Sheraton Grand Phoenix

I have now stayed at the Sheraton Grand for two consecutive years as a participant of Phoenix Comicon. I already plan to book this hotel again next year. Why?
— Wonderful front desk staff. This year I arrived at about 1:30pm and I was able to check in right away, even though the official check-​in is 3pm. This was a huge relief, as I had a lot to do!
— The rooms. Both years, my rooms have been perfectly clean and ready for occupancy. I LOVE that they include a mini fridge. They even included two gratis water bottles – a welcome relief, considering that the temperature would hit a record 115 while I was there.
— The Make a Green Choice program. I’m not keen on having strangers in my room during my stay, and it’s nice that Sheraton actually rewards me for saving the housekeepers some extra work. I had a $ 5 voucher for each full day that I didn’t use housekeeping. Both years, I have used my $ 10 in cards at District downstairs, which leads me into…
— District. A lot of hotel restaurants are mediocre. District is one of the best restaurants in downtown Phoenix. The food, the service, the atmosphere – everything is top notch. Yeah, it’s pricey, which is why going there is a once-​a-​year treat, and why the vouchers are nice.
— Considerate touches. During Phoenix Comicon, with many participants staying at the hotel, they put vessels of ice water throughout the lobby. This was wonderful for filling bottles or getting a quick drink in a cup. As I mentioned earlier, this year it hit 115 during an unusually early hot streak, so that ready cold water was a wonderful safety measure.
— The elevators. They are FAST at the Sheraton. Drop by the Hyatt, with its slow elevators and long lines to board, and you will see quite a contrast. At the Sheraton, it was possible to get from the lobby to my room (this year on the 24^th floor) and back to the lobby again in a matter of minutes.
— Wi-​fi. Included with the room and of a good speed.
— Location. If you’re doing things at the convention center, it’s only two blocks away. I haven’t used the light rail, but the line is just a bit farther south. Lots of restaurants within a few blocks.

This was our first time getting a hotel. They told us nothing. I asked a billion question when I called and reserved the room. I only find out when at said hotel about the incidentals. Ok understandable. Day of checkout I find the stupid girl didn’t give me a total with tax. Kinda makes it feel like hidden fees when you get your bill and bam sixty bux more than you were informed. This was the worse experience ever. Me and my friends will never stay here again.

First off, the staff here was fantastic. They were very helpful and friendly. The proximity to downtown Phoenix is unbeatable as well, obviously. However, for work I always get put in Hilton’s which are more times than not cheaper so I do not see the value in paying more for the Sheraton name. I believe the 4 star rating is in the building façade and lobby and it ends there. Don’t get me wrong, the room was nice but not worth more than a Hilton. The elevators are set up in such a stupid manner (have to take a separate elevator if on levels 18+ to get to the basement for parking). The breakfast is completely overpriced considering all the great places to eat within walking distance for such less. I only stayed here because I got a deal through Amoma for roughly half off. I won’t be back unless I get a similar rate.

I booked a room weeks ago, requesting a noon checkin. I realize that is early and knew that they may not be able to accommodate it, but figured they would make some effort. It is now 2:55 (standard checkin is at 3:00) and still no room. So much for getting some work done.
Did get a room at 3, spoke to the manager. He was helpful. Raised my rating from 1 to 3

Every now and then my company does me a solid. I get to be home and get paid to be here. I usually go home to my own bed, but this time, since my husband had conferences at another hotel, I asked him to join me for the next thirty hours here and make a date night out of it. I mean, I am getting paid for this and it’s a great hotel in a great part of Phoenix! The location is superb. You are close to Chase Field here and conventions and conferences take place all around. The lobby has infused water stations, which is a nice touch in hot, dry Arizona. You must have a guest room key to access any of the guest room floors. I like that. I wish ALL hotels that I stayed in around the world were like that! The rooms are decent sized, quiet and the beds are super comfortable with plush pillows. Like all Sheratons, you can count on Starbucks and Keurig too in your room. My room also had a great view of the city. The awesome gym here overlooks the olympic sized pool. The hotel restaurant, District, has a great bar with awesome happy hour specials. District, itself is also a very good restaurant for a ‘hotel restaurant’ using fresh herbs from the garden they have on property. In the morning, there is a large buffet breakfast served, as well. Or Starbucks to grab and go. My husband valeted the vehicle and as long as you have a meal here, your ticket will be validated and that will be complimentary. All in all, this Sheraton is in the mecca of downtown. You can walk to anything that you need or want or have to be at for business and the ASU downtown campus isn’t far away, either. I found the staff here to be friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The service at this place is a joke. My first encounter with this was when checking in. I arrived after checkin time at around 3:10. They said that they didn’t have any of the king bed rooms available. And if I could wait at the bar. An hour goes by and I discover that they did have two full bed rooms available for the same price.
Then they put my credit card down for incidentals. This was a work related conference. My work credit card was given, months ago. When I got back they billed the room to what was supposed to be for incidentals on my own personal credit card. Then, good luck having those charges placed on the appropriate work credit card. It didn’t happen after calling several times. We just gave up, and I have to have work reimburse me.
I’m very disappointed in the incompetence from the staff at that place.

Pet friendly with no extra charge/​fees. Most higher starred hotels charge a fee. So I’m surprised when I asked the hotel staff that they don’t and all that you have to do is sign a waiver stating that you won’t leave the dog unattended in the room.
Hotel has multiple board meeting rooms. During the duration of my stay, MRS, an international company was in town for their large convention.
Olympic length pool with gym overlooking. Jacuzzi off to the side before you hit their outdoor bar and grill area that has an intermeshed herb garden for their restaurant downstairs.
Rooms are decent sized. Protection is based on needing a room key to access guest floors. Parking is $ 19 for self-​parking and a few dollars more for valet. Some rates have parking included.
Large lobby with a business center to use computers, print out boarding passes, get a coffee, hang out, drink infused waters, or grab a beer.
Overall, great experience during MLB Spring Training. Only an average of 20 minute drive away from Camelback Ranch. #gododgers

Hotel is fabulous. Room is furnished with comfortable bedding, but front desk staff member isn’t very well trained in hotel hospitality.

I asked the guy at the desk to give me change for $ 10. A Five and Five Ones.
Response: I don’t have any ones, check at the bar!
**if YOU know that you’re «out» of ones, YOU go over to bar and get change for your drawer!!!
Super Bad Guest Service. I’m hoping his manager will read this and educate him on customer/​guest service.
The whole reason for the getting change was to «Tip» the staff at this Hotel!!!

Arrived at 11 pm; there was one person working the lobby check-​in. We waited for 30 minutes for an African American lady to tell us they were not having a good day; sorry for the inconvenience. I asked for a complimentary breakfast and she nodded and said no. Don’t apologize to me because you are slow, unfriendly and uncaring. Room is comfortable, place is clean, customer service and staffing has room for improvement.
Returned on April 1^st and luckily Berris is working at the front desk. Finally, a respectful, kind, efficient employee which was able to check out party of six quickly,
Please make this man a manager and have him show his skills to the rest.
The main restaurant for breakfast is a disappointment. Breakfast buffet $ 17.95 plus tax and tip does not have enough options. The fresh cut melons and fresh made salsa are the best items presented. Today there were scrambled eggs with seasoning. I worry they incorporated cheese or butter in the eggs. This lowers the nutritional value. Bacon and sausage were neatly placed side by side under a stylish heat lamp; they were both sitting on top of a lake of melted fat — not good.
There is an abundance of pastries and breads; this is great if you are a teenager with the metabolism of a humming bird.
There was nothing special about this buffet.
Other hotels offer specialty items like traditional ingredients for Chinese breakfast, prosciutto, smoked salmon, vegetables, ahi tuna, something local from the area.
My waiter took over ten minutes to approach the table and when he did, he came with excuses why he was late. Apparently I was seated between two waiter sections and he was not going to approach with coffee until he for sure I was in his section. Then, every time he walked by he’d make a comment out loud ARE YOU OK? I helped myself to buffet and after I started eating he came with coffee and excuses, then few minutes later… DO YOU HAVE A COUPON OR ARE YOU WITH THE AIRLINES ?! OH I SEE YOU GOT HOT ITEMS, THAT’S EXTRA. The service at the restaurant is so bad that it’s actually entertaining.
I wonder if HOOTERS across the street offers a breakfast ?
I don’t understand how such a beautiful hotel have so many sub-​par employees. I don’t.
Housekeeping department is a five star service. They are intimidatingly top notch.

Not impressed considering how expensive it is to spend the night. The towels and paper products (tissues and toilet paper) are poor quality. Housekeeping failed to show up to clean our room and the front desk was rude when I called to inquire. No note paper or desk supplies. No bag for having the laundry service. Very disappointing.
The one good thing that I can say is that the bedding was very nice.

Really liked this hotel — clean, nice, green, well-​equipped. The greeting services were very nice — with beverage and refreshment offered. Standard freebies in the room included 1 pack of Starbucks coffee and 1 pack decaf Starbucks coffee, as well as two tea bags and cream and sugar. And a bottle of purified water. The toiletry liquids are not fancy nor impressive, but I usually bring my own so does not bother me.

Best experience! Lupe Muengia-​Pena is the best. It is amazing what a great check in and customer service focused person she is.

Nice clean room but the lady at the desk when I checked in was short and had a very unhappy look on her face that bothered me for the rest of my stay.
Pillows were so fluffy that they all needed to be stacked to equal one normal pillow. The lighting in the bathroom was great. Nice breakfast downstairs and it goes later than at most hotels, 11am I believe. The elevators can be a little confusing, since the desk lady took no time to explain any of it to me I suppose. Every other staff member I encountered seemed very nice though.

Decent spot. Clean lobby. Room was ok. Every night the bar has apps specials. $ 5 for 10 wings! After a long day of networking, this was the best.
Decline the house keeping if you are a Starwoods member and you bank another 500 points a night on your card.

Stayed here for a 4 day meeting, and the best part of this place is the staff is incredibly great and accommodating. Rooms are nice and large, bed is comfy. Wish they had warmer blankets, and when I called for an extra one, it was a paper thin blanket.
Food was decent, and conference rooms and restrooms are well kept and clean.
The elevators can go up and down if you don’t take your hotel key out soon enough to scan, but appreciate the extra security.

I really hate to post a negative review but what other choice do they leave me.
Okay I reserved a room with a king size bed in December for a business trip in February, checked in a little late but wasn’t worried because I reserved a room over 2 months ago and even got the confirmation.
Check in at 9 pm, and guess what 2 full size beds and no king, I tell the girl and her response is we don’t guarantee that you get what you reserved.
What!!! What the hell do you charge me for in advance and then?
Also the refrigerator in the room don’t work.
Would rather stay at a motel 6 next time might be better guarantee.
Also not any better than a Holiday Inn Express

Stayed here for work and extended my stay thru the weekend for the Rock and Roll race. Really enjoyed the overall vibe of the hotel, friendly service, and comfortable room.
I made a request ahead of time to be on a top floor/​away from the elevator and they accommodated that. Internet in the room was fast and reliable. Bed was super comfy and the room was spacious. Complete with Coffee Maker and daily refills of Coffee & Tea. I also took advantage of the small mini fridge to store my snacks/​drinks before the Race as well as the Safe to store belongings.
The gym here was spacious and superb. I used it and loved the open space and the nicely kept equipment.
Situated in the heart of downtown, we walked to the AMC Movie theatre across the street, had drinks at the downstairs lounge, ate at the District Restaurant within the hotel, as well as dined at several other neighboring delicious restaurants in downtown Phoenix.
Only downside (but at least it really gave me peace of mind) — Hotel parking is $ 19/​night but the in– and out privileges were super convenient by using our room key.
But overall, really a good value with greatest convenience. I will be back!

Stayed here last week for a corporate meeting. Rooms were clean, the elevators worked and the lobby/​bar areas are really nice. The restaurant onsite is quite good, too. (will do a separate review for that…). Room amenities are nice and the room coffee is even pretty good (Starbucks).
The staff was friendly and helpful… but I’m still waiting for my e-​mail with my receipt (and I checked out 5 days ago).
The rooms are a bit small if you’re sharing with a work colleague (and not a close friend or spouse).
Very conveniently located close to the convention center; about a 2 block walk.
Won’t be disappointed if we book here again next year (but will keep my fingers crossed for a bigger room).

It’s a nice hotel. I think it’s one of the nicer ones downtown. I’m not too fond of the layouts and where only certain levels go to certain floors.
However, the ambiance is good and I love the restaurant that’s connected to the hotel. The food there is pretty good. I also love that there’s a bar in the lobby too so you can have a good time whenever you want.
I stayed here multiple times and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s definitely nicer than a Four Points Sheraton! Haha. But you get what you pay.

In the heart of downtown, two blocks from ASU and 15 minutes from the airport, this Sheraton is very convenient.
The check in/​check out process was smooth and quick, the bell staff was helpful, and the hotel store was well stocked. My room was spacious, clean, and fresh; and the bed was Very comfortable. The desk area had great outlet access and was user friendly. The only drawback was that the TV was mounted right above it. It was a little awkwardly positioned.
The restaurant and bar on site offer good food and some nice local beers on tap and room service offers a good selection and is very prompt. However, the fact that they tack on both a service fee and a delivery fee, then have a line for gratuity is a bit much.
When you venture out of the hotel, there are numerous restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. There are also ever present pedicabs in the area if you’re to tired to walk. I would stay at this hotel again. It was very centrally located for my trip.
