History

Established in 1972.

Leroy and Sue Maples built this motel in 1972 after owning and operating Pigeon River Court for several years in the 1960’s. A 7th generation Sevier Countian, Leroy was the first in his family to attend college (after army service in Korea) and taught school and coached basketball for 25 years. He also was a brickmason. He and Sue raised 3 kids who helped in the business they ran until 1995.

Jack Maples and his wife Robin own and operate it today. Jack’s brother Joe was co-owner until his death Aug. 31,2013. The third generation, Milly Maples Rosenberg and Jackson Maples will take over the business in the future.

Most of the employees have worked at the motel for many years.
