The Mission of the PKA Karate Academy is to mentor people by positively impacting lives, instilling such core qualities as perseverance, knowledge and action, while continually growing and changing ourselves for the better in mind, body, and spirit; always developing additional leaders for generations to come.
The PKA Karate Academy in Pittsburgh, PA specializes in martial arts classes for kids and adults. Our primary art is American Kenpo, which is a mixed martial art (MMA) developed for self-defense for all shapes and sizes. Our karate classes for children beginning at the age of three and work concepts, basics and principles that teach attacks, defenses, natural motion, body physics as well as street scenarios and sparring with safety gear. Our adult program also has a kickboxing element with equipment and control. We are a family operated academy and not a traditional fight club, however the fighting elements are universal.
The PKA Karate Academy in Pittsburgh has been in existence for over 45 years. Our Classes are Age Specific, Goal Oriented and Results Driven. Our resume and references are second to none; check them out! PKA Karate is a proud member of the Larry Tatum Kenpo Karate Association (LTKKA).
History
Established in 1970.
The business originally was started in the South Hills in Pittsburgh and quickly spread throughout the surrounding areas and now serves local communities of Pittsburgh and South Western Pennsylvania.

Robert M.
Manager
1st Degree Black Belt «Sergeant Major» Mr. Metz is the former Senior TAC NCOIC of the U.S. Army Ranger School having more than 22 years military experience. SGM Metz was one of the founding fathers of the Army’s Gun Truck Alley initiative, which prepared Army reserve soldiers for Convoy Survivability Operations in light of lethal ambushes extant in Iraq and Afghanistan. Further, he has been interviewed by several media sources as a Subject Matter Expert in respect to the Improvised Explosive Devices, which are so prevalent in attacks against Coalition Forces deployed in the Middle East. SGM Metz’s present duty is as the Operations Sergeant Major for a Division level Command. He is also a retired Homicide Detective with 11 years experience. As a police officer Mr. M had been certified as both a Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructor as well as a Close Quarters Combat Instructor.
