Joe truly made our wedding such an incredible success. His professionalism, attention to detail, and personal care was impeccable! My wife and I have never before been to a wedding where people danced from the first song until the very last. You really «felt» the atmosphere and he played music that everyone enjoyed. If we ever need another DJ we know who to call. Thank you for helping to make our wedding the most memorable and special day of our lives!

Joe came highly recommended as a DJ by the owner of the venue where we had our wedding, and it is no surprise why. He is easy to work with, very professional, experienced, and is an amazing DJ. He incorporated our suggestions/​likes/​dislikes in to the play list and put on a great show for our wedding guests. From pre-​ceremony music to our last dance, I have no complaints about Joe’s song selections… he made sure the party didn’t stop! Everyone loves DJ Joe and gives a glowing review. As such, it is hard to write something that sounds different or adds a new angle from everyone else. But here goes…
We hired Joe for our recent wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch. From the start (last year, way before our event), Joe was communicative. He fosters the sharing of ideas and he wants input. What we really liked about his style is that he is not afraid to come back with better ideas. We work for an employer where we are trained to always be positive in expressing diverse opinions; Joe could teach courses for our employer. Any time he saw a gap or knew something else would work better, based on hundreds or thousands of events he has worked, he would push back with the lightest of touch and in the most deft of manner. Yet once he speaks and explains why he sees things the way he does, you end up going with it. So if we could give advice, aside from hiring Joe, it would be to listen to him and heed his advice. His recommendations for our wedding worked perfectly. He does this for a living and he knows his game. He is awesome. People had a blast at our wedding, and much of the credit is to Joe for the collaboration with us and our other vendors from the start.
The other thing that stood out was his positive persistence. Let’s just say that my husband’s family, while fun, does not dance or cut loose. As the reception dancing started, those who already loved to dance danced. My husband and I watched Joe and had to smile as he was confronted with people who refuse to dance even when the music and vibe is great and perfect. We could see Joe working to stay within the general genres that we asked him to play, while at the same time doing anything he could to get people out of their seats and onto the floor. By the end of the night (sooner, actually), the dance floor was the only place to be. He rocked it, as we knew he would!
Joe loves his trade. He presents well. He moves the party and the event. He is intuitive and is very driven by personalities, and he comes prepared. He is simply great.
Hire the man. You won’t regret it.

Joe was outstanding. He made everything run smoothly and stress free. We got all of the details figured out easily before the wedding and everything went exactly as planned. My dad was very particular and concerned when it came to the music, both him, and my groom and I, wanted to stay conservative and fun. Joe was able to play music that had every age group on the dance floor. He was a joy to work with, and an all around great guy. I would highly recommend him. :)

Joe was amazing! I had so many reservations about going with a DJ over a live band and I am SO happy we went with joe! first of all, the music was, without a doubt, perfect and exactly what I was looking for. I had more than one guest come up to me asking for the playlist to our wedding! But secondly, more than that, he made me feel completely secure and took a huge weight off my shoulders when it came to organizing the night. By far the best choice on the central coast!

Joe was the absolute BEST! He was so fun and so great to work with. Every time I met with him before my wedding he gave me honest opinions and ideas and really truly invested his time and energy into our wedding. Joe showed up dressed so professionally and kept the dance floor going all night long! He worked so well with our coordinators and kept my groom and I in the loop all night long. Joe did an AMAZING job on our wedding. We are both musicians and wanted the music at our wedding to be perfect, and I am so happy we went with Joe as our DJ. He was so easy to coordinate with beforehand and gave us wonderful advice. He listened to what we wanted, but was not afraid to share his expertise and give suggestions, which we really appreciated. He was very accommodating and was always checking in with us the day of the wedding, and even helped out with an emergency with a family member. The guests loved our music and everyone was dancing the entire night. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone living in the area looking for a DJ. He really is the best!

Joe was a great DJ and very helpful! He even helped us to create a timeline for the day of and gave us lots of advice for our wedding, not even related to music! It was a great help. We have received TONS of compliments on the music during the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. He really does a great job taking suggestions from you for music and blending in with other selections. The dance floor was never empty and everyone had a great time! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dj.

My husband and I just got married in July and Joe did the music/​MC for our wedding! Jamie Strand our coordinator recommended him, and I am sure glad she did! Joe was great! He was so easy to communicate with and got back to me very quickly. He did a great job explaining to us how everything works and walking us through the process of creating lists for him to work off of for the wedding! He did such a good job using our song requests as a guideline for the wedding music and it was exactly what we wanted! He had told me the day of the wedding himself and Jamie would come up with the best spot to do our grand entrance, I was a little unsure about not already knowing before my actual wedding day where we would be coming out from. But it turned out amazing and was the best possible way to do our grand entrance, he really is a professional! To anyone out there considering him, I would give him two thumbs up! Easy to work with and will make your wedding day a success!

Joe was awesome! He did our wedding and had total control of the night. Of all our vendors, he was the simplest and easiest one to work with. The night ran smoothly, with Joe really keeping it on track and making sure to time things out so that we still had time to enjoy the dancing and let loose. My husband and I were really appreciative of how confident and comfortable he was in the planning stages. He really didn’t ask much of us at all, just a short list of some of our favorite songs and he went from there. He was able to read our crowd well enough to keep them on the dance floor, with no odd pauses or lulls in music choices. I really appreciated his work, but, ultimately, he was the quiet guide in the background that kept things on point and entertaining!

Joe did a great job at our wedding. He was very professional and kept mike time strictly business. We had a great dance party and overall a really good time. During cocktail hour and dinner we gave Joe some artists that we like and he created a fantastic play list.
While planning the wedding Joe responded to our emails even while in Russia! Immediately upon his return he met with us and we booked him on the spot. It ended being a little more expensive than we had anticipated, but we really appreciated the extra time Joe put it to really make our day.
He is a good choice for a DJ that can take care of it all and throw a good party at the same time.

My wife and I didn’t know where to start with finding a DJ. Luckily many of the venues we looked at recommended a few to us and Joe was always on the list of top DJs. He is very professional. We had a meeting with him before the wedding and he isn’t afraid to make recommendations to help plan the night. He is also open to trying out what you want as well. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ and we are eternally grateful for everything he did.

I cannot imagine our wedding day without Joe! Not only did he provide the perfect music for our ceremony, but managed to make a playlist for our cocktail hour and reception that could not have been more «us.» He kept our guests on the dance floor having the time of their lives, wishing the reception could go on for hours more! Joe was the best possible choice for a DJ! He knew the crowd and played the absolutely perfect playlist! We are so happy we chose him to DJ our wedding. So many people complemented us on the music! He was professional and just a great guy. My veil fell off at one point and he ran over and grabbed it for me, later in the night he let me know he got it safely to my mother. He worked with our musician to coordinated the ceremony music flawlessly! We had the perfect wedding and his services really made it!

In researching our vendors (DJ, caterer, venue, photographer, coordinator), I asked each who they particularly enjoyed/​appreciated working with. These suggestions reinforced the opinions from websites like this. While it’s nice to know customers enjoyed their vendors, there’s security in knowing your vendors worked well together and highly regarded each other. Through all this research (it was a lot — trust me), one thing was abundantly clear: Everybody loves Joe. With complete confidence, DJ Joe was the first vendor we selected.
– Working with Joe –
Joe is the consummate professional. Courteous. Quick to respond. Very friendly. While we hired him to DJ, Joe was available for any question we threw at him. I doubt you’ll find someone with more experience or knowledge, as he proved time & again. Joe helped us choose several of our other vendors, offered fun ideas/​options for a variety of random details we were considering, and even worked with us to finalize our wedding day schedule when one of our other vendors was unable to. I capitalize this for extreme emphasis: JOE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST A SPECTACULAR DJ.
Joe was a friend to us throughout the planning process, and by our wedding day, he was the one thing you want from each vendor that you’ll forget to have as a checklist item: he was someone we trusted completely. And that means peace of mind; I knew Joe would do his job and do it to perfection.

Joe showed up early, worked seamlessly with other vendors, helping each to be better than they would’ve been without him. The music and sound were superb, but Joe never became the focal point. If anything, he is the reason things ran so smoothly, but none of the guests would ever know it — exactly how things should be.

And then of course, there’s the music and dancing. Joe, my wife and I spent a few weeks calling/​emailing about song selections, likes, dislikes. Joe listened well, offered constructive feedback, promised an awesome time out on the dance floor. And that’s exactly what happened. Our guests raved about «The DJ» — even our music snob friends emailed us after the wedding to praise our song choices and what a great DJ we had. And when that happens, you know you’ve done something very right.
– In Summary –
I go back to what I wrote at the top. DJ Joe LaBarbera isn’t just a great choice. He is the right choice. Go ahead and do all the necessary due diligence in researching other DJs; that’ll help give you the needed peace of mind when you choose Joe. But also check with your other vendors about who they enjoy working with. If they don’t mention him, I’ll be shocked. Plus, that likely says more about these other vendors (inexperience?) than him.
Go with Joe. You will be completely happy with the decision.

You can’t go wrong with this DJ. He’s just the best. I’ve been to a lot of weddings in my time, and I’ve never enjoyed a DJ as much as this one.
We booked with Joe after reading his reviews on another website. I wish I found him earlier, as it sounds like he could have handled a lot more of the coordination, too, and knew our venue (Santa Margarita Ranch) extremely well. He was actually out of the country when we booked with him, but he was still able to write back to us and confirm that he received his check (through his wife who handles the money). Impressive!
When our date started to roll around, I sent over a small list of songs we wanted as per our coordinator’s suggestion. Joe requested we set up a time to talk, and it sounds strange to say/​write, but I’m really glad we did! He was extremely professional and easy to talk to, asked me all about how I wanted things to go music-​wise, and even played me clips of the processional songs to ensure he got the right vibe. As for the recessional, I hadn’t picked one out yet, so he played a few suggestions for me based off of what I said my fiancé and I liked. Then he assigned us some «homework» that was perhaps the most fun part of planning our whole wedding — sitting down and picking out a few «seed» songs for him to go off of for the cocktail hour and the dinner hour, as well as our must play and do not play lists.
His rate is extremely good, probably the highest value we received throughout the whole process of anyone, and I could have made the value even better if I had him coordinate our wedding too! The one thing I would have done better on my end money wise would have been requesting the balance leading into the day and mailing the check off before the day of, so that I didn’t have to worry about it on our wedding day.
Oh, and the day of. he was amazing. It’s hard to put it into words, but one of my bridesmaids did quite well. We all first met him at the same time, about to head into our venue for the introductions as he was going up to everyone in the line ensuring we were in the right order and he was saying our names correctly. My bridesmaid said something like «man, I’m excited for this DJ. I feel like just looking at him, I want to dance!». For sure.
And then as the night wore on, his song selection was just perfect. We had a great group together, everyone was dancing (very much thanks to him) and having an awesome time. Now my husband and I had chosen a relatively slow song for our last song because we weren’t planning on having an after-​party. Fortunately for us, even though the party was raging, everyone took this song really well and actually sang along to it as a group. Pretty awesome. But then, the best part, was that Joe picked an additional song as the true last song that was PERFECT. It was an artist we mentioned we liked, but we hadn’t specifically mentioned/​selected this particular song, and really, I can’t think of a better song for that night. I don’t know if he always had that up his sleeve or if it was some last minute magic, but. really, it couldn’t have been a better choice. Weddings are hectic, and Joe made the *perfect soundtrack* to ours with the best vibes all around and gave us a truly unforgettable ending.

Joe is extremely classy and professional, my wife and I are very happy to have worked with him for our beautiful wedding at Hammersky Vineyards in Paso Robles, CA. From the first meeting on the phone, Joe had a lot of good energy, was very interested in our vision and the details of the venue. He is extremely easy to work with and goes above and beyond to make sure your day is perfect.
He showed up on our wedding day looking extremely dapper, ready to handle any and all challenges with a confident and relaxed smile. Joe was one of the best decisions we made.
We had many, many song requests and different genres we wanted to play for our wedding; everything from hip hop to salsa, 80s to rock, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra and classic Colombian folk songs. Joe was prepped ahead of time with some suggestions but on the day of the wedding he was able to read the crowd perfectly and keep everyone dancing and having fun. The flow of the whole event was just amazing. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll hire Joe LaBarbera for DJ’ing your wedding. Joe is the truly the best in the business!

My wife and I used Joe for our wedding August 23^rd in Cayucos. I could not say enough good things about how professional and talented he is. He helped make our wedding the best day of our life.
He was extremely involved in helpful in the planning process giving us insight on schedule and music choice. We provided him with a song list and ceremony songs and he nailed it. The dance party was amazing and everyone commented on how good the DJ was. All age groups at the wedding really enjoy it.
Joe was great as a Host as well. He was heard but not over involved. He was in the back ground but kept the wedding moving at a great pace, just as we planned. He hit all of his cues and even worked with us on some special touches we requested.

My wife and I spent a lot of time looking for the right wedding DJ during our planning. Luckily we chose Joe.
Joe was very responsive to emails and calls. We met him twice at his house before the event to work out the details and he gave us some great advice how to conduct our wedding.
He was right on time with his setup at the ceremony and reception so no worries at all.
Our wedding was small approx. 40 ppl which is a challenge since an empty dance floor is awkward! Joe kept everything flowing and really delivered on the big day. Several guests commented that they loved the music.
Overall he did a fantastic job helping to make our day amazing! Thanks Joe!
