Tree Pros

Just another update on how GREAT Tree Pros is. We have contracted with them to take care of the 67 trees on our campus. While chatting, I asked about purchasing a new tree… a memory, for a student we had lost in Aug to a brain tumor. She wanted something colorful that would bloom flowers. They suggest a plum tree. We had to wait for cooler weather, but on the day of the memorial service with all the kids from the school and the family of the child lost, they were there to take care of everything.
Daniel Olivare was the crew manager for the install. The crew, understanding the gravity of the situation, was so respectful, quiet, thoughtful, let us film, and stayed for the memorial service. Not only did the company provide a plaque for the tree sharing Taylor’s life on earth, TREE PRO’s DONATED the tree. This is a BIG tree that would have cost us over $ 1000 for the tree, a prior stump removal and installation. Now, that’s a company with a BIG heart. We had done a fund raiser for the tree and for the family. The family was able to receive all we raised because of Tree Pro’s generosity. AND, the tree is just BEAUTIFUL… a remembrance of this child for generations to come. (We will never forget you, Taylor Kij)

I did a re-​vamp of the back yard by getting old trees and bushes ripped out, and then putting in new irrigation, plants, and trees.
The removal went smoothly. The trees and bushes were chopped out and the stumps ground out. It was a very clean job with no debris left in my yard.
The new irrigation, plants, and trees are all doing well and look very lovely. Only one plant has died in these past 4 months and it had already looked a little sad going in the ground (it was within the 90 day warranty so it was replaced with a new plant). And it all got finished in just two days!
The issue I had with them is communication, I felt like every time I talked to them I was playing a game of telephone. There are the office folks, then the arborists, then the project manager, then the assistant project manager, and then the workers. All have a different understanding of what the job is suppose to be and all make different promises. I had to supervise the whole installation process as no one knew what they were suppose to do when they arrived and what I had paid for. The arborist only there the first day for a couple of hours despite promising to be there for the whole time. They didn’t know where the irrigation lines were suppose to be run or how many zones or where each zone would be. They dug holes to place the plants in and good thing I looked before they planted cause some of the locations were aesthetically bad and others directly on top of the pipes to my pool, like literally the bottom of the hole was just pipe, no dirt. They also decided to mess with the front yard irrigation (I never wanted anything done in the front) and broke it which became an issue as the form I signed said nothing about doing anything in the front (as they weren’t suppose to do anything there) so they were very reluctant to fix it. I had to call multiple times and argue with several people about it.

We met Tree Pro’s at this year’s Home Show. We bought into their pitch… and bought $ 7,000.00 worth of product. All went well… until an issue was discovered that Tree Pro’s acknowledges was their fault and their responsibility.
We have been attempting to coordinate Tree Pro’s and our turf company to determine what needs to be done to fix Tree Pro’s error. It’s been five weeks since we started this exercise.
Yesterday, my wife called Nathan… who is supposed to be a Manager… and he PROMISED that he would handle it today.
As night descends… we have gotten no word from Tree Pro’s as to what happened.
I plan to update this review every day… and keep all potential clients advised how they handle this lingering issue.

TreePros did an excellent job of trimming my 4 very large mesquites, 1 palo verde, and 4 medium-​sized acacias. All these trees had never been properly trimmed in 15+ years. The crew arrived on time, worked like crazy for hours, and cleaned every thing up afterwards. My brother-​in-​law was here the whole time and he went on and on about what a great job TreePros did.
I got an estimate from another company that was almost 3 times what TreePros charged me.
I would definitely recommend TreePros.

I would definitely use this company again as they care about their customers. They run their business the way a business should be run and are respectful to your needs. I really appreciate that they have highly knowledgeable and professional arborists on staff that know what they’re doing and talking about. It’s nice to see these days that people still care about customer service and acknowledge it’s importance.

We needed a tree taken down and these guys not only gave us a great price but did an outstanding job cleaning up the mess. We would use them again if we ever had to remove another tree. They made sure every last bit of the tree was gone, they had to come back the next day to finish up asit got dark before they got done.

On-​time crew. Generally professional all-​around. Disappointing work for the price. Aggressive quoting of costly (and questionably necessary) add-​on services.
A couple of our trees — both ~20ft tall) needed some fairly significant trimming back. Called and set up an estimate. Their arborist came out on time a few days later and provided an estimate for trimming and told us one tree had some kind of insect issue and both needed soil treatment — the latter of which I found surprising given how healthy-​looking and rapidly growing the trees have been for many years.
When I saw the actual estimate on paper, I noticed almost third of the cost were for these add-​on treatments (soil and insects), so I called to ask a couple of questions. I did not get much of answer, but did get an aggressive/​impatient pitch to schedule an appointment for the work and put a deposit down. I told them I need to shop around a bit.
So, after having a couple other outfits out (neither of which mentioned anything about an insect issue or needing any kind of soil treatment), I compared notes. TreePros trimming estimate was on the high-​end, but not out of line. Confused on who to trust, I split the difference and had one outfit do one tree and Treepros do another.
I called to schedule and was told I’d get a call back in a couple days. Indeed, in a couple days, a scheduler called to setup the appointment (50% deposit required).
So, I scheduled the work, did the credit card deposit, and told the scheduler that we pay the remainder in cash to the crew.
The crew showed up on time and performed work on the correct tree. I was not home and my wife was not able to really communicate with the crew (she doesn’t speak Spanish), so I’m not sure if instructions were clear (or conveyed as the quote just said «trim»).
Anyway, the crew completed and left. When I got home and looked, I honestly couldn’t really tell if any actually trimming had been done. The crown looked thick and full just as before and reached just as broadly. There might have been some internal pruning to clear weak/​dead branches out, but at least one was left sagging with brown needles hanging low over the neighbor’s fence. Disappointing for the price for sure.
The same day, the scheduler calls to ask if I wanted to charge the remainder of the work on the same credit card. We had paid in cash just 2hrs before, and it was actually the same scheduler that I had told that we would pay in cash — I know this because when I explained, I got «oh yeah, you were the ones that were going to pay in cash… they haven’t updated it in the system yet…».
In general, it was a disappointing experience. I share responsibility in that I wasn’t present on the work day to provide real-​time input (figured the original requests would have been conveyed).
I won’t likely be using TreePros next time. Your mileage may vary.
BTW — The other tree? I had it done by my regular lawn service (independent — not an arborist), and it actually came out quite nicely — though I get that it was potentially risky to the tree’s health, but it has been a few weeks without issue.

Called and spoke with someone at Tree Pros. They said the person I needed to speak with was on lunch and would call me back in about an hour. Received a call back two days later. Issue was dealt with, crew sent out to re dig the stump hole.

I had a 30′ Mexican fan palm tree in my back and I was forever fighting «volunteers» which resulted from the seed pods that sprout on the tree and are a constant cleanup mess as they blow around all over the place. I called several places for an estimate to have it taken down but due to the inability to get any of them to respond on a timely basis, I was getting discouraged.
I called Treepros and from my first telephone call was treated like they wanted the business. Alex came out and gave me an acceptable bid to take the tree down and two days later it was down and gone. The crew (four guys) who did the job, were friendly and completely accommodating. They cleaned up after the deed was done and you’d never know they had been here now. Thanks guys!

We recently moved into a formerly lived-​in house in Goodyear. We inherited a few trees and cacti. The palm out front needed a few dead fronds trimmed, and I wanted a prognosis for my struggling mesquite out back. A certified arborist from Tree Pros came to my house to give a free estimate. He assessed my tree problems, educated me on some things, and recommended the removal of the mesquite in the backyard. He indicated that taking the tree down was less expensive than trying to save it. (I learned later that Tree Pros is known for recommending tree removal because they sell the wood afterwards). Unfortunately, Tree Pros supposedly requires a guaranteed minimum of $ 350 in work to make the trip to Goodyear. I didn’t know that, and nobody from Tree Pros told me that when they scheduled the estimate appointment. Nor did the arborist mention the $ 350 minimum until he was almost ready to leave. Of course, the palm trim alone doesn’t add up to $ 350. So, he also suggested that I have Tree Pros remove the mesquite, buy a new tree from them, and pay them to plant it with some fancy box around it. He also told me that my «priority» should be purchasing an irrigation system from Tree Pros. Of course, the irrigation system costs about $ 3000. I have THREE trees. Why do I need a $ 3000 irrigation unit for a palm, two mesquites and a few cacti? I’m fine with self-​watering using the hose. The arborist did take his time and did answer my questions. But it felt like more of a sales pitch than anything else.

Andrew from tree pros was so great to work with. I had a 50 ft eucalyptus in my backyard that was mostly dead and needed to be removed. I filled out online quote request forms from four different companies offering tree removal. I got a call back a day later from Tree Pros and Andrew was able to come give me a quote right then. I never even heard back from the other companies. I finally got two other tree removal companies to come give me quotes and Tree Pros was cheaper by nearly $ 300.
The Tree Pros crew came out today to remove the tree. The power lines to our house needed to be disconnected because of course the tree was leaning over them. Tree Pros coordinated with SRP. Both crews showed up, worked together and had the power back on to my house in less than 30 minutes. The whole job including hauling away the tree and cleaning up the mess took about an hour. I can’t believe how quickly they were able to complete the job. I will definitely be using them again.

I have 6 mesquite trees, 3 are huge, all are in need of serious trimming and attention. I was very concerned about the health of these trees as well, I love them like they’re my children. I called for an estimate, Oscar came out to assess they’re condition. We agreed on an acceptable course of action and price. The next day a 3 man crew came out (on time), within 2 ½ hours my beloved trees looked fantastic! My entire property looks wonderful, they cleaned up everything. From my initial call through the completion of the project everything was handled totally professional. Everyone treated me with great customer service start to finish, which means a great deal to me. I would recommend them to everyone. Thank You Tree Pros!

We have two HUGE eucalyptus trees in our yard as well as some very large oleanders. Out of the 4 quotes received Tree Pros were very competitive (not lowest… but close). They did an excellent job on everything. That said, I had a few issues that i called on. They immediately came back out and fixed any issues i had. All in all these guys are great.

I was in major need of having a couple of palm trees on my property trimmed.
I contacted Tree Pros about three weeks ago after doing some research. A lot of landscaping and tree trimming people come to my door and leave me a business card, but when I try to look them up none of them have their own websites or are accredited.
So I reached out to this place after finding them online. I think I’ve heard radio spots for them too.
I heard back from them the same day and they said they would come out to do a free estimate.
That person came out about a few days later. I got a quote of $ 160.
I’m sure it could have been cheaper from one of those other unlicensed places, but I didn’t want to risk them doing a crappy job.
I told them to proceed with an appointment. They came out about a week and a half later to do the job.
They arrived this morning and I met with the crew very briefly.
They were out there for about 40 minutes and they did a spectacular job.
Our palm trees were out of hand. They cleaned it up really nicely and cleaned up after themselves.
I’d definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future.

I called for an estimate. They came out and left an estimate on my door. They said for $ 150 they would deep root fertilize. I never had a chance to speak with the arborist directly, but the diagnosis didn’t sound right.
Anyhow, one of the employees followed up the next week to see if I wanted to go ahead with the service. When I asked what exactly the deep root fertilization service was and why they thought that would cure the huge branches that were dying, we got disconnected. I think the disconnect was legitimately a dropped call, but the guy never called back. He then called back 2 days later and I said, «When we were disconnected, why didn’t you call back?». He said, «I thought you were annoyed and hung up on me.» I said, «That wasn’t the case at all, but if that were the case, why would you call me again?».
So, as you might have gathered, I didn’t feel comfortable going with their diagnosis. I ended up pruning back my dead branches myself and found that my tree is actually suffering from sooty canker fungus and powdery mildew. It’s actually pretty easy to see just by looking at the tree, but I didn’t know what I was looking at until I did some extensive research.
My final synopsis. I don’t think these guys know what they are doing. Their diagnosis was incorrect and if I would have paid $ 150 for the recommended treatment it wouldn’t have helped a damn bit. Unfortunately, you have to cut out the infected branches, so I will either have a tree trunk with few branches or the most common recommendation for this condition is tree removal. Sad, huh.
I definitely will not be calling this company again. Too bad, because I have 11 trees in my backyard as well.

I decided to use Tree Pros for my Canary Island Date Palm removal because they had the best overall price for both cutting the tree down and grinding the stump after I haggled with them a bit to get the price down. I have no complaints about the actual tree removal and stump grinding except for the fact that they put a few small dents in my garage door when grinding the stump, but the idiots who owned my house before me put gravel in the palm tree planter. My fiancé said that they had a little hockey net-​looking thing to catch the flying debris, but it had some holes in it and some of the gravel ended up getting through and denting the garage door. I think they did the best they could given the situation, though, and they even ground the stump down below where they said they were going to.
My biggest problem with Tree Pros lies with their office staff. They are extremely disorganized and their customer service is horrible. I received better customer service from the arborists than the receptionists, and as a former receptionist myself, I find that unacceptable. I offered to be flexible with scheduling due to the discount they gave me, and then they didn’t even show up on the agreed upon day. I called the office an hour after the end of the window of time during which the crew was supposed to come to cut down my tree. One of the receptionists scrambled for an excuse and ended up having to call me back after getting an explanation. Their truck was supposedly pulled over for emissions testing or something and that put them behind schedule by several hours, causing my appointment to be bumped back two days. The receptionist really should have called to tell me that my appointment was going to be rescheduled due to unpreventable circumstances. The fact that I had to call them to find out what was going on after they didn’t show up at my house to complete the work is ridiculous. I also never felt like the receptionist was listening to me when I was talking to him on the phone. I spelled my last name for him at least three times and he still managed to get it wrong and lied to me that he had it spelled correctly. The female receptionist ended up having to correct his mistake later. Additionally, someone charged my credit card for the non-​refundable $ 75 deposit twice and then had to refund one of the charges. Dealing with their office staff was a nightmare, and I was often left wondering if the work was going to be completed at all. If it wasn’t for Daniel and Jose, I wouldn’t have done business with Tree Pros. They seriously need to re-​evaluate their office staff.

the worst! I called to schedule an appointment for tree trimming but was told they require an estimate first… waste of my time, but ok. Appointment was scheduled for Saturday morning, nobody came. The office claims to have no record of my appointment and scheduled an appointment for Monday afternoon. Andy arrived after his 2 hour window had passed, and 5 minutes later we were in a heated verbal discussion and I asked him to leave.

I chose to hire Tree Pros because they had so many positive reviews on Kudzu. The few negative reviews they were given all had professional responses.
Someone came to our house before the work was completed to look at our Mesquite tree and talk with us about how it could be improved. The tree had been grossly mis-​cared for when we purchased our house and was in dire need of trimming/​restructuring. We were quoted a reasonable price, not cheap, but fair enough considering the current state of the tree.
After seeing the tree after the service was completed, I am absolutely convinced that the investment was a good one. The tree looks healthier, taller, and is no longer an obstruction to the sidewalk or our house.
I appreciate the fast, friendly and knowledgeable service they provided and will most assuredly work with them in the future.

Found this company at the Tempe Arts and Crafts Fair. Checked them out with BBB and they seem like a solid company. Called them up and they came out and gave me a bid which seemed reasonable.
These guys came out on time and took down this overgrown Palo Verde tree that was leaning against out concrete wall.
The next day, another crew came out and pulverized the stump and roots. You can’t even tell there was a huge tree there. My wife and I planted some queen palms in its place.

The recession has obviously hit Tree Pro’s. But instead of trying to retain its customers, Tree Pro’s has raised its price more than 25% since last Fall. And if that’s not enough, they have tossed customer service out the window, too. They did not show up for the estimate the day they were scheduled. And even after they did do the estimate, when my husband so foolishly agreed to this figure, they never called back to schedule the trimming. I can get Tree Amateur’s for this level of service.
