Specialties
Pete & Shorty’s is your neighborhood family restaurant & tavern with great food in a friendly atmosphere.
Pete & Shorty’s started out as a Krystal Burger /White Castle/bar & lounge; then mutated –in a totally good way– into a full menu family tavern. So, we took those little «slider» burgers, created our own delicious recipe for them, then added some of our favorite comfort foods, like Pork Tenderloin sandwiches; Just too big for the bun and smothered in mustard, onion, and pickles. Loose-meat sandwiches; seasoned Iowa beef, served on a bun with a spoon. Hot beef and Hot Turkey sandwiches; served with real mashed potatoes, all smothered in delicious gravy. We knew that we had to include daily specials, too, so we offered our customers meals that would keep them coming in daily (go figure), like a meatloaf dinner served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable; a roasted half-chicken served with the same; our BBQ pulled Pork Sandwich and slaw; The famous Friday fish fry; and more.
History
Established in 1997.
Way back in 1997, the group that put Hooters on the map decided to go in together and work on creating a new restaurant concept. So one day we were sitting around chewing the fat (who does that?) and deiscovered that we all had fond memories of those delicious little «slider» burgers that one craved after a night of over-indulgig in liquid refreshments at the local bar. Suddenly a light bulb went off! What we need to do is combine those delicious little bite-sized burgers with the bar’s liquid refreshments!
