RMJ Concrete

I’ve used RMJ Concrete for three foundation jobs in Alameda, CA and have been impressed every time. Robert Martinez, the owner is knowledgable and very easy to work worth. The last project was the replacement of a 110 year old brick foundation for a two-​story house. In addition to shoring and formwork for the perimeter footing, we also built a concrete and steel shear-​wall system designed by a structural engineer. It was extra work but definitely worthwhile to eliminate a soft story hazard. Even the building inspectors commented that this guy knows his stuff. While we were at it we poured a new basement slab. Everything came out great. The house is stronger now than it ever was!

It was my pleasure as a homeowner, to meet Robert Martinez, owner and operator of R M J Concrete. He and his crew were hard working, always there when they said they would be and extremely courteous. They installed for me, an engineered cinder block retaining wall and fence that far exceeded my expectations. They cleaned up all the debris and left my yard as if they had never been there. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family.

We had the pleasure to work with Robert. We had him create steps to our backyard from the sliding door and a 18’x20’ concrete pad. I found him on Craigslist and shoot him an email late in the evening. He got back to us the following morning and he came out the next day! At the time we were in the process of applying for a permit and was having some difficulties with the city in regards to the foundation. (Basically they requested a drawing of the foundation of the area we wanted to convert into a bathroom. Which I might add was ridiculous because the home was built in the late 40s). Robert was professional and arrived on time. My husband spoke to him that day and he was very informative and he even helped us draw the foundation plan. What was great about Robert was that we weren’t obligated to work with him at the time and he still helped us with the foundation drawing! That just shows how much he takes pride in his work. Because of his professionalism and going out of his way, we wanted to work with him.
Initially, the reason we were looking for a concrete guy was to redo our driveway. Unfortunately we had to put that on hold, but we ended up having him do our steps and pad instead. It looks amazing! We’ve gotten a lot of compliments by people and even other contractors!
We will be extending our house and planning to hire Robert to do our foundation.

Robert ripped my old backyard deck out, and constructed a concrete patio for me, designing it from scratch. The large patio included a drain running through then under the concrete, and the remaining design also had to take into account the horrible drainage situation I had.
Robert was professional, forthcoming with details, priced his services fairly, was easy to develop a rapport with, and employed some hard-​working but friendly workers to help with the project. The project went smoothly and Robert finished in a timely manner and the finished product was exactly how I had envisioned the patio to be, except for where he had instructed me on how to make the finished product better. He went the extra mile in sharing his expertise and in preparing me for the next project of finishing the drainage system.

Robert (RMJ Concrete) did the best work on my house of anyone I have hired. He was professional and got the jobs done in a timely manner. He was very knowledgible and gave me great advice on various work that needs to be done on my house. He ended up doing a french drain around my house in addition to some concrete work and framing. He really knew what he was doing and explained everything. I had a lot of other estimates from other Contractors and Handymen, but Robert really took the time to explain my options and the best way to go about the jobs. And he worked with my budget. I felt the most confident in him and he came through with great work and even did extra things that needed to be done that I wasn’t aware of. His workers were hard working like him and skilled. I would recommend him to anyone.
