for services that you did not use. My pickup place was a few miles from the airport and was difficult even for the taxi driver to find. The car was dirty. I had to clean out several water and soda bottles. The whole car smelled like Pledge. There was barely a half tank of gas. You get what you pay for. If you want to go cheap with this car rental company, you will get cheap. Although the charges in the end for the rental wasn’t much less than if I had gone to Hertz, Avis, etc. at the airport, I will go with a well known company and spend that little bit extra next time to get quality and professionalism.
