The Pig’s Meow is a great local, unpretentious bar that offers a laid back atmosphere and awesome beers! If you’re a craft brew enthusiast, this is the place for you. Bonus: the owners actually know their stuff when it comes to beers and are willing to chat with you about what you like!

Went after work on a Friday night with a buddy and stumbled upon this gem. Loved the variety of beers both bottled and on draft. Since moving to AZ from MI its been a struggle finding a place that has an amazing selection of beer from all over. Will definitely be visiting here again in the near future.

Overall, I prefer the ambiance of Whining Pig more (It feels like a real city bar), but prefer the Pig’s Meow because I’ve never had to wait to get two seats together.
This is a great place — the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and it’s a great environment to escape the real world for just a little bit.
Did I mention grilled cheese sandwiches?

I came here for a birthday get together and I think I had to ask my friend a few times to tell me the name because I thought it was a typo lol. It is nestled into a little shopping center (kind of easy to pass up). I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved the vibe, the creativity and the bartenders. I never felt like anyone was being ignored. I will def. be back!

The Pig’s Meow is a sort of ‘barcade’, where you play video games while you drink. I say «sort of» because unlike true barcades, the games aren’t quite the main attraction. You can enjoy some stuff like Nintendo or Atari from your table, sit at the spacious bar and chat, or go to the game room in the back, with an additional Nintendo juxtaposed with very some surreal hands-​on games and old (but clean) furniture. But like its predecessor The Whining Pig, having some suds and talking with friends and neighborhood regulars alike is the main attraction.
I can most accurately describe the beer selection is exclusive and high end, almost more so than any beer-​heavy bar than I’ve been to. That’s quite a few. Even when the breweries are more well-​known (ex: Green Flash), the brews listed from them are new or rare releases (ex: Passion Fruit Kicker). They’ve even got a list of the extensive 750ml bottles, corked and seemingly all limited edition.
And like its sister bar, Pig’s Meow has some cheap eats. Like *really* cheap eats. We’re talking grilled cheese… or even ramen, of all things. When my date was totally starving, it was splendidly polite of your bartender to prepare some Maruchan even after your ‘kitchen’ was closed. Keep in mind the locally-​made sweets as well, and it’s a welcome diversion.
And while there is much to come here for, there’s a bit to figure out. The game room, which has fewer video games than the room housing the bar, is truly kitsch, but at the same time oddly configured. There are board games, but a lack of flat surfaces on which to set them. I was rather dismayed by the thought of where a glass should be placed. I’d feel rather bad placing them on a vintage table game, but I would feel absolutely mortified setting it on the floor. Your layout encourages us to resort to this, and there are some exposed surge protectors about just begging to have beer spilled on them. Coincidentally, the smell of smoke and fear of electrical fire cut short our visit, leaving us to abandon the round we’d just paid for as firefighters marched in. I would hope these two problems are unrelated.
Additionally, consumers should beware of beer prices that are a bit steep. Even the more common selections are easily running a buck or two more than you’ll find them for anywhere else. It is as close to being objectively overpriced as I can assert in a review. Your acceptance of these prices, however, will reflect your beer philosophy. If to you, beer is a more casual alternative to wine and liquor – something you will drink volumes of to get turnt – this will leave you frustrated as you fork over $ 8 a pint. I feel you, and will at some point toast you with one of their $ 3 PBRs. If you believe beer deserves every bit of prestige normally reserved for more boozy beverages, think less of people for drinking said PBRs, have ever used the word «terroir» without irony when talking about beer, and like me, have an Untappd archive in the triple digits, this is going to be awesome. You, my friend, will be in hoppy hipster heaven. Both crowds should feel free to take advantage of the generous Happy Hour. For two or three hours each day, you’ll have no reason to complain about anything here.
Overall, this is a pretty good, premium beer and wine bar (yes! They have wine! I almost forgot!) everyone and anyone should be able to indulge in. With bars that are a bit far apart, and no light rail for miles, Arcadia has never really been a place to hit up when going crazy all night. But if/​when that happens, this is a place I won’t forget!

Imagine a bar where the bartenders sing old school rap songs and, when a friend goes to order you a drink, asks to have a quick chat with you to get your personality right so they can get the right beer for you. Make the music fun but keep it at a reasonable volume so you can carry on a conversation. Now, add a couple hundred games including scrabble, «fact or crap,» duck hunter, legos, and a bowling-​ball-​soccer pool table. Populate the place with a bunch of young doctors and other chill professionals coming off shift, and break a hole in the wall so the bartenders can chat with you in the nearby building. Also, serve delicious grilled cheese sandwiches from the back kitchen.
If you haven’t been to Pig’s Meow yet, go. Also, don’t tell the college kids.

Really excellent beer selection unrivaled by anywhere except The Whining Pig. Even more games than the Whining Pig including a Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and original Nintendo.
The bartender was absolutely militant about insisting that «we are nothing like the Whining Pig. The owners are not the same, we’re not at all like them». She seemed actually angry about it. The name is obviously close, the owner used to own the Whining Pig, the chalk board lists are the same, the room is set up the same, the games are the same, the music is the same, there are literal identical food offerings plus a slightly expanded menu, the bulding ia the same down to the tiles on the wall. Yet she was so insistent that the two were vastly different that she was almost rude about it. Strange.
In spite of the militant attitude regarding being SO different than Whining Pig this place is solid. Just enough room to keep a very intimate atmosphere, plenty of games, and a separate large room for big parties or stretching. Oh. and the beer selection. Don’t forget the beer selection

Emily and Sam are awesome. Pigs Meow is the best bar in Arcadia. I enjoy the music on Tuesday nights. There is always something new to try on tap and so many amazing beer options. The vibe and the atmosphere is so laid back and welcoming. If you haven’t been to the Pigs Meow you should stop in and check this place out.

This is an amazing neighborhood bar! I really love the vibe, it’s small and has 4 main bar tables with a game console each– Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, sega Genesis and an Atari. At the bar they have a lot of other vintage board games and trivia cards, as well as things like rock em sock em. (They also recently added a side room with a lot more space)
As far as food goes the menu is limited, but they have bomb grilled cheese on the cheap and the beer list is be rotating. They also have a wide range of beers in cans and a good wine list as well!
All in all I definitely recommend this place, just not a place for dinner, only late night munchies! Daily happy hour from 3 – 8 and all day Sunday which is $ 2 off all beers and $ 3 off wines

We dropped in for a drink and to check this place out after dinner at The Nook.
Wow. Who knew this little gem was here in this strip mall [and I come here regularly to LeLe Nails and Bosa Doughnuts!]
The place was packed, we were seated in the ‘low bar’ area which I didnt love, but it did give us a great vantage point to check out the overwhelming but thorough beer and wine menu selection on the chalkboard wall to our right and the ‘comfort food’ menu choices on the wall to our left above the old school nintendo and sega game hightop. Service was fast!
We checked out the separate ‘game room’ which was much quieter and reminded us of the same at The Little Woody, but a fun compliment to the main bar area and a great place to hang out with a group.
Has a great ‘retro’ [the 90’s are retro now?!?] vibe, it was really noisy, but a Friday nite, and we definately were the oldest patrons by 20 years, but was a fun stop on the way home. We will def. be back to try one of the ‘designer’ grilled cheese sandwiches!

Excellent beer and wine selection. A little divy but still nice. I think to work here you must a degree in Beerology and Justin is obviously a graduate.

Came back last Friday and was super bummed out. We walked in and grabbed an empty table right next to the bar. Sat there and played board games for about 30 minutes… anxiously waiting for help. 2 servers/​bartenders walked right by us (one did three times) carrying other people’s drinks. They werent overly busy so Im not sure what changed from our last visit. Finished our game and left… thanks for the free rounds of Operation!

The Pig’s Meow stands out as one of the most unique and unexpectedly-​enjoyable little bars I’ve ever had the fortune of walking into. Unfortunately, I can’t take FULL responsibility for uncovering this little gem because, for all the times I’ve driven past it, I’ve never stopped for a visit until this past weekend when I ran into a pack of fellow Unilocalers unexpectedly.
Since we were just down the street from Pig’s Meow, we decided to swing by for a visit. Actually, we had to kill some time between making that decision and the visit itself, since Pig’s Meow opens at 3:00p and it was still only about 2:00p at the time. So after walking around a bit and grabbing a quick drink elsewhere, we were ready to explore The Pig’s Meow.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
First of all, the name makes no sense. (So naturally — you love it.) Walking through the front door, you’re met with a dimly lit galley space that appears rather small. The walls all around you, however, are exploding with color. Every wall is a chalkboard and, to your right, you can find an extensive handwritten menu. Extensive enough that it takes some deciphering.
Immediately upon entering, you’re greeted by Emily who, as it happens, is one of the owners. She’s young and bright and helpful, eager to assist you in your decoding of the menu and happy to take your order. Looking to your left, you notice that the wall over there has been mostly covered in customer art but also hosts a food menu.
Since you haven’t eaten all day, you order one of their several grilled cheese options and a beer. (Emily helps you make the best choice of each.) One of your Unilocal friends, Ashley S., is a real baller, so she’s been here before. While you wait for your order, she shows you an element to this building you’d have likely missed had you gotten stuck merely seated at the bar.
THE «SECRET» ROOM
Moving back toward what would be the immediate left of the entrance, she shows you through a «doorway» — literally a hole cut into the wall without door or hinges. Stepping through, you enter an entirely different room, utterly devoid of light with the exception of occasional orange Edison bulbs hung sporadically from vintage cables.
The room is filled with gamer oddities from the 90’s. Super Mario and Duck Hunt await players before a cluster of easy chairs. Board games and cards litter tall tables surrounded by stools. A large part of the floor space is taken up by what I immediately dub «Bowling Pool», although I’ve never seen an oversized pool table like this before in my life.
You’ve got other aged arcade elements, too — everything from a basketball arcade game to a vintage PAC-​MAN table to darts. Again, the walls are chalkboard and covered in guest «art» — some of it thoughtful, some of it hilarious, some of it obscene. (So naturally — you love it.) When your order is called, you retreat back to the main room to gather it.
THE FOOD & DRINK
Speaking of the main room, it should be stated that the primary seating is set up around old-​skool gaming systems (SEGA and Nintendo) and the tables are littered with game options. It’s not too long before most of these tables are taken up by thirsty visitors with controllers in hand and eyes glued to small tv’s.
The beer Emily recommended to you is tasty — a good choice. The grilled cheese sandwich comes out hot on a paper plate and a bed of barbecue potato chips. You know from the first bite that this ensemble will hit the spot. Mere minutes late, the plate is completely empty and you’re thinking, «5 Stars. This is a 5-​star spot for SURE.»
Taking your empty glass back up front, you talk with Emily a bit, who is personable and happy to get to know more about you. You notice — thanks to the descriptive chalkboard menu — that The Pig’s Meow has branded shirts for sale. Emily shows you what they look like, and you purchase one for a measly $ 12. It feels like a steal.
CONCLUSION
Leaving before the vortex of drink options pulls you back in for more, you step out into the blinding Arizona daylight with squinty eyes and a definite pep to your step. «This place is awesome. Unlike anywhere I’ve ever been before,» you think to yourself as your feet take your body back to your waiting car.
If you have yet to visit The Pig’s Meow, it’s well worth a visit. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that you’re sorely missing out on a truly memorable experience if you haven’t yet made the time. I’d even go one further: next time you’re feeling thirsty for a good drink, hit ME up and I’ll go kick it WITH you. This place is a blast. A blast from the past. You won’t be disappointed.

THEY HAVE FOUR DIFFERENT KINDS OF SOAP IN THE BATHROOM
Sorry. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I’m gonna do my best to keep this short and to the point:
They had a band there when i went in. They were very good. They have a nice selection of beers on tap (however only three stouts at the time i went in). This place has 80’s/90’s kid all over it. Or even just a college vibe in general. I can play Nintendo, eat grilled cheese and drink good beer all in the same place. What more can you want?
They could stand to expand the size of their bar. It felt a little cluttered. But it didn’t change how I feel about this bar as a whole.

–Many delicious options for beer and wine with a few hard cider selections.
–The crowd was varied and enthusiastic; there seemed to be quite a buzz about this place.
–Bartenders were prompt and friendly.

A local brewing company recently released a beer that I really wanted to try, but was out of town when it came out. A few bars had it, including The Pig’s Meow. I reached out via Facebook seeing if they still had it on tap when I returned to town. Sadly, it was gone, but they said they would message me if and when it was on tap again. A week or so later I got a message saying it was back on tap. We went in, the beer was in fact on tap, it was delicious, too. We had a grilled cheese, served with a side of chips for only $ 5, and a flight of beers. I ordered another full pour of the beer that inspired the visit. During my visit I met Tyler, and became quick friends. The vibe is great, the beers are mostly local and the price is right. I wish I lived closer! It was my first, but won’t be my last visit to The Pig’s Meow. Cheers!

If you love an awesome beer selection on draft and Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo (the orig) — this is your place. It’s our neighborhood bar and we can’t believe our luck!

I should have reviewed this ages ago because I have been here more times than I can count in the year that they’ve been open. I used to only lurk on Unilocal,I’m branching out. Yay me!
This is probably my favorite spot for drinks in all of Phoenix. All the owners are awesome and somehow know what I want to drink even before I do on occasion. By far, the best draft list in town, tons of varieties in bottles and cans. Looking at the list nearly makes my eyes hurt it’s so big… In a good way, sometimes size matters. ;)
I can basically be a big kid here, which is apparently what I’m looking for in a watering hole. I can eat grilled cheese like it’s going out of style, try 3 IPAs I’ve never even heard of and dominate at a game of battleship.

Wonderful selection of beers and old game systems! Lots of board games too! Excited for the grilled cheese! They also have grilled PB&J… Childhood favorites for sure. This place is fantastic!!!

I. AM. A. FAN. It’s small but in a big way. It was hump day happy hour and my gal pals were meeting up for drinks. I was nervous about the sitting arrangements because we were a group of eight and they don’t take reservation. But to my surprise, we all were able to sit comfortably enough around the small table. There was no elbowing, bumping or having to scoot around even as other patrons came and went. It never felt crowded or obnoxiously loud. As the evening faded into night, our conversation remained cozy, the music was a never-​ending stream of good vibrations, and our bartender, Emily, was on point. MUST. GO. BACK.

Fantastic Beer & Wine joint. Scores of bottle & drafts to check out. Super-​friendly folks (read: Emily) taking care of your beers drinking needs.
The other reason to come here: H eaps of table/​board games (Yahtzee, Boggle, etc), one wall is a giant chalkboard to play Pictionary or satisfy your inner Van Gogh. They have vintage Atari & Sega game consoles up and running for you to play.

So much FUN. First time here and wow!, I’ll be back. Playing games was never this fun as kids. I love it more as a grown up!

Enjoy a delicious unique grilled cheese. If the kitchen is closed head to Bosa donut for a late night snack.

This place is literally a blast from the past! Their wrap around bar is loaded with games like Battleship, Jenga, Skip-​Bo, Go Fish, Pictionary and so many more! The perimeter of the bar has a few TV screens hooked up to Super Nintendo & SEGA. I literally felt like I was back in the 90s!
Their extensive beer & wine list is fantastic and written all across their chalkboard wall. I also ordered a glass of Blanc de Bleu Cuvée Mousseux {blue sparkling wine} because it looked pretty! I don’t recommend planning on dinner there, but their $ 5 grilled cheese sandwiches do make a great midnight snack! {…just like the sleepover days!} The bartenders make them on a panini press right there near the bar and throw some Lay’s potato chips on the side.

Such a fun idea for a bar. Low-​key, casual, and a great wine/​beer selection. Our party of four quickly found a table on a busy Saturday night. We proceeded to play trivia, dominoes, and sip malbec. The service we received was excellent. Our guy was personable, quick with the drinks and knew his stuff. Will be back to this Arcadia strip mall gem.
side note: the proximity to Bosa Donuts is a major win.

This bar is very cool! It has a giant chalkboard wall which shows the menu and old school gaming systems (Nintendo, Atari, etc.) hooked up to the tables. There are also many board games that you can find scattered about the place. The happy hour is also really sweet: $ 3 off drafts and $ 2 off wine until 8pm. The bartenders are friendly and attentive too. I didn’t try any of the food here but spied a few grilled cheese sandwiches and they looked quite tasty. I will definitely come back here when I am inPhoenix again!

So I just moved back to the Arcadia area from the ho-​hum offerings of the suburbs and this place is like a breath of fresh air! I love everything about it — from the décor and layout with the huge bar right in the middle of the room to the throwback games to the happy hour pricing and awesome beer and wine selections. The staff is amazing, very attentive, fast, and I love paying on an iPad and never having the card leave your sight.
I cant recommend this place enough — I’ve told all my beer friends, and even had a few of my wino girlfriends join me here and we all love it. Oh and the grilled cheese options are a GREAT snack, fresh ingredients and fast!

Great place to grab a craft beer. They have a large selection from many different breweries and various styles. I can’t wait to try a grilled cheese sandwich one of these days.

Just like their counterpart, this places rules except this place is bigger. much bigger and that is fantastic!
Great beer and wine selection with excellent happy hour deals. Games all over the place and a wrap around bar that is fun to sit. But the best part of this place? The grilled cheese. Oh MY with those grilled cheeses. You can get your standard grilled cheese, but you can also veer towards the fancy pants sammiches. I highly recommend the one with the fig. We also got the Italian based grilled cheese with salami, and it had a spicy kick to it.

We tried a total of 6 beers (Left Hand Juju Ginger Pale Ale (verrrrry gingery), Uncle Bears Golden Honey (tasted a bit flat), Konig Ludwig Hefeweizen (very tasty!), Wet Snout Milk Stout (YUMTASTIC!) and Port Brewing «Board Meeting» Brown (the stars of the evening).
The only truly disappointing one was the Rocky Mountain Wild Pineapple Cider. I could tell it wasn’t right after I took a few sips, but didn’t expect it to so violently attack and sour my stomach. Oh well, I’d still go back, but next time I’ll trust my gut… and try a grilled cheese sandwich.

It’s a crowded place with a great atmosphere. There are throwback game consoles on the walls were patrons can play Nintendo games from the eighties (?). Check it out and see if you’ve got the skill to record a high score

Came here on a whim with some friends on a Saturday night. The place was packing with patrons! First things I noticed; of course the old video game consoles, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis, and Atari! This really brings back the memories for me, but we’re not here to do that for now.
I sat at the bar and realized menu was on the East side of the wall; which was overwhelming, but like the name very interesting. I went for an Amber to play it on the safe side and also ordered their well known grilled cheese sandwich. Made to order, the sandwich came really quickly. With nice grill marks and plated like a antipasto platter, this grilled cheese sandwich looked special. Needless to say, it was a special sandwich; grilled to perfection with white cheese, pepperoni, capicolla, Siracha, and cherry peppers, this sandwich had some pop. However, like everything else in this bar it was unique and interesting. As far as the food; okay cool, the games, okay cool, the drinks, okay cool. Would I make this a must go place? Maybe just once to check it out!
Overall, service was really attentive and friendly. Food is cool to try and drinks are like said earlier, cool. — Enjoy!
