Lantana Resort

Went for a wedding and it was a lovely venue. I think it’s normally a spot for fishing, since there are competitions out on the lake. A lot of the reviews of this place is on point so I’ll just add a little extra.
The group rates for guests was affordable. It might say queen size rooms somewhere, but they were mostly upgraded to king size beds. The double rooms are a bit tight but I was neighbor to one that seemed bigger (slightly); if you need a little more room, make sure to ask about it. I inquired about a room facing the trees, but was advised that actually it was darker/​less sun and with more. critters (june bugs and such). So if you’re not used to that, ask for the other building. They weren’t in the rooms! But as soon as you step out of your door, crunch, killed a bug. They have coffee for guests on the weekends, but not the weekdays. Showers are a little low on pressure and the provided soap has a weird residue. Maybe bring your own toiletries. No fridge in the room, ice bags are sold in the lobby for $ 2. The horse trails were closed when we went. I’m thinking horse riding company departs from somewhere inside the state park now. We arrived late, and appreciated their late check in procedure. They have fishing poles, and some other activities at the front desk.
It looks like you can get married in the gazebo or out by the barn. Depending on the time of year/​day, you might get a lot of tiny bugs. Be prepared if you are hosting an event here. Our hosts provided fans which helped a bit during the reception but a little harder to contend with during the meal. (They ruined a couple of my drinks.)
During the reception the bartenders had a tip jar out which I think was tacky of them. I get that it had a cash bar (and charging to the room wasn’t an option), so lots of opportunities for nice tips but it just looked tacky to have a jar out. Maybe it’s regional and I’m not in touch with how things are done in north texas, but if you have out of town guests, something to talk to the venue about regarding the tip jars. I was caught off guard and didn’t bring enough bills.
Best place to stay in Pilot Point. It’s on a great state park and I wish I had more time to explore it. The historic square in town was also very nice.

Such a gorgeous place! Went for the weekend with my small group and we had an amazing time! Went horseback riding, fishing and enjoyed the beautiful views on the back porch! All the staff were so helpful and nice! We will definitely be back!

Stayed here this weekend with a group of girls and absolutely LOVED IT! it is such a beautiful area and a great getaway from Dallas. The sheets were so soft in the beds and the staff at lantana were all so nice. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful weekend getaway

We stayed over a weekend and enjoyed this resort. We stayed tree side so we could enjoy nature. This was about getting away from things, and enjoying nature. So while I see a couple of people wishing this place had a pool, but it is great without it.
Besides, with your stay you get a pass to go to Isle du Bois and can go to the beach fronts, and various swim areas over there.
There is a trail down to a pier, the boat ramp is just down the road. There are trails for walking, and there are horses brought in for rides.
Since we both work in tech fields, (and were on call) we were glad the place had Free Wifi. Although we did have to laugh over the TV being not much bigger than the laptop we brought, and smaller than the monitors we each use at our respective jobs.
Restaurants are in nearby towns. And there isn’t a store on the property for buying snacks or drinks. Hopefully they’ll soon add Microwaves and Fridges to all the rooms so you can bring your own snacks.
A wedding happened while we were there. It was quite beautiful and they really took care of the wedding party and setting everything up for them and making the occasion beautiful.
Can’t wait to go back…

We stayed during the Winter season, so it was extremely quiet. Assume there is more activity, groups, conferences, weddings, etc. during the Spring, Summer, Fall months. Rather than repeating some of the previous reviews, I’ll make it short and sweet with a few pros and cons.
Cons:
Small rooms, restaurant not open year around, limited activities, older «tubed» televisions with limited channels, no microwave in room, a little expensive for value of room
(Recommendation to Resort: Have lower Winter prices, or even a simple bed & breakfast promotion at the current price)
Pros:
Grounds and rooms very clean, friendly customer service, Texas/​mountain lodge theme, wildlife, nice forest/​lake view from Bldg 100, wireless Internet, quiet surroundings, hot water/​pressure, heat/​ac in rooms, excellent-​clean stables with professional horseback riding wranglers, Clark’s Outpost BBQ is only 10 minutes N. on Hwy 377 in Tioga, TX.
One word that describes this «resort» is potential. It has a lot of great offerings (pros above). But without a pool, no bike trails, restaurant not open all year and guest rooms too small for med-​lrg families, it will need to settle for a quiet couples-​getaway or small conference lodge for small-​med size groups. All in all, it’s a great place for couples or individuals just wanting to get away for some peace and quiet — or if you are having a large group conference or wedding. Other than horseback riding, boat fishing or hiking, there aren’t a lot of activities at this location. However, during the Spring and Summer, it’s only a 15 minute drive over to another part of Ray Roberts State Park (Isle du bois) for a day at the lake beachfront (one of the best in N. Texas).

The good and the bad:
First, the good. This 30-​room lodge is newish and attractive, beautifully landscaped. The lobby leads to a terrace and gazebo which boast a splendid view of the lake, especially at sunset. The restaurant, Bronze Buffalo grill, is much better than you’d expect from a small motel and the prices are reasonable — I’m guessing it’s the new prom date spot for the lads and lassies of Pilot Point and Tioga.
The not-​so-​good:
1) It’s strictly BYOB, since it’s on Parks and Wildlife land.
2) Oddly enough for a place that bills itself as a resort, there is no swimming pool and not even a swimming beach on the lake.
3) Oddly again, for a new and seemingly well-​constructed place, the walls are paper thin. I could hear the guy in the next room snoring.
Still, lovely facility on Lake Ray Roberts. It’s not particularly convenient to the other park sections, but not all that far either.
Protip — if you want to pay the extra $ 10 for a room with a view, be sure to insist on being in building 100. The other building’s «views» are mostly of a parking lot.
