Established in 1968.

Since 1968, Sheffield Recordings Ltd has been providing high quality audio and video production services. Today, our facility has grown to about 20,000 sq. ft. boasting world-​class audio and video facilities.

In 1995, The Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts (SIRA), a video and audio production school opened its doors, providing vocational instruction and hands-​on training to aspiring students of audio, video, broadcasting and system integration.

John opened Sheffield Recordings Ltd in 1968 with the mission to provide high quality media production services to the public. Today the facility has grown to 20,000+ sq. ft. and houses our world-​class audio and video facilities, as well as The Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts.

Without attending Sheffield I would not be able to achieve my musical aspirations because before attending I knew absolutely nothing about recording. The instructors gave me not only knowledge but the encourage to pursue the life in pro audio & music. By interning, as an audio engineering assistant, I was granted opportunities that I would not have found on my own. As a production crew member at the inaugural Maryland Music Awards I was given priceless advice from a pro audio engineer (from LA) that I have passed on with my bandmates & colleagues. There really is no price tag on success and thanks to Sheffield I am well on my way.

The staff and teachers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I had a great time learning about the industry and all of the technology behind it. However, the job market is so scarce in these fields, I’m not sure this was worth the money. The jobs they post for you afterwards are either in another state or require previous experience that you don’t have! If you truly love this industry, you might as well simply join your local IATSE crew for free!
