The Cleaning Solution

The people who actually clean your home are fantastic. The management of the company is a totally different story. I bought a package of 3 cleaning sessions and received 1 free. I payed in advance. I used my first service and the staff did an exceptional job. I arranged for a second cleaning. Poor scheduling, lack of customer service and management not taking accountability for their mistakes (actually blamed problem on me, then the cleaning crew when it was their scheduling error) is what is prompting this negative review. Let’s just say I am normally a calm and reasonable person but their inability to listen and work toward a compromise got me very frustrated to the point where I am not proud of my behavior.
This company is lucky to have such polite, conscientious and hard working employees. That said, after I use my 2 additional sessions and I will not be using them again. I make purchase decisions based on customer service, and in my opinion, this company does not understand the concept. Additionally, when I mentioned I was planning on writing a Unilocal review I was accused of threatening them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY…
I purchased a Groupon for 4 hours of cleaning with 2 cleaners and attempted to schedule my appointment online (like it says you have to on the Groupon) and their website was down for weeks. When I finally was able to get ahold of someone in their office, they told me that I had to schedule an appointment online and they said that the «glitch» on their website had been fixed. I was finally able to schedule my appointment online (I had to take a day off work because of their 4 hour arrival window), and they contacted me and said there was a «glitch» in their scheduling system and they had to reschedule my appointment, so I rescheduled and took yet another day off work and AGAIN they called the day before my appointment and said there was a glitch in their scheduling system and they were coming the day AFTER I was scheduled. I said, NO you either come on Thursday like I was told I was scheduled OR I will request a refund from Groupon. They told me that they wouldn’t have anything available to reschedule me until after the holiday’s so I emailed Groupon. After I sent this email to Groupon, The Cleaning Solutions called me and said the miraculously had a Saturday appointment available (they previously told me they only worked Monday — Friday, hence the reason I was taking time off of work for them to come out) so I scheduled it. They came out to my house and did a mediocre job, at best. Of the two women they sent, one (Penny) worked her tail off, but the other one kept having to take breaks and just kind of walked around the house pretending to dust things. After four hours they were able to get 2 ½ bathrooms sort of clean, a couple baseboards wiped down, and the kitchen cabinets wiped off (although I have to go back and redo them because they did a horrible job).
SO, the Monday after they came out, I received an EXTREMELY rude phone call saying that I owed the company $ 356 for their 4 hours of cleaning because the Groupon I gave them had been refunded and that I KNEW about it and was trying to scam them. Come to find out, Groupon HAD refunded my money and the email I received went into my Junk Folder so I never saw it. This company emailed me multiple times saying that they were going to turn me over to a collection agency, and I told them I would contact Groupon to get the refund reversed… Which I was able to do (Groupon is AMAZING) and the voucher was reinstated.
I emailed the company about the voucher being reinstated and they never responded. I finally got an email saying that my «account was under review» and they’d let me know if it had been resolved.
They are SHADY and do a horrible job cleaning. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

*BUYER BEWARE* I will echo many of the same sentiments already posted. I utilized this companies services for over a year. First we were assured we were going to have the same cleaning team and didn’t, the door to our home was unlocked on many occasions after the home was cleaned, odd things would be moved or altered as, and the scheduling and customer service is a nightmare! So bad that I gifted $ 400 of undelivered services in order not to have to deal with them and make my life easier– which is why you hire a service like this in the first place– to make your life easier.
To competitive of a market to give them your business– Go elsewhere!”

Bought a groupon deal for 4 hrs 2maids for my 1600sq ft house.
Scheduling was awful, booked super far out, rescheduled once and then when they called to confirm, was told 2 hours later than what was scheduled… They showed up 2.5 hrs after scheduled time. Yes, in the email it said that they would arrive any time in the 4 hr window… I don’t like this practice.
Everything was picked up to make their cleaning easier. Overall i am pleased with the work. They also left about 15 minutes early. They washed a few dishes, but i don’t know what they were washed with! They are absolutely disgusting! (Wasn’t expecting this service, just annoyed the wasted their time doing this badly) Also disappointed in the mopping. Never changed the water and floors are a bit grimy.
My master bathroom looks good and was prob the thing that took the longest. It really needed the cleaning. She also moved my shoes and vacuumed under my dresser where i keep them. Cleaned out my fridge and wiped down doors and light switches.
All in all ok service, not great and for me to budget for such a luxury, it needs to be stellar!

The cleaning service itself I would give 3 stars but scheduling was a nightmare.
I purchased a groupon and set up the service via email as required. They emailed me back with alternative dates and times and I chose one of those instead. After taking the day off work for the cleaning due to my dogs they proceeded to call me an hour before the scheduled service time to tell me they had to cancel due to car troubles. They said they would give me a coupon for the inconvenience but I have never received one. We then set up another day which I again had to take off work for. They called me the day before that one and said there was a scheduling mistake and they could not come out. I scheduled it one more time and took another day off work. They called me the day before and didn’t cancel but did change the time. I also asked again about he coupon for compensation and they said they typically don’t do that but would look into it. What a bunch of crap. 3 days of missed work…
Now onto the cleaning… Yes, they did finally show up the third time. The cleaning that was done was ok. They worked slow but did a decent job on my floors and blinds which I asked to be hand wiped. The bathrooms were ok too. The dusting was not very good and there were several places where dust or pet hair had been left behind. They did hand wipe the baseboards as well, some places looked ok while others did not. They also did not dust off my wooden stair banister at all which I unfortunately did not notice until after they left. They did do a walk through with me and didn’t want to nit pick the little stuff with them but would have asked them to do the stair banister. It takes me about 7 hours to complete what two of them did in four (total of 8) however it was nice not to have to do it myself. It was a gift from my husband so I won’t complain to him about it but if you are buying this yourself don’t bother.

Staff was very friendly and was able to accommodate my tight schedule to clean a home before I moved in. Stayed true to the date and time that was given to me and staff showed up on time which I really appreciate.
Ordered 2 staff members for 4 hours to help clean a completely empty home. 2,600 Sqft 2.5 bath 4 bedroom home.
Cabinets were cleaned well, however they removed all of my drawer and cabinet liners and I was left with a stack of liners dirty liners that I still had to clean and figure out which liner when to which drawer/​cabinet.
Floors were mopped, but still extremely dirty. not sure how they cleaned the floor, but you could feel the dirt on the bottom of your feet on all of the tile and hardwood.
Walls and baseboards were not cleaned, Windows and Sills where not cleaned, bathroom showers were OK, Oven was not done. I expected more from 8 hours worth of cleaning service (4 hours x 2 people).

I bought a Groupon for this house cleaning company in 2014 and was very unhappy with the lack of basic cleaning expected of a service i.e., kitchen appliances and untrained staff sent to the job. BUT, the worse part of this «deal» was that after the cleaners left, I realized I had many jewelry items missing and a broken make-​up compact which was then hidden so I would not notice (unreported by the cleaner). The mopped floor had residue from the broken make-​up which is what brought my attention to the problem. The compact would not have been broken if the cleaner had not been picking through my jewelry. On the day the service arrived (late), I was very ill and was laying down and not following the cleaners around from room to room. A red flag for me was that they didn’t bring their housecleaning supplies into the house and they kept going out to their car (5+ times) «to get more supplies». The housecleaners went through my jewelry boxes out on my counters and under my vanity. I called the owner of The Cleaning Solution (TCS) the following day and explained the incident as well as reported the problem in an e-​mail. I also filed a police report and asked for fingerprinting, but they said since I «invited the cleaners to my home there would be no investigation». I was asked to itemize the items stolen and supply receipts to the company which I faithfully did. Since the company is bonded I expected to be reimbursed for the loss. They responded «you need to file this loss with your home owners insurance as we don’t cover our employees for this situation, breakage only.» Numerous phone calls, e-​mails continued for the next 5 months with no resolution. Last month my neighbor told me that her house cleaner from TCS commented «I got a $ 20. tip today from a regular client who said they weren’t using us anymore because his wife had her diamond ring stolen from our service on the last visit. When they asked to be reimbursed for the theft, TCS said you need to go through your own home owners insurance. This has never happened before and I can’t imagine our cleaners doing that». Ok, so how many other customers are out there with the same story as mine? I was offered a partial sum of the loss by TCS to not tell others my sordid story, but I believe in doing what is right. I want to save others the pain and loss of going through what I went through. The following week after the housecleaners were here, I installed security cameras in my home so that I can monitor strangers in my home. This company continues to promote their business on Groupon/​Living Social on a regular basis so buyer beware. Lesson learned: I will only use personal housekeepers that I know and trust.

So I come on Unilocal to due my «Yelp Civic Duty» of warning others to stay away from this company and find I am far from alone in the disgusted and disappointed camp! I could probably just copy and paste the dozens of others who have had the same experience but since plagiarism isn’t my thing, here it goes:
Yes I bought a Groupon. Does that mean I should expect to be disappointed? NO! Zero customer service skills from the scheduling staff and the wait is beyond unacceptable. I was also rescheduled and pushed out until I no longer needed or wanted their service. In the end, they never could accommodate me and I had to take it up with Groupon.
Save yourself the hassle, don’t bother with this company.

This company rescheduled my cleaning appointment three times. The first time I scheduled it was April, and here it is in November and I have finally decided to ask for a refund from Groupon because they have canceled three times. They never really give a reason, either. Very unprofessional. I wish Unilocal would let me give them 0 stars.

Wow I’m surprised at the negative reviews of this company.
I hired them using a Groupon to clean my empty rental house 2800 SF; 5 bedrooms.
They did an awesome job. Top to bottom; even re-​wiping areas again and again.
I was so happy when I moved into my 1700 SF patio home I purchased a groupon for 3 more cleanings. They have come to my new house once (so the 2^nd time they have cleaned for me). My Groupon said they’d clean for 2 hours /​2 cleaners.
In fact, 3 women came and they cleaned for 2 hours. I was thrilled with the thorough job they did. I recommend this company.

I really don’t know how this company has been in business for so long. The customer service is atrocious! I understand that in this field of work you can run behind as there are a lot of uncertain variables, but you would think they would plan for this by leaving open time for delays and rescheduling. The manager there who I spoke with, Molly was disgusting with her choice of conversation & had nothing to offer me but a reschedule 2 months out for a 3 hour late appointment, which encroached into the dinner hours. The way this company operates is down right unprofessional in inappropriate. Not only will I never hire these people again, but I will also never purchase a groupon again either. This is what I get for trying a new company at a discount.

I bought my daughter a Groupon (she is a single mom with four kids) and can occasionally use a little extra help. It must have been popular but when we called, they extended the expiration date (oh, oh-​I thought) due to overwhelming response. Typical on these types of offers. But we got an appointment, two women showed up during the prearranged time; went to work and did a great job-​all according to my daughter. In fact, my daughter said when they were walking to their car they swept a few of the rocks back into the yard off the driveway. A thoughtful touch. I don’t know what happened on the other reviews but, I would use them again!

We started off using the cleaning solution on a groupon. Our first experience was good-​friendly quick reply and a great clean. We then signed up for reoccurring cleaning and requested Thomas G because he does an amazing job and knows our dogs. We we’re told he’d come and if he wasn’t coming they would let us know so we can leave the dogs in the kennel or outside. They did not let us know and the new cleaners would not go into the house because the dogs we’re barking at them (completely understandable). When we talked with the holly and one other person (can’t remember the name) they we’re rude and continued to tell us «sorry you’re dogs didn’t let your house get cleaned»
They also did not make any attempts to reschedule. Then they double charged us for cleaning.
The quality of cleaning was good from Thomas but otherwise was horrible. One time when Thomas didn’t come we had to have someone come out and re clean because the house was still dirty. I couldn’t even tell that someone had been there. When we first complained again horrible customer service.
After a little over six months and any attempts at making things work, we finally cancelled our service.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone using this company.

I had TCS clean my house in June 2014, and a half hour after I left my house (after the team came late), I received a call from one of the cleaners saying that a valve on my toilet had failed and my carpet had been flooded. Both cleaners apologized profusely and repeatedly, while at the same time claimed innocence and that they had not even entered the bathroom yet. I don’t find this to be a plausible explanation, and I find it far too «coincidental» that the valve happened to fail the minute I left my house. I complained and the operations manager told me that there was nothing she could do, but that I should call back after I have a plumber come and tell me what happened. I will update this post if TCS exercises a bit of customer service and pays for whatever repairs their cleaners caused.

Was given a groupon for Cleaning Solutions as a gift. I was extremely disappointed in their service. They used a rag mop full of water on my real wood floors. I stopped them when I saw what they were using. They also used the same rag mop on my travertine floors with the same bucket of dirty water.
I asked them to feather dust my wood blinds. As the lady was using the feather duster she barley touched the blinds as she was dusting them. She did not even go over the entire blinds, she just went down the middle.
I called the office and told them I was disappointed with the service. I was told they would come back out to clean my floors with my products and cleaning devices. So we set up a time via email. Well, no one ever showed up for the reclean.
The following day I sent an email to Cleaning Solutions with the email attached showing the date & time my cleaning was to be and told them no one showed up. I received a reply back saying they would check into it. I did not received a email or a call from the company.
A small child would have done a much better job than Cleaning Solutions.

Had issues scheduling a cleaning, was told it would take over two months until they were able to fulfill the Groupon I purchased for their services. Very unprofessional and helpless.

While I was actually (relatively) satisfied with the work that was done once they actually cleaned, the process to get an appointment was a nightmare and less than accommodating.
Further more, when they arrived, I asked them to wear booties on my carpet which they were not provided. Since they weren’t allowed to work barefoot (due to safety guidelines), I talked to the owner about potentially rescheduling a time so that I can get my own booties for them to wear on their shoes (I have an infant with allergies). Instead, the woman — who was insanely rude and said she «didn’t want to get into a personal battle, but she didn’t didn’t know how she was dissatisfying me” — told me I couldn’t reschedule and would forfeit my pre-​paid service. «End of story.»
I understand policies, and why they are in place, but I do NOT understand why a cleaning service wouldn’t offer booties for carpet — I know I’m not the ONLY person to ever have this request — and further more, why the wouldn’t be willing to make an exception for a first time customer to reschedule.
Even still, the company’s cleaning supplies weren’t working nearly as well as the ones I use, so I ask them to use mine while they worked (Honest Company — natural and healthy), and they mentioned the entire time how much better my supplies worked!
Needless to say, I will not use their services again and I hope their employees success… with another company.

I purchased a Groupon despite really bad experiences with other cleaning companies via Groupon but it was definitely worth the gamble. After a few emails a date and time range was agreed upon. The cleaners arrived within the expected time frame. They were very friendly and courteous. They got to work right away and worked diligently. They finished just short of the two hours and I was very impressed with the work that was done. I’d never had my house professionally cleaned but they went above and beyond what I expected for basic cleaning. They cleaned the baseboards, made sure to move the fridge and clean behind it, dusted the ceiling fan blades, etc. I couldn’t find anything that hadn’t been cleaned or wasn’t cleaned to my liking. I highly recommend them.

I was another Groupon customer — and was very disappointed in more than one regard:
When I called to schedule my appointment, I was told I would have to schedule it online. Which I did. We emailed back and forth as they required further information– and I THOUGHT I was scheduled. Since they run their business via email, though, they required additional information. This request ended up in my spam folder and was never received. They never followed up. I thought we were good-​to-​go, so I took the day off from work and arranged to be there for the cleaning.
The day prior, I received no email, no phone call, nothing. The day OF, I called to see when their arrival time was, and they didn’t have me scheduled. Apparently, since they never received a response to their last email, I was no longer scheduled. There was absolutely no follow-​through.
Anyway, when I called, the person on the line (Holly) explained why I wasn’t scheduled, made no attempt to apologize, and was condescendingly defensive in how the situation was handled. Several phone calls later, we rescheduled. Done deal.
But wait, there’s more.
The night prior to the rescheduled cleaning appointment, I received an email stating that the phone numbers they had on record for me weren’t in service and asked me to update them with my phone number, and of course, I did. This was the same number I provided them when I scheduled the appointment, when I rescheduled the appointment, had multiple conversations with them a few days prior, and the same number I called to inquire as to their arrival time the day of the cleaning. Holly, condescending as always, told me that my number wasn’t good. Suffice it to say, I gave her a piece of what-​was-​left of my mind.
The cleaners arrived and did a sub-​standard job, not for a lack of effort or professionalism, but for a lack of having the proper cleaning products. Having been clear as to what the cleaning would involve in my online request, you’d have thought they’d have what they’d need.
Debbie, the owner, came out personally to finish up the job a few more days later. (Yes, that’s three days off of work to get my house properly cleaned.) She arrived fashionably late, but she did an outstanding job and made every effort to make the situation right, shy of turning back time and giving me my three days back.
It was quite the ordeal — an ordeal that could have been avoided if their office manager had any organizational skills OR people skills what-​so-​ever.
Will I ever use them again?

It depends on the team you get-​Terri is great and I forget the name of the girl who was teamed with her. My second team-​not so great. They ran out of stuff to clean and called me since they still had an hour left and I had a few more ideas, but after they left-​I noticed they didn’t even dust one of the entertainment centers! The shelves were caked with dust since it had been almost 3 weeks since I had last dusted.
