History
Established in 1930.
Pittsburgh Playhouse has been home to a number of theatre companies over its seven decade history, as well as a well-regarded theatre school that produced the likes of Shirley Jones, and was saved from financial distress in the 1960s by Point Park University (then College). Since then, the Playhouse has become the artistic center of the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park.
