University of Phoenix

This school is a joke, simply an overpriced diploma mill. Not only do ALL the employees you deal with seam to work there, but they remove comments from their Facebook page that happen to be in a «negative» light in their perspectives. I have attended this school and «earned» my associates degree for over 50,000.00, my wife included at 100,000.00 approx in student loan debt. The quality of education at this facility is sub-​par at best. It is sad that they will only respond to comments on their Facebook page that are not as threatening. I for one have told the truth of this diploma mill and have been muted from posting any more comments. Is this coincidence? I think not. I will not stop posting on social media sites the plenty until my student loans are forgiven or else I will seek legal counsel as I feel I have been blindsided by a school that does not deliver. I cannot even use this degree as all employers who come in contact simply dismiss the degree from this school due to its unworthiness. Why would university of Phoenix remove my post from Facebook if they were honest and on the up and up. Do NOT fall for the scam that is university of Phoenix! I will continue to write these post on a daily basis until my situation is made right on many social media sites to inform and warn everyone of this scam. Funny how they remove negative post from their social media sites, hmmmmmm???

I entered the University of Phoenix in 2009 for a teaching credential. Worst move I could have made. I finished the program in 2012, but with much regret I discovered that the school did not transfer the knowledge nor the skills needed for this career. It is now 2016, and I am still working on passing the TPA-​4 and RICA. I am teaching myself through research on the internet and working as a substitute. If you are not sure about this school, attend one of their classes and see how ineffective their instructors are. Do not commit, unless you already know what you need to know and are only jumping through hoops to get a certificate.

I got my MBA from UoP. It is the exact same education as a large majority of MBA programs country wide. They are fully accredited as a result. The work you do is challenging & engaging, the challenges you face are unique and fun (collaborating over long distances is one). This program taught me many skills, both in business and in networking across long distances. I DO recommend UoP to anyone who can afford to go. I had the option to go to a local University or go to UoP.
It is different but that is what makes it great. I am happy with my education. The people who fail at this school are typically undisciplined and cannot undergo independent study (aka hold themselves accountable to do what is necessary). If you are self-​motivated and are willing to dig deep and not have someone hold your hand through your education, go to UoP.

Worst ever, please research UOP before you waste your money. Just google university of Phoenix trouble and read. The military has put them out of any recruiting, they have lost more then half there students, they have closed 115 campuses, their stocks have dropped to record lows… People do not use this school!

Wow assignments are due tonight 11:59 pm mid western time. All systems are down and i am unable to submit assignments for finals week. I called technical support and have been on hold for about 30 minutes than someone picks up the phone and hangs up on me. It seems the technical difficulties are happening more often. Such a big disappointment. I understand that they may be working to fix the issue but at least have the audacity to comfort your students/​customers that you are working on the situation instead of hanging up the phone on us. Someone just picked up again and hung up on me, wow.

The problems that ive had with uopx are never ending. They are always having some sort of outage that affects your work and then they blame you for missing things. Teachers are not attentive and do not give a quality education. Dont let the convenience fool you you will spend so much time dealing with crap.

I have to drop my rating as a warning to others. While the education you receive at UoP is relatively the same as you would get anywhere else, it is not as valuable. After several scandals involving UoP and it’s parent company, the Apollo Education Group, I made the decision to transfer over to a local private university.
The cost of a UoP education is quite high. I feel like I was deceived about the cost of my education.
The main problem is that a UoP education holds no value to prospective employers. That’s a shame, because it is not a «degree mill». People really do have to work hard for their degrees. The Apollo Education Group has done almost nothing to address allegations against it in scandal after scandal. Even worse, it has done nothing to publicly distance these allegations from the educational side of the business. The UoP has a tarnished reputation. Unfortunately, all too many hiring managers aren’t willing to do the research to understand what the underlying problems are with the UoP. Instead, they rely on a blanket policy to poopoo any resumes that mention UoP.
For those reasons, I chose to move on. I would highly suggest anyone considering UoP to do their due diligence before committing to any program at UoP.

Though Im happy with the ability to take classes online considering my busy schedule I would never, ever recommend this University to ANYONE.
My tuition was raised 2 times in 2 years going from an estimated 24k in debt to now 30k in debt, not including the 7k that will be due in interest on top of that.
Additionally, the faculty hounded me forcing me to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket on top of what I owe while still in school or threatening to not provide me with a diploma… I felt completely taken advantage of and held hostage the entire last year and a half of being in school here…
I am devastated. I am 2 ½ weeks away from graduating and they are now hounding me once again for money, otherwise they will not give me my diploma…
I will do whatever it takes to fight this… I don’t know how to lower my tuition given their insane increases… I wish I would have done more research before attending this atrocious school. On top of all this the teachers… some of them made a lot of spelling errors and obviously didn’t care about challenging their students, giving away easy A’s with very little attention to detail, while others over challenged their students and made it almost impossible to get an A.
Overall, Im so grateful this experience will be over soon… I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Classes for UofP require you to complete group assignments. Last class my group didn’t exist and I was forced to do all of the work myself to get full credit.
This last class I took my group was there and helped, but 2 out of 4 assignments they submitted were not in the right format, and we were given a grade of zero. Yes if you do the entire assignment, but don’t put it in the right format you lose 100% credit. So as of now, through little to no fault of my own, I am starting at a maximum potential score of 80 in a class about business management. I currently work as a sales manager and know all of this off the top of my head.
I found this to be extremely demanding and focused on amount of activity rather than quality of participation. Also the focus on group projects when one person is in Boston, another is in Nashville, another in San Fran, and a 4^th in Alabama is completely illogical.
I strongly urge you to find a different school to look into.

The statistics course I took online was the epitome of teaching to the test. You just «pay your fee and get your B.» The course videos appeared so outdated that I am positive they must have been filmed long before I was ever born. I really did not learn a thing. I have experienced much better quality in online classes through state schools.

If you want a diploma, this is the place to be. If you want a great quality education, a career, and a life-​time fulfillment, look elsewhere!

I’ve had nothing but a positive experience at this school. I am reviewing the institution based solely on the value of the education and faculty. It seems a lot of the 1 star reviews are from people that had either an issue with financial aid, or their counselors. You’re going to find that at EVERY institution. That being said, UOP is the 3^rd institution of higher learning I have attended. This was by far, the most convenient and helpful of them all. I have had no issues finding employment, but I base that mostly on my ability to sell myself. Remember, the degree gets you an interview, it’s up to you to seal the deal.

On July 14, 2015 I called the University of Phoenix. I did recommendation of the Rhode Island Department of Education. I am working towards my certification for special education and currently only have one more class that I need to take. The Rhode Island Department of Education recommended that I take this course at the University of Phoenix on line. The thinking behind this recommendation was that since I was recently laid off I could complete the course work as quickly as possible. This would make me more marketable for teaching jobs. Keep in mind, that in the field of education, most jobs are available between the months of July and late September. I called the University of Phoenix and spoke with Connie Weiss Connie Weiss
602−387−6378. We did the necessary paperwork to enroll me in the course SPE512 Special Education Assessment and Interpretation. I was told that I was registered for the course and that class would begin on August 11, 2015. I gave them my credit card number for payment.
Later that week I received a call from Connie saying that the University might not allow me to take the course, because no school in the state of Rhode Island would accept credits from the University of Phoenix. I let Connie know that this was okay, because I already possessed a Masters degree and I was already certified by the state of Rhode Island to teach English. All I was trying to do was to meet the certification requirements for a special education license in the state of Rhode Island. In fact, I had it in writing from the Department of Education that they would accept this class from the University of Phoenix and apply it to my special education certificate requirements.
I was told that that was not good enough and that I would have to go through the appeal process. Connie promised to email me the necessary forms, they never arrived.
The conversation with Connie took place on a Friday afternoon. The next Monday I spoke with Brian Eastwood he told me that there were no forms I simply had to write a letter. That day I drafted the following letter and emailed it to Brian.
To whom it may concern:
I am writing to initiate the appeal process regarding my application to take a single course, SPE/​512– «Special Education Assessment and Interpretation» from the University of Phoenix. I currently possess a Rhode Island teacher’s certification, however, I lack a Rhode Island special education certification. In order to obtain a Rhode Island special education certificate I need this course. This is the only course I need. I will not be applying this course to a program. I understand that this course cannot be applied to a degree program in the state of Rhode Island. That does not matter; I simply need it to obtain state certification, not a degree.
The state of Rhode Island will accept the University of Phoenix’s SPE/​512 to satisfy Rhode Island’s requirement for assessment. In fact, Cameron Berube recommended this specific course, offered at the University of Phoenix, to me. Ms. Berube is the Educator Quality and Certification Specialist at Rhode Island’s Department of Education. To verify this I am forwarding you an email from her in which she says
«The course SPE512 Special Education Assessment and Interpretation from the University of Phoenix would fulfill the requirement of „Assessment of Students who have Mild/​Moderate Disabilities“ for the certificate area of Secondary Grades Special Education».
I spoke with Ms. Berube on the phone today. She reassured me, once again, that this course would meet these requirements. Furthermore, she informed me that I am being evaluated under the old system, which did accept credits from the University of Phoenix. She said that she is aware of this issue however; I am being «grandfathered in».
I understand that the University of Phoenix’s program is restricted in Rhode Island. I am submitting this letter of appeal to override this.
One of the things that made this class attractive to me is that I could meet this requirement within six weeks. It concerns me that the appeal process can take up to 3 to 5 weeks to process before I could be registered for this class. The classes scheduled to begin on August 11^th, 2015. I need to complete this as quickly as possible so I can obtain my special education certification and obtain employment. An unnecessary delay in this process would impede my job search and could cause me unnecessary career and financial damages.
I am looking forward to resolving this issue as quickly and effectively as possible.

This type of University are for working adults, if you are single and don’t have a full time job I recommend you go to a local University. I have been to a local University and attend this University and the only main difference is that its 5 weeks versus a typical semester of 12 – 14 weeks. That being said it is actually harder trying to read a lot of chapters in a small period of time while a regular semester you have more time to do so. I recommend the University of Phoenix if you are striving for a Bachelors degree but do not recommend it if you plan on getting your Masters or PHD from here. Typically you want to go to a better University and that is in a higher tier such as Michigan State and Villanova. Nowadays most employers require a Masters so a Bachelors degree at University of Phoenix is perfectly fine.

My Associate program was an absolute JOKE. I had so much trouble that I changed counselors multiple times, I had so many financial issues that and it was absolutely horrendous. I have been given the run around so many times I can not stand it.
So let me give you a little background about myself, I was working three jobs, living on my own, 19 years old, and attending the online program with Phoenix for my Associate degree. After spending an ARM, LEG, TORSO, AND SOUL I was able to get my Associate’s. YAY ME! I was so grateful that I was leaving the school.
I got accepted into Cal Baptist University in Riverside and I was so happy to be going there after my horrible experience with Phoenix. Three days before school started my new school calls me only to inform me that the University of Phoenix (SHIT TOWN) took a little over $ 5000 out of my financial aide in order to pay for my remaining classes. I called Phoenix several times requesting the funds, asking why they would take the money out of my aide WITHOUT my permission. They gave me the run around. I talked to SO MANY different douche bags and NO SURPRISE there was a different answer for EVERY SINGLE REP that I spoke with.
After losing my mind trying to go back and fourth with the idiots in the office, I was FED UP and ended up attending University of Phoenix AGAIN in order to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. I was told that I would be done with ALL of my classes in November SEVERAL times. AND THEN they changed my counselor NOT BY CHOICE. Now this lady is telling me I need five more classes plus an ADDITIONAL two credits after November!!!
Did I mention that I took out a loan that was a little over $ 8000 in order to have them completely paid off?
I should have taken out a loan for the $ 5000 to go to a good school rather than staying at this SHIT school. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me… THIS SCHOOL IS AWFUL PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!!! PLEASE DONT EVEN TRY TO GET A DOCTORATE FROM HERE BECAUSE IT IS NOT EVEN A PhD!!! ugh!!!

I signed up, I ignored the reviews, I thought maybe it was just people having bad experiences. Oh was I wrong… I was told the wrong Praxis, for the state I live in. Then told well, you didn’t meet the deadline so we are dropping you from the program. Wasting thousands in 12 credits… I have transferred to a better school, and working on finishing my Masters… This school is Horrible if your from NJ looking into this school don’t. I am a recent graduate from the University of Phoenix (UOPx). I obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting degree, class of 2014.
Prior to attending the university I had doubts, but the curriculum has proven to be thorough and efficient in comparison with traditional universities. I only wish the UOPx could build upon its prestige and alumni/​alumnus by rebranding. Reputation is key; it puts the power of social proof to work. The university has the curriculum to create strong leaders; however the marketing department and the universities mission must be restructured.

Before I attended University of Phoenix, I had attended several tech schools. They got me nowhere. So, I did a lot of research on schools before I started working on my degree. I found that University of Phoenix is a real school and issues real degrees. Also, while I was in school I discovered that I was actually taking the same classes and using the same books as my friends that were attending Cal State Long Beach.
In addition, I did not realize how much I did not know until I became educated. This school changed my life for the better. I went from working a dead-​end minimum wage job to working at my dream job. With each degree I went for my life got better.
The classes were challenging and the workload could be overwhelming at times. However, college is not meant to be easy. I found that if I set goals to get through each class one at a time, rather than looking at everything I had left to do, I was able to breeze through each class and complete each degree I attempted.
It was also very expensive. It was the price I had to pay for the convenience of going to school online. If I could have attended a traditional school and still work full-​time I would have. However, the money I am making now has made up for the student loan debt I have.
I am also on my way to becoming a doctor. I would have never thought that was possible before I started this journey.

Education is absolutely worthless. Curriculum is out of date and non-​relatable once out in the real world. I received my BSB back in 2011 and have had no increase in opportunity out in the workforce. I’m no incompetent, lazy person either. I work as a manager and regularly laugh about my education with other employees. I see the recruiting process through at my job, and I promise you that UOP degrees are looked down upon and laughed at. Is that what you want after working so hard? After the blood, sweat and tears that go into 4 years of hard work? No.
Do yourself a favor, go to a real school. There are so many more legitimate options that will not leave you devastated with student loans and will actually benefit you in the real world. If someone offered me 30k to pay off my student loans, with the stipulation my degree would be stripped, I would do it in a second… no questions asked.

What a waste of money. I attended for a few months, and while they do a great job of setting up a plan for your degree, the «education» is worthless.
You have class one night a week and meet with your group outside of that as needed. Good luck, every class is group work… EVERY class. Try getting people together for that. They tell you it’s to teach you to work in the real world with other adults. and while I do have collaborations with my coworkers while I’m at work, very rarely do I see them outside of that. Then you spend the final 2 classes of a 5 week class doing/​listening to group presentations, which is eight hours of listening to people say «Uh…uhm…» while reading off of something they printed from Google.
I had one teacher argue with me about a grade and another blatantly accuse me of plagiarism, with comments like «…where did you get THAT?!». Before you can submit any papers, they have to be run through the UofP plagiarism checker, and a third party site that they provide. The instructors use the same two sources. The material I submitted came back as a 0% match. Needless to say, I was insulted and realized that this school didn’t actually care about your education, just your tuition.
