Cider Mill Inn

We stayed at the Cider Mill Inn for a long weekend. All of the breakfasts were cooked on site by our host, Bob Lipinsky. They are four course affairs so pace yourself! He usually started with fresh-​baked muffins and scones, followed by fresh fruit, then some kind of hot cereal, oatmeal, or rice pudding dish. The last course would be something savory like bacon or eggs with either french toast, pancakes, or some other kind of pastry. We stayed in the Gala Suite, which is the most spacious of their available rooms, which was more expensive but worth it if you really want to feel that relaxing get-​away kind of feeling. It was absolutely lovely, complete with a small sitting room and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. There is also a pool available on the premises during the summer, but we were here in the fall.
The surrounding area is a bit remote; about a 15 minute drive into town, where there is a bustling downtown area with shops, restaurants, and other attractions. We checked out Trattoria Viviano, Yesterday’s Pub, Frank’s Pizza, Caffe a la Mode, and others. We also went apple picking at the Pochuck Farm a mile up the road from the Inn, upon Bob’s recommendation. It was a lovely experience.
All in all, I have never had a nicer or more intimate hotel/​inn experience. I would definitely return for another visit, maybe around the 4^th of July just to see how it looks in the summer.

First Impressions
We arrived Saturday evening after spending the day at Warwick Winery (a MUST experience!) and were greeted by our jolly innkeeper Bob. He used to live in NYC! We easily broke into a conversation about local NYC eateries and the ol’ neighborhood. Water and soda could be found in a fridge upstairs. This was limited to a few cans of diet soda by the time we got to it but the thought was nice and it was heavily restocked 2 days later.
Bob was always accessible and eager to give you tips on what to do locally.
Everything he suggested, we visited —
Warwick Village: Great place to spend half the day
Pennings: Find some local produce and have a drink at their apple sorter bar.
Sugarloaf: Spend the other half of the day at this beautiful artisan village
Candy Apple Shoppe: YUM! Had to pick up a famous Candy Apple here!
Adirondack Hiking Trail: Gorgeous with all the fresh snow, climbing up to the bridge was quite an adventure as the steps were gone and all that was left was a snow packed slide! So much fun!
Just like Home
Bob pointed out that there was a Keurig for Coffee/​Tea/​Hot Cocoa and a table filled with Sea Salted Caramel Brownies (The sign that indicated they were Highly Addictive was right on the money!) and heart shaped Meringues. What a Treat!
The Living Room area was, I don’t know how else to put it — Comfy! Even more so than our home. You just wanted to curl up with a book for hours on one of these sofas.
The Dining room gave you a Dinner with the Family feel and was very inviting indeed.
Cider Mill Inn, of course the rooms would be The Gala Suite, Braeburn and Cortland. We were in the Braeburn. The moment I walked it I squealed with delight — this was our room for the weekend! It was so. light and fluffy, comfortable and bright, luxurious with its 4 post bed… a room fit for a Princess. Our bathroom was on the small side (a little larger than a Cruise Ship), but we were very grateful that we had a private bathroom! AND it had a overhead heater! Exciting! luxury indeed! And no boring hotel soaps here, you get real local soaps. Being as the 2014 Winter Olympics were on, the one thing we could have wished for was an HD Cable Box. The TV was a beautiful mounted LG Flat Screen, unfortunately it only displayed Standard Def (Sorry Bob! Us city folk have been spoiled by HD!)
The FOOD!
Bob’s wife was what we called the Secret Chef. Although we never saw her, we really appreciated all the love and effort she put into preparing our meals.
We were fortunate enough to been able to experience two breakfasts at the Cider Mill Inn.
Sweet: Strawberry Scones and Orange Muffins, Poached Pear in Chiati (WOW!), Bananas Flambé over Yogurt and Oatmeal Crisp, Crème brûlée French Toast with Smoked Chicken Sausage or Apple Wood Bacon (and fruit) — Bring your Sweet Tooth!
Savory: Cranberry Scones and Blueberry Muffins, Fresh Fruit Cup, Chai Oatmeal (My FAV!!!), Ham & Cheese in a Puff Pastry with Scrambled Eggs — You will leave stuffed as if you just ate at a buffet, but you will be so very happy!
It was such a pleasure staying here. This was our first B&B and will most likely be our favorite. We can’t wait to come back during warmer times.
