History

Established in 1998.

Rickert & Beagle Books opened its doors in the Southside of Pittsburgh, originally named Eljay’s after the combined names of the founding owners, Louise and Jason (known as Frank, but that’s a whole other story). In 2010 the store was relocated to Dormont, just outside of Pittsburgh, and added a new co-owner. When Frank and Louise decided to retire from bookselling in 2013 they left their partner Chris Rickert with full control of the store. Chris invited her friend, author Peter S Beagle to join forces with her to keep the bookstore going, and the shop was renamed Rickert & Beagle Books.
