While I haven’t had the pleasure of stopping by the shop in person, I have been mail-ordering from them for years. They have a great on-line website that you can order through, but still maintain a landline to phone in your orders. I recommend that you do. They are extremely helpful and always cheerfully friendly. That is something very nice in this day and age. They sell anything and everything for your historical re-enacting and living history needs, pertaining to the 18th and 19th Centuries. Things you didn’t even realize you needed! Everything they sell is either made in-house by these folks, or made local to them. I like that, as well. Make sure you check out their amazing line of videos on YouTube, as well!

Townsend is essentially a clearinghouse of colonial and revolutionary era clothing and supplies. Townsend isn’t necessarily the best quality all of the time, but they have everything. There are specialty producers out there(see Flying Canoe and Barkertown) who make specific items better, but this is the place to go if you need a lot of colonial stuff at a reasonable price and relatively quickly.
