My father had apparently stopped using these guys about 10 years ago, now I know why!
I asked for 2 yards of concrete and it cost $ 897.90! I was quoted a price for $ 600 something and thought it was still insane, but we were desperate and they were relatively close. Then I get an invoice for almost $ 900. When I call to ask about this, Niels, (the P.O.S owner I assume?) is a total d*ck about it. He says, «if you’re going to give me an attitude, then don’t call me again.» Of course I’m going to have an attitude when you have 3 different forms of charging delivery and coming up with $ 450/​yard. He’s a douche bag, thanks for reminding me why we decided to stop using you.
Update: Niels called back to say that my price was $ 675, but he never apologized for his rudeness before. I’m always in the market looking for new vendors and Niels will NEVER get my business again.

I recently did some concrete work in my back yard. I called Antioch building materials to get a quote on some concrete. I expected better from them. They asked me how I was going to get the concrete to the backyard. I replied a wheel barrow. Now, I manage a large plumbing company and offer my customers fantastic customer service as without them we could not keep our lights on. At this point the customer service rep should’ve informed me of the $ 2/​min standby charge. I was not informed of this charge until 2 yards of concrete was unloaded. An additional $ 400 unacceptable! If they would’ve told me there was a standby charge I would have gotten a concrete pump. Thanks Antioch building materials.
I feel like they completely took advantage of me. I think it is comparable to going to a restaurant and get the bill only to realize that there is a surcharge for sitting outside!
I would highly recommend using another concrete company. One who doesn’t take advantage of its customers! To add icing to the cake there were 10 or so cigarette butts left on my driveway, disrespectful!
