Monro Muffler Brake & Service

It was time for an oil change so I made an appointment. The guy on the phone was trained in customer service 101 because mechanics aren’t normally bubbly and cheerful folk. Lol He was really nice and immediately scheduled me for the early morning appointment I needed.
When I arrived, both of the gentleman at the counter greeted me and took care of my oil change fairly quickly. Great service means I’ll be coming back.

No one should ever go here. I scheduled an appointment for 11 AM for state/​emission inspections. I told the guy it has 8,000 miles on it, and he told me it would be ready in an hour/​hour and a half. I’m like alright great. I come back 2 hours later and the car hasn’t moved. I come in and the guy says, we got busy, do you want to take it? No apology or anything. Why tell me an hour? Why not apologize or tell me when you can have it done? Whats the actual point of an appointment if it’s an all day process? I went to the dealership and got it done in an hour. One star does not do this place justice.

I brought my car at this spot thinking it would be a quick fix. I had a scheduled appointment at 11:00 and it didn’t get looked at until 4:30. I called several times and they got continually irate with me. When they finally called me they didn’t even look at my car and quoted me over $ 1,500 of work!!! I took it to another mechanic and it was less than half of what they charged. One star is too generous for those crooks.

Needed a wheel hub assembly replaced on my SUV last year. They ended up charging me $ 1000 for the hub, axle, etc. Acted like they were doing me a favor only charging me $ 350 for the hub part instead of $ 500… The other front hub went bad a couple of months later… I looked online at Rock Auto and found the same part they used for $ 120 plus shipping. Did the work myself. NEVER EVER EVER take your vehicle to them, especially for inspections. They tried to tell me that I’d need new brake lines before inspection. Took that as the warning not to go back. I took my SUV to another mechanic for inspection… Passed with no mention to the brake lines.
These guys are absolute crooks.

This was from 3 years ago but I doubt the place has changed. Horrible service. The manager, Ken, overcharges regularly, called another place and got quoted $ 200 less on axle replacement. Another time told me car was fixed after it failed to start, except I get there, pay, start the car, and the check engine light is on! And of course, the car failed to start again shortly thereafter, and the manager insisted that it was a completely new problem despite the fact that the car failed in the exact same situation as before, and wanted to charge me a 2^nd time to look at it (after I heard him laughing on the other line after describing how frustrating it was that the car failed again). I will never go back to this shop or any other Monro because of this guy’s rudeness, and quite honestly I just don’t trust their diagnostic ability. I myself am a physician and if I treated patients like this guy fixes cars, I’d be sued regularly!
