Found this hidden little gem just from passing through. I have became a regular since. What can I say? Great food, great prices, and great service. I always get the pupusas revuelta and the yuka frita with fried chicharron… so good! Its always the little hole in the walls that are the best and authentic than high end overpriced restruaunts

Our favorite pupuseria just closed so we tried Carmen’s for the first time. We ordered 6 pupusas revueltas. The pupusas were made fresh, not overly greasy and had good flavor. However, I was very disappointed for two reasons; the pupusas were very expensive and extremely salty!!! I had to eat plátano maduro with every bite to balance out the saltiness. I will continue to search for a good pupuseria in the area.

I have gone to this little whole in the wall restaurant several times and I can’t complain about the pupusas. These are the only ones I have tried. However I regret my last two visits and have no intention of returning. This is so because: The Owner who is also the cook, server and cashier was very rude. On one occasion my 3yr old son tagged along with his own breakfast and I asked if it was ok as he does not like pupusas and she sarcastically replied it was ok but she was going to charge me. At first I was shocked by her sarcasm and unwelcoming comment and more shocked that she wouldn’t be more welcoming given the fact that I walked in with 6 other people when the place was empty. On another occasion I visited during the Wednesday specials and we ordered our pupusas. However when we were ready to leave she gave me the total verbally without showing me the check. When she told me the amount it was more than I had expected being the Wednesday special so I asked her to hand me the check. I then noticed that she charged me regular price for the pupusas and not the Wednesday Special. When I asked her about the price she rudely told me that it was my responsibility to let her know that I came for the special because she makes them«differently»…of course I questioned what that meant and she informed me that she makes them smaller and«differently» whatever she meant by that… I was in shock to say the least but decided to avoid an argument that I was clearly going to lose when this women felt it was justified to be sneaky and make me the customer look dumb as if I should have known how to order… This is not about the cost, this is about the way she runs the business and treats her customers. With this kind of customer service and power trip this women has I foresee that they will not be in business for long.

My 3rd time coming here. Always satisfied with the service and pupusas. :) The horchata could be a bit better. My dad loves the«sopa de pata» from this restaurant.

I had the pupusas(revuelta y queso con loroco) and they were fabulous… not greasy and full of flavor. I also ordered a tamale de pollo, but it wasn’t anything special. I felt it was a bit bland and could used more filling. For my sweet tooth I ordered empanadas… they were delicious. I’m used to them being rolled in sugar, but other than that the flavors were great. I will be back especially for the pupusa special.

These pupusas are delicious. I tried the chicharron & queso, which I highly recommend. It comes with a cabbage side and a red sauce. also tried the fried plantains, which come with crema and a black bean dip. These were good, both sweet and savory, but I would recommend them for sharing with more than one person!

Carmen Mexican Resturant has been one of my favorite resturant for many years but in the last three years the quality of the food has not been what it use to be. I had a carne asada which was over cooked, tough and tasteless and the salad was wilted, the only thing that was like carmens was the house salad dressing. In the last three visits it was disapointing. I thought maybe it was a fluke but it wasnt. My Family has been eatting there for over 40 years. Was so so disapointed. Bring back the Carmens it use to be with the unique high quality they use to have. Someone needs to let them know.

This charming, family owned restaurant serves delicious made-to-order specialities from El Salvador. The pupusas are a «must try» as other reviewers have mentioned, but dont forget to sample the delectable frijoles, fried bananas, fresh fruit drinks, dinner plates, Yuca frita con chicharron, and homemade desserts. Although the atmosphere is casual, the service could not be more gracious and the menu and ambiance are decidedly family friendly. All in all Its the perfect spot for a quick lunch or leisurely family dinner. Dont wait to give it a try! Special: mon wed fri pupusas $ 1.35

«Ricas Pupusas(??)» … I beg to differ! This is a family owned hole in the wall Salvadorian restaurant. I work near by so I thought I’d give it a whirl for lonche. No bueno. I’ve had more flavorful pupusas.(that’s all I tried, $ 2ea) &personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of their religious décor… The place is tiny and they push the lord on ya with alllll their«GODISLOVE» signs. No offence, it just made me feel like a sinner ]=o @least they have a grade«A». Good job!

It’s very well hidden but if you pay close attention you will see it. It is a very small place I think it only fits about 20 people at the most. They got a B from the health department, but that didn’t stop me. So I went and I made an order for pupusas I ordered one of loroco which is a plant they use with cheese, and of course a bean and cheese one. They were really good the pupusas were not greasy they were done right there and then by the owner who is this older lady. The curtido that they have was not bad the only down side is the sauce that they have is very bland I knew it had tomato because I could see traces of it and the color but it did not taste like anything. The loroco pupusas was delicious I was trying to figure out what kind of herb it was but I couldn’t all I know is that it makes the pupusa taste really good. I will definitely come back and visit specially since they have one that is rice. I’m not sure if they stuff it with rice or if the dough is made of rice. I’m intrigued. Besides pupusas they also have their other typical Salvadorean plates. Why come… –Mon. and Wed. Special $ 1.35 each pupusa –If you go on line keyword Carmen you can get the pupusas for $ 1.25 Mon and Wed only –Pupusas: chicharon(pork), mix, cheese and loroco, bean & cheese, and the rice one –prices are regularly $ 2 –CASHONLY –It’s really home made because you see them making the food and preparing everything for it.
