Dixie’s Tupperware Party

What an awesome show! I heard from Aj S about how funny this show was and when my mom mentioned the idea of getting tickets for my aunts birthday, I insisted that we all go! I am really glad we went!
First of all, it’s really a Tupperware party — which is hilarious, and I was pumped because I had never been to one aha. Dixie is hilarious and outrageous the entire show. She was making fun of audience members (in good fun) and making a lot of sexual jokes. I wasn’t sure if the party I went with was going to like her humor but they loved it! My aunt was laughing the whole time. Dixie kept her audience engaged throughout the entire show and made me want to buy all of the Tupperware! (I seriously am going to look online after I post this). She was also very informative– she talked about Brownie Wise, the woman behind Tupperware parties and why they all began! She was also the first woman to be featured on the cover of Business Week magazine! What an awesome fact! Dixie ended the show with a feel good message that left me smiling from ear to ear.
Bottom line– this show is great. It’s unique, hilarious and an overall great time!
Also– I read some the other Unilocal reviews about this being a drag show and Dixie doesn’t compare to other drag performers. Never once did Dixie mention drag. I didn’t expect this to be a drag show and do not think that her «real gender» even matters. I just saw her as a woman selling Tupperware in the most creative and hilarious way imaginable. :)

Dixie’s Tupperware Party was a funny and playful comedy, ripping off the typical sales woman who asks if you are interested in having her host a party in your home! Dixie is that woman and then some! She is full of energy and is phenomenal at improv! Her jokes are not suited for a younger, sensitive or politically correct crowd. All those jokes you thought of but dare not say, Dixie will say for you! Many times, my mouth dropped during the performance, like «No she didn’t!» And that is what makes this performance fun and exciting… yes, Dixie will go there! She has no fear of what others think and engages the crowd on various levels. I went to the show for free with my friend, which made the show totally worthwhile but I don’t know if I would go back and pay to see the show. It was funny, entertaining, engaging and Dixie’s energy and spunk is out of this world, but it was not the type of comedy that had me howling or kept me intrigued. I would recommend this show to those of you out there that like to experience different performances and arts because you truly will never experience anything like this type of performance again! It is literally a Tupperware party that you can buy products from, complete with an over the top, eccentric woman with big hair!

A poor country lady, barely kept her family fed,
Then one day she had an idea if she dared,
So she hit the road to sling Tupperware.
Bowls that is, cupcake holders, ice cream scoops.
Well I haven’t been to a Tupperware party since the 80’s and it certainly wasn’t like anything we experienced this past Saturday, but in the best way possible.
Dixie, and her colorful yet controversial approach to selling the durable storage containers was quite delightful and kept me loudly laughing throughout the performance. Her interaction with the audience was skillful as she did an excellent job improvising with their actions and words. I was secretly hoping I would get called up to be slightly humiliated just because it was so amusing, but at least I got a picture with the lovely Dixie.
Another thing I found very inspiring was how Dixie was a steady flow of encouragement to everyone about believing in yourself and accomplishing whatever it is you want in life. That all seemed to tie nicely together with her scandalous background and how she rose from the depths of criminality to travelling nationwide selling her effects. Of course these tales were told in a comical manner not to actually depress anyone. Another interesting part of the show was when she spoke of the 1951 vice president of marketing for Tupperware Brownie Wise and how she revolutionized the business in the early 1950’s by taking it on the road to «parties» where she introduced the product first hand to her friends, neighbors, relatives and so on. Dixie painted a picture of the very spirited Brownie that would make any women proud that even during a time such as the 50’s where women were not considered to be worth much more than taking care of houses and families, Brownie rose to such success. Definitely a revolutionary of her time.
So even though Dixie was a tad racy, maybe a little lewd, and perhaps a bit vulgar she sure was entertaining and kept me not only laughing but interested the whole way through. I guess if you are a sensitive soul, finicky, prissy, or demure you may not enjoy this performance; however if you are up for a good, hardy, perhaps naughty laugh, I would advise you to make a trip to see Dixie soon. It really is a tupperware party?
I did enjoy this show it was quirky and funny. However, I am glad that I got my tickets for free as it would not have been worth it had I paid $ 40.00+ for a seat. There are much better drag performers here in Pittsburgh. The show really did go just like a tupperware party and I did end up buying an item or two, but it was just not a theater quality show. The laughs were not funny enough to warrant paying for this show. I would not reccomend it.

What a wonderful evening at the Caberat Theater! I’ve been wanting to check out Dixie’s show for awhile, and thanks to Unilocal it was made possible!
Dixie’s show is really a parody of the typical Tupperware party. She makes you laugh at herself (and the products) all while totally making you want to buy everything on stage! She’s a great improviser and her jokes were HILARIOUS. Every second of the show she made sure to command the attention and never got lost on the stage. Sometimes her accent and mumbling lost me a bit so I think she needs to work on her diction, however she still totally had me smiling and laughing the whole time.
Word of advice — if you’re someone who is politically correct or doesn’t like crude humor, this show is NOT for you. She makes jokes about sex, ethnic groups and religion. Funny to me, but I can see how she may not be someone’s cup of tea.

This was a great show! A couple of slow parts, but we spent the better part of the hour and a half laughing. Drag trailer park at its finest. And the best part was that everyone, including all the men, loved it… tough feat with any type of theatre. Well worth the time.

This was a really fun show! My friend and I had a blast when we saw it last night – we were bagging up for most of it. Even though many of the jokes were «adult» in content, even my friend, who can be a bit skittish, enjoyed them. Dixie is a great improvisor and makes what would otherwise be a boring Tupperware party great fun!
Although the show only has one musical number (That Tupperware Feeling), unlike another show I’ve seen at the CLO Cabaret, it was much funnier. In addition to being entertained, you’ll learn interesting facts about Tupperware and Tupperware Parties, including many unconventional uses for Tupperware products.
If you’re looking for a funny, interactive, and unconventional show, I’d highly recommend Dixie’s Tupperware Party. Go check it out!

Dixie is sooo funny, she provided a hoot of a show. She is also very sexy and shows off the Tupperware products very funny.

How many ways can you say funny? Not enough when it comes to this show, I literally cried laughing. Looking forward to going back with some of my other friends. GO SEE IT NOW!
